Many are saying that Freeze is better. Although in a lot of situations Freeze is better. The DPS of Firebird far outweighs Freeze with the bonus 20% damage with Incendiary Mix

yea, but the 50% protection against firebird basically make it and the bonus damage have less of an effect, unless of course you are using pulsar firebird, which make the concept of protections meaningless.

If you invest everything in damage just use Defender and a protection and it will be over, I know this because I do that. Now using the Pulsar augment on DPS turrets is pretty tricky.

I would say paladin/Hyperion drone with pulsar fire Basically a god combo

I guess I know what I'm gonna be trying out next time I boot up tanki. Sadly I don't even have trickstwr yet because I've been focused on upgrading crisis lol

This is the firebird and railgun meta. Both of these turrets have a lot of protections against them but both of them still shine. Firebird just does eidiculous damage and railgun's crit rate is way too high, especially if you use round destabilization

High pressure pump can do even more because of the high burning effect

I mean, Hammer's assault magazine aug got nerfed in like 2 or 3 weeks so, doesn't seem that firebird is getting any nerf soon

This combo I can destroy, now Firebird, Tesla and especially Isida Pulsar along with Defensor and sometimes protection against me is almost impossible to kill alone.

Ngl firebird and freeze have been good seince the game came out because there is little counter play vs the turrets when mines are so bad

Freeze is actually best close range maybe best turret. 1. Not that many people have freeze protection as firebird. 2. It disables your DD and even when you use freeze immunity on your hull which guarantee you that freeze will not be able to disable your DD you can use augments for freeze like magnetic or paralyzing augment and your opponent will either suffer from stun/ supply removal or double dmg disable and you still have a great ammount of DMG so yeah... firebird maybe great because of high dmg but when we think about strategy and using battle IQ freeze is just better. I would like to see some duels with this combos/turrets In theory freeze shold win against firebird because of what I said. When firebird user put freeze immunity on hull and you equip magnetic mix or paralyze mix on freeze, it will give freeze user advantage. Yeah firebird user can use augment for paralyze or magnetix mix too, but freeze user can use hull augment against it, yeah he will sufer burning but firebird user will lose 70 % heating effect with that augment so no additional (or little) dmg from overheat. Freeze user also loose 70 % of freeze effect but who cares if firebird user is already using freeze immunity. You can not win this augment/protection fight against freeze it will always have advantage over you.

Even if you have protection firebird does to much damage. You need pritection and heat immunity

why not with freeze ? I've seen this combo with freeze quite a lot.

Freeze basically disables your double damage so in a freeze vs firebird fight, the freeze will more than likely win, i think freeze is better right now

There is one thing you forgot. The freezing effect needs to be pretty noticable before double damage is disabled.

Well no one was using Defender+50% fire protection as far as I could see, which is what I do for most of my battles because it deals relatively well against Fire+Corrosive mix or Incendiary mix. Want to nerf it? Well then, ban Fire+Crisis and/or Fire+Paladin. Firebird itself is not unbeatable regardless of the augment and hull. However, when paired with specific hulls+augments, that changes. For instance, because Paladin's OD heals you for about 30 secs, if played correctly alongside the First Aid supply, it is possible to never die in a match (let's remember the Paladin+Isida+Vampire nanobots stupid broken combo). But the real main issue is the immunity to all status effects (but burning recently), which effectively neuters possible answers like Hunter's OD and Hornet's and thus allows the player to run something like the driver augment and keep getting the OD fast enough. So, wanna nerf something? Well at this point it's not a turret or a hull alone that are broken, but full combos. What you were using in this match was very effective mostly because (and in order): 1) no defender+50%prot from Fire, which I would say should be a must in certain modes and maps; 2) mouse controls, which give you so much evasiveness even the most accurate turrets can miss their shots having you 2 feet away from them; 3) Paladin's OD, which gives you the possibility of healing yourself for 30 secs or so and be immune to all status effects but burning. We should also consider your experience in the game, teammates that support you and the game mode as factors, but the other three are more relevant. And this is why I agree with you in the fact that Tanki will not nerf this, because nerfing Fire alone would mean turning it back into the mediocre turret it was before three or four months ago. However, nerf Paladin, mouse controls and speed boosting drones (amongst other things) and you'll see how Fire ceases to be meta, or as meta at the very least.

There is one thing I would like to challange about this defender+prot forces you to run defender, which is not as good as some other drones, such as crisis (yes i know it eats a lot of supplies, and you would rather use a drone that only eats 1 supply rather than all of them, but we're talking short term here). A lot of the math with 90% armor is obsurd, with protections, you basically never die. Shaft heavy cap crisis no longer one shots (as far as im aware), railgun is a 4-5 hit kill if they dont crit, firebird takes 9-10 seconds instead of 5. (This is mostly estimated, idk if there was a balance change that changed the math) all of this is before a repair. Hammer, scorpion, gauss, and tesla dont do enough damage to be relevent. (So long as pulsar doesnt crit, which is a low chance.) Its actually obsurd how much 90% over 70% makes a difference. I forgot the math when it comes to defender, but I'd assume its a tad bit worse. The only other thing I would like to say, is that immunity to all status effects is only op, because tanki thought they would be a good idea to add, but were mistaken in that idea so much. I wouldn't mind them so much if they were heavilly nerfed such as: Jammer: you must choose weather or not you want drones, or overdrives deactivated Stun: you can't move, or shoot, but can still use supplies, other than repair. Emp: you must choose 2 supplies to be prioritised in de-activation before the game begins. Burning: 300->250 Freeze: This is actually in a good state rn. Ik freezing disables damage, but is somewhat irrelevent. Ap: Also in a good state. Pulsar: Must choose 3 effects before the game starts. Then nerf fb, and rail's damage by 5%, doing this indirectly nerfs paladin od, because less status effects would be used. Paladin driver would still be insane, don't get me wrong, but would fall off to all the non status augs.

Nah I've known this combo was the strongest because when you see it against you in match making and especially event modes you die in like 2 seconds kind of like a drive by kill

This is kinda unacceptable, it seems like there is not a lot of counterplay you could do to stop this. I really hope the tanki balancing team wakes up and finally does something about this.

They won't, have you seen the last patch notes? Decreasing magnum and railgun crit chance by a lot...man those turrets have been so weak for so long, but nooo let's make them even worse! They don't give a McFuck about balance

Firebird is ridiculous OP and must be nerfed... at least equal to Freeze DPM and reload Firebird and freeze should be equal like when was invented in the game in 1st year of Tanki

Firebird had higher heating rate than it does now and freeze had higher freezing rate so the two were never "equal". Early firebird was basically compact fuel tanks

Tbh, all close range weapons should be this strong, becouse if some long range weapons are strong then evryone is gonna camp. Also still not OP considering that some long range weapons can oneshot you at any distance... Not to mention it is not that it would be that strong, long range weapons are stronger, but you can avoid some long range weapons by using different path, but you cannot avoid this, this will hunt you down. And that oportunity to kill, that is what makes it dangerous and look more powerfull.

btw: those enemies are bots, you cannot rate it based on how it perform in hands of good player against bots.

its so funny cuz with firebird protection its like barely even helpful

I HATE paladin so frickin bad. Every tryhard buyer uses this combo and with no skill are decimating everyone...it's so infuriating, I wish they just straight up removed paladin from the game. I hate how something that requires no skill can be this powerful...I refuse to use it cuz I'm not a coward, I'm here for actual skill based playing.
