Man, while I loved Tamers, I think Kurata is my favorite overall villain for Digimon. He was such an irredeemable bastard, but he was just... I dunno, the perfect foil for the basic idea of Digimon? Like, the idea of Digimon is that we are supposed to live in harmony with these entities that could destroy us with a thought. However, it is through cooperation that the two entities realize they're greater than the sum of their parts. Kurata (and to some extent Yggdrasil) are basically the antithesis to this entire concept. Additionally, while this isn't my favorite season, I will admit, this season did leave an impact on me because, while I was playing Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, a concept was brought up during it, and my first thought, I shit you not, was "... That sounds like Digi-Soul..."

Same but with Xenoblade. I finished my playthrough of Xenoblade 1 on 3DS around the same time I watched this season and I drew parallels to both Zanza and even Alvis to Yggdrasil.

This season was my introduction to digimon. My first exposure to it was seeing a 10-ish page book at a bookfair when i was really young and rose an eyebrow to it Also, i love Yoshi; she's a big mood

One thing I really liked about this season was how MC punched the shit of digimon dats pretty fresh for digimon franchise

I was not expecting a Spectrobes cameo. Goated series

I don't understand how anyone can think Savers is an inferior season when Digimon Adventure 02 was our second go about.

I think one shuttle aspect not many people realize is when Thomas seemingly joined Kurata, Kurata recruited him in a combo of ways he recruited his prior henchmen.He used his family like he did for Ivan, he stroke his ego like he did Nanami, and finally used anti Marcus Damion feelings like he did for Kouchi. He combined all his prior manipulations that he used different aspect for each individual, and used it all on Thomas.

One of the reasons why I think Kurata is the best human antagonist of the series.

In an episode focusing on Keenan, Marcus does in fact say “got it memorized” like Axel

I am confused by complaints about this season trying too hard to be serious. Are those people forgetting about the following silly antics; -Marcus' little sister gets mad and wishes for a bunch of bad things to happen to him, and a hostile Digimon causes slapstick to ensue. -Yoshino believes Augumon beat up a bunch of people, and at the end of the episode it turns out that was really Marcus. -Thomas tries to plan the perfect birthday for Kristy, and his planning is derailed by her not being interested in any of it, which among other things means the rich guy needs to have someone buy him lunch since he doesn't carry cash. -The running gag of Kurata's idiot henchman blurting this out, saying he wouldn't say that outloud before someone explains he just said the thing he said he wouldn't say. Kurata murders lots of Digimon but aside from him being human his villainy isn't anything we haven't seen before. Still him being human helps make him someone you can love to hate because he doesn't have any "cool" traits like an evil Digimon, he's a self righteous coward who sends everyone else to do his dirty work and the only time he gets involved himself is when he's in control of a Digimon he's convinced is invincible. To give the show some more credit, we didn't know about Kurata's plan with Belphemon in advance, which would have made it obvious his plan to kill ElDradimon was going to succeed. We had a huge battle and our villain actually managed to win despite suffering from a number of setbacks. It served to show how dangerous he was despite just being human. And all the more satisfying when despite all of his work to gain power through slaughter, Kurata's ultimate weapon still feel before the power of a Digimon and human partnership. ShineGreymon and Marcus showed how outclassed Kurata was by not even using any fancy attacks, they just punched him.

The team vs the royal knights alone was worth watching

Fair enough but I found it boring and repetitive for the first half.

i kind of felt like marcus chose to go to the digital world not just cause he loves agumon but also because he found something he really liked to do which is fighting to help the digital world and he doesn't want to give that up so easily not to say that thomas and yoshi or kennan didn't like doing this but i felt like yoshi and thomas had other things to fall back on and i think it was better for kennan to stay with his family after being separated for so long what do you think of my anylisis

On one hand Marcus does love digital world shit but on the other he just reunited with his dad years later but it was his choice so.

Digimon savers was digimon version of Pokemon special: both taught that physically fighting alongside superpowered pets can be inevitable So giving humans superpowers in mons series wasn't that superflous

If you say that just watch 02 and the formulaic structure of almost every episode.

Finding this show dubbed on DVD is a fucking nightmare now. The 2014 complete series box set is now out of print and goes for outrageously high prices. A sale on Amazon went for, get this, almost 400 dollars. And for some butt fuck reason, no one thinks to use THAT footage when showing it on pirate sights, and instead use low quality TV rips. It’s literally the only way I’ve been able to watch the dub and finding for a reasonable price is exhausting. “Oh but why don’t you just watch the subbed version since that’s in HD” That may be true…… but I don’t wanna watch it subbed, I wanna watch it dubbed.

I got really lucky buying Data Squad on DVD because I bought it pretty much as soon as it came out in 2016. My best hope is that people have torrented the season online. Thats how I was able to get season 2/arc 2 of Fusion/Xros Wars since those are even more scarce to find.

@@AJSmashing it’s a sad time to be a Data Squad fan. Seasons 1-4 get modern releases in big easy to find box set for cheap. But Data Squad gets the shaft, not even getting released in the box set containing Adventure-Frontier, the 1-5 set only getting released in Region 4 countries. I really hope Discotek or some company gets the rights to the show for a modern release, especially since Discotek recently gave us Blu Ray releases for both the dub and sub versions of Adventure, as well as uncut dubs for the Adventure movies.

Nah. The game just uses similar ideas from data squad. The Royal knights being antagonists and Yggdrasil’s avatar being an enemy in the final dungeon

To be honest I never thought of that. But considering he created the digital world and rei being the mother of all Digimon. I would consider Yggdrasil as a computer program that went rogue similar to the d-reaper.

At first I didn’t like it when it. First but I watched the whole season when it first aired but I got into it loved the DNA charge and burst mode this deserves a sequel plus the music was rocking definitely one of my favs Digimon season ohh and king draisil was really cool too

This to me was the last great digimon season Fusion was boring and lazy None of the battles had any stakes or tension in them even the final battle which every digimon season prior to it had a finale where I was invested but in fusions finale I just didn’t care like I know it’s cliche to coin the phrase “the fate of 2 worlds” in digimon finales but it’s true you see and feel that fate even in this finale the digital world is falling from the sky and they have to fix the dimensional barrier I honestly think digimon should’ve stopped here

Data Squad was a fun romp. And while I think Fusion was a fine season, except for how Nickelodeon handled the show, it was for the most part a fun season. But yeah I agree after data squad the later seasons were meant to serve gimmicks. Granted you can argue that has been around since frontier but at least there it was honest about it.

@@Tari_10_Editz Ghost Game could have been a lot better imho. The episodic formula was neat, but there was no substance to the story and the climax felt forced. It started getting stale after Gulus shows up for the first time. Honestly, I'd like to see Smashing do a revision video like he did with 02
