@@user-yx1qk4sk5t im not sure about the titan specifically, I've never been interested in this type of desktop replacement laptop. fuck it maybe I'm wrong right now and they actually changed material on their higher end stuff i sure as hell ain't checking because having to deal with a laptop that's literally falling apart from the hinges being shit and ripping the brittle plastic they used, not fun and they're not ever getting my money again no matter how good their products are, and i didn't even get tricked into buying a lower end product for more than it was worth at that time, that was pretty damn close to buying it straight off of them price wise. just so displeased with the quality of the material at that time, especially the hinges, if the material is bad it's fine. because if it breaks i probably dropped it, but i don't want it falling apart because they couldn't make hinges out of metal. or they were linked up with plastic like they did on the model i got back then

Just a update as someone who actually owns this laptop and have longer than probably most people. MSI released a update for the track pad and it's finally working correctly. You can now hold and drag for as long as you want. Thank God! Unfortunately, if you do the update. All your bios settings will be lose. You will have to redo undervolt, redo memory 5600 setting, and all that. It's kinda annoying because you have to go thru like 8 different settings for all this but oh well. Now the laptop is flawless except for the atrocious battery life of course!

You don’t ever buy the MSI Titan 18 for battery life, just the full desktop level performance experience that’s portable. On this promise, MSI delivers. Also, if you buy a portable PSU, or generator, battery life is not a problem anymore. Get massive amounts of watts 1600W minimum for your MSI PSU and that 192 GB of 5500 Mhz DDR5 RAM! The fact that the standard charger for the Titan 18 HX is literally a 400W charger tells you all you need to know! MSI Titan 18 HX is the only laptop on the market with 192 GB max DDR5 RAM capacity.

I have 6 (mainly tower) systems for my geek family, and combined consumption is now an issue, may be interested by laptop replacements to cut the costs. (may not rly an issue for this specific 5K$+ laptop user audience).

Since the Titan doesn't have g-sync does that mean it'd be more prone to screen tearing and/or microstutters / etc, especially when there's a major disparity between the refresh rate and FPS? This one was on the shortlist but after a lot of contemplation I went for the Alpha17CV and dropped 64GB in it and not regretted it, 32threads on the 7945HX with no efficiency cores to worry about so no need to shut those down in some games at less than a 3rd the price of this with a 240hz 1440 screen was hard to ignore at the price point..

Very good review as always. But a very minor mistake at 20:08 that must've been a small slip of the mind: you must mean "using ^Advanced Optimus doesn't give you as big a performance boost", since having just "Optimus" on would cost you a bit of performance. And also I still insist that 1:1 isn't the right way to convey an infinite or immeasurably high contast.

@@Arxgxmi not necessarily. If you're just looking for raw horsepower, MSI raider series has thicker heavier laptops, which cool better but are much less portable. Asus Scar series has sleeker designs and perform a bit worse, but are not far behind. (For a given generation of laptop with the same specs). If you plan to take the laptop around, Scar. If it's stationary most of the time, Raider isn't a bad choice. I just hesitate to recommend MSI because of their less than ideal track record

I wonder why the results are so weak (relatively of course), considering the hardware and the temps it should outperform every other laptop, even the ones with the same specs since the increased tdp and yet it seems that sometimes it gets beaten by last year cpu with less power. I think there must be something wrong with the tuning or the softwer or the drivers in the titan series, maybe that's why the temps are so low (the cpu not going over 90 in a stress test with all that power it's wierd). Maybe the problem is just the ram, 3600 is very slow, other laptops reach 5200\5600 with ddr5 and unless you actually need large amounts of ram for specific tasks the speed of ram is much more important in gaming and application in general (you will never even fill 32 gb in gaming).

I have same laptop To be honest, it has nothing to do with the memory clock The performance difference depends on whether BIOS advanced settings are used such as reducing voltage and turning off CEP / UVP / Core isolation I have tried increasing the clock speed of my 128GB DDR5 to 4600~4000MHz Although it can be turned on However, above 4200Mhz, it will fail the Windows memory check. The only 4000MHz can pass the stability check And the Cinebench results are not much different from 3600/4600MHz DDR5

Don't understand why MSI followed the stupid trend to make laptop lighter and thinner. GT75 better than GT76 than GT77. This Titan 18 is not bad, but for 5k USD, it's a hard pass. Guess I will hold on my GT75 for many more years.

Yes it did practically replace my desktop for about 5 years. Then i got addicted to warzone and needed to upgrade so i built my own pc. Now i'm thinking about going back to a laptop and selling my old pc which is still remarkable with a 3080 and 5900x cpu and basically top of the line everything else in ITX form. I just want the mobility of a laptop if i were to travel but i'd definitely not care about the touchpad, b/c who doesn't use a mouse?
