Die-hard Wolves fan here. Been through the darkest of time with this cursed franchise. KAT picked up this franchise when it was a flamming bag of dog poo, and he was the reason I became super invested again. That said- it's time to move on from him. Everything said in this video is true, and I don't see a way to ever fix him. He has a serious weakness that no one ever talks about- lack of lower body strength. It's why he struggles to post up even Point Guards, and why he can't create his own shot. Weak in addition to being slow-footed. But oddly, blessed with a ton of skills. It could work.......if you were a 3rd option on a championship team and not getting paid the super max. So yeah- tough choice, but the faster the Wolves move on from him, the better. Also, thanks for bringing up his battle with COVID. It's sensitive stuff, so I hope fans understand it's been rough for him.

Totally agree with everything you said. With Edwards #1, they could've found a #2, and then KAT #3. That is how I think everyone expected the franchise to improve. Instead, they traded for Gobert who is not a #2 and takes KAT's position. So what is KAT supposed to do? Catch and shoot 3s? Off the dribble jump shot? Even those are limited because he's got an athletic forward guarding him now instead of a slow center. It seems like either Gobert or KAT must be traded, but KAT is the only one of the two that you can get value for, so it's gotta be him.

I'm a long time Wolves fan, too, which, historically is a painful activity. I also was initially optimistic about KAT, who, offensively at least, is exceptionally talented. I've often felt that for a big, he should rebound better, and I agree with your statement that he often disappears in high pressure moments. His defense has always been mediocre at best, and his attitude and demeanor is whiny and negative. I think that the officiating crews are pretty fed up with his nonstop whining. If he played harder, and brought it when it mattered, he'd get more favorable calls. Unfortunately, this spills over to the team as a whole, and even Ant, who plays twice as hard, often doesn't get calls. He talks a good game, and usually says all the right things to the press, but the walk often doesn't match the talk. At this point in his career, he's an established veteran, but he doesn't act like one. His teammates don't respect him as a leader, because his inconsistent play doesn't warrant that kind of respect. He gets max contract pay, but doesn't deliver max contract performance. If his effort matched his talent, he'd be right up there with Jokic and Embiid. As it is, he's not anywhere near their level. Maybe it is time to move on. Ant has clearly surpassed him as the Wolves best player.

To be honest, as a very very die hard Timberwolves fan. I love this team, born and raised in MN. I’ve been very very mean towards KAT. The truth is, I actually really respect KAT for all the things he’s endured while he’s here. I mean we were 16-66 the year before we drafted him and I was really banking on LaVine and Wiggins, KAT got me so excited. Even when we traded LaVine I just figured KAT was that guy. After all the injury history and all the COVID shit, I really would like to see just one more opportunity for KAT to be able to prove he can bring us to a 50 win season and a deep playoff run on the Wolves. If we are like a 6-8 seed or god forbid worse then I’d suggest trading him at the deadline and ripping the bandaid off while you can. I love KAT but that’s the honest truth. Btw, I think the Wolves will win 50 games and surprise a lot of people this year.

He probably couldn’t wait to get the season over so he could take his girlfriend on vacation. Minnesota should have been traded him or they should be on the phones right now. The only way to semi fix this Gobert trade is to send KAT out. And they need to get that whole front office out everyone who goes and works for that organization automatically goes into dummy mode. While a lot of the points are true, we must defend Towns to some extent. He missed 52 games this regular season due to injury, while learning how to play the 4 with Rudy Gobert, while ALSO learning how to be a 2nd option behind Edwards. Life has also been extremely rough on him after position so much of his family from COVID. As a Minnesota fan, I don't think we get a great return for him at the moment. So, him being dubbed as "passive" and "soft" are almost excusable when the Wolves are never expected to make a real push and you're financially compensated. It's almost like why Damian Lillard will never leave Portland: it's much more comfortable to sit at your own pace, avoid mass scrutiny and make top dollar. Jimmy Butler is not an authority on a talent like KAT. Kat is the face and hard worker of the Wolves. His personality is one of calmness. Jimmy Butler needs to check out his lack of focus. He gets traded for his opinion.

Butler went full toxic teammate on his way out the door and everyone just bought the bullshit he was selling. People think being loud = being tough.

I guess like Wiggins, KAT is not just wired to be that alpha male wolf that everybody had thought of

There's players like Paul George, who will openly admit they can't be the #1 option. Then there's players like KAT, who don't need to say a thing, because you see it in his game

An academy coach who has spawned quite a few pros once told me that talent alone isn't enough, you need three things to maximize it. He then pointed to his temple, to his heart and his balls. Kat has offensive talent.

I'm from Minnesota, when everyone was hyped for KAT i couldnt see it. Hes a 2nd option as best, definitely not a franchise player.
