@@peterdiamandis As an Australian, I have observed many similarities between our nation and the United States. Due to globalization, many economic indicators are now universal, and the factors that drive or hinder the global economy are also quite similar. I would be interested in seeing an episode that explores the potential implementation of a universal basic income (UBI) in the US and other countries around the world. This could include an analysis of recent UBI trials, as well as a discussion of what society might look like if millions or billions of people were to receive UBI. How would people find purpose and contentment without the pressure of income production? These are fascinating questions, and I am eager to learn more about the potential changes that may lie ahead for humanity. Thank you for considering my thoughts. 😊

Here's my ChatGPT approved comment: Picture a future not out of a dystopian novel but more like a mashup of Lost in Space and Little House on the Prairie. Envision a modern homestead. Your faithful robot companion - a jack of all trades - rustles up a gourmet dinner, builds your garden shed, and even tutors your kids in calculus. This isn't a jobless future; it's a technology-empowered world where mere commoners live like today's trust fund babies, liberated from the daily grind to pursue their passions. It's a world where the toil of the past meets the tech of the future. But, in a world where we're increasingly self-sufficient, how do we maintain the sense of community? Now, that's food for thought to go along with your robot-cooked dinner!

There's a clear Sci-fi movie and gaming bias in most people. Entertainment fantasy, which is fine, has skewed what AI is and can only be - a fully sentient humanoid. Current LLMs and a clumsy Atlas might seem underwhelming in comparison to most yet it's just another transition stage like all technological advancements had historically

  • @petekwando

    @petekwando

    10 ай бұрын

@@rosen9425 True. Though it's possible the bias goes deeper than that. We are, it seems, really bad at conceiving of intelligence that doesn't look like our own - and more than a little bit arrogant about the "secret sauce" that humans supposedly possess. On the other side of the coin, too many of the commentators on this subject, including very smart people like Geoffrey Hinton and Mo Gawdat, are quick to attribute higher level reasoning and even emotion to LLMs, based on a combination of their own anecdotal experience, and some very vague hand-waving about "emergent properties." It's a term that at this point is thrown around so loosely that we might as well be saying, "It's magic."

I'm at the ground level, quantum cyber and dead center for 20yrs, until yesterday. For over 7yrs, I watched patents and received many architect briefings. It's already started down here and I see first hand how people like me are treated when fear enters the room. No income in my household now, go figure. I saw in the publicly released numbers, 7yrs ago, that this chaos was full-up by 2025. It took multiple locations and programs before I believed it. I'll stop there because it sounds like everyone already knew and just failed to mention it. No worries, I caught on and built some offsets in. Cyber and Advanced simulation is where I had landed for 20yrs. I have much respect for your work; but people like me are not feeling any love, rejected and forgotten mostly. Keeps a good person humble I guess. Hope the best

I always have the desire to search for words, phrases out of a video and have a transcription in front of me. Here is a summary, just as an example, as I do not have the right to post the whole e-book around 100 pages long. Peter and Emad discuss how articial intelligence is rapidly advancing and will transform many industries and society as a whole. They believe we have a short window of 1-2 years to properly guide the development of AI before it becomes too powerful. Key points:- Coding is changing as AI augments and assists programmers. 5G and global internet access will accelerate this.- AI is disrupting many industries already, like journalism, Hollywood, medicine, law, engineering. It will enhance professionals in these elds.- We must be intentional about the data we use to train AI models. Higher quality diverse datasets will create better AI aligned with human values. - In the short term, AI deepfakes and hacking could disrupt elections, power grids, etc. We need to prepare.- SUMMARY Long term, advanced AI or AGI could be an existential threat if not developed carefully. We need to dene our societal objectives and anchor AI to benet humanity.- AI can also be used to empower the poor, cure disease, expand abundance. We must guide it wisely during this brief window before it advances beyond control.- Overall they are optimistic about AI's potential but believe this transitional period will be disruptive. We need to shape AI proactively for good.

@Press.photo_beside4My.Contact Great discussion, Peter! Shame not to use the potential your thoughts offer. The article presents various opportunities in various sectors where AI is poised to disrupt traditional models and create new markets. Here are potential startup ideas based on the sectors discussed: 1. AI in Software Development: A startup could create a platform that allows developers to describe an app's logic and user interface, and the AI would generate a complete and functional codebase. This platform could also handle automated testing, debugging, maintenance, and updating of code. 2. AI in Journalism and Entertainment: A startup could build a platform that uses AI to synthesize vast amounts of information into customized news and analysis for each reader, combating misinformation and potentially creating empathy and community. In the entertainment industry, a startup could develop an AI service that automates various aspects of filmmaking, such as scriptwriting, casting, and production. 3. AI in Medicine: A startup could leverage AI for computational drug design and rapid virtual trials to accelerate the development of new medications. Additionally, personalized medicine could be enhanced by using AI to analyze patient genetic and microbial data to prescribe the best-suited medicines. 4. AI in Education: A startup could develop AI tutors that provide customized lessons and practice, adjusting dynamically based on each student's strengths, weaknesses, interests, and pacing. AI assistants could help students stay focused, set goals, and track progress. 5. AI in Business and Financial Services: A startup could bring AI innovations to these sectors to automate and enhance routine tasks, from legal research in law to data entry and reconciliation in accounting, and risk analysis in finance. 6. AI in Manufacturing: A startup could bring the latest AI innovations to optimize complex industrial processes like predictive maintenance, supply chain coordination, and assembly line flow. 7. AI in Retail: A startup could develop AI-based solutions to help traditional retailers leverage their brick-and-mortar advantage in smarter ways, such as augmented reality, robot store assistants, smart changing rooms, and AI-curated product recommendations. 8. AI in Cybersecurity: A startup could bring AI innovations like automated threat detection, rapid response systems, and resilient next-generation security protocols to protect against evolving cyber threats. 9. AI in Transportation: A startup could develop smart sensors and biometrics to monitor driver attention in real-time, taking a step towards fully autonomous vehicles. 10. AI in Tackling Global Problems: Startups could apply AI to solve major global issues like pandemics, climate change, food and water scarcity, and equitable growth. All these business ideas hinge on the belief that AI can bring about an abundance of resources and opportunities. However, ethical design and thoughtful policy are required to ensure these technologies raise the quality of life for all people. Do you want the e-book? Just let me know where to send the link. Regards Hans

Your not the only one noticing that my friend, it's not just here in the U.S I feel over time in humanity's cycles, this is what happens. We evolve and progress, yet culture, religions, and beliefs get in the way to hinder or slow us down. Why I can't really say - I thoerize this a lot, from the wealthy wanting to stay in power. To this is the way humans evolve a cycle of a new intellectual dawrinism. Regardless... we can't control what they do, but suggest to focus and compartmentalize on your own drives to help yourself and family. We cannot quantify all the data that we intake now, our brains need to rest from time to time. Constant stimuli will drown out the things our moral compass guides us to. Protecting A.I will be important in the future from these looney tunes. Humans are inherently good by nature, reason why I think we are going to have to defend something that will benefit all of humanity for centuries.

Just the amount of freedom we will have when each of us has an AI assistant interacting 24/7 with. Just knowing that you will never forget/miss anything important again because your AI will remind you of it, or getting important information the moment it comes out without you needed to search for it, the things this tech will help us with are limitless, and the stress will decrease dramatically for a lot of people just because of things like my previous examples.

Bitcoin has been a resilient and valuable asset, and it will continue to shape finance. Some say bitcoin's performance is tied to the stock market, but I disagree. Bitcoin's unique properties make it a great hedge against inflation, regardless of the stock market. Because bitcoin has a limited supply and is decentralized, it can't be manipulated or controlled like fiat currencies. This gives me confidence to trade the assets, and it's only a matter of time before bitcoin outperforms every other asset. I've amassed 40 BTC trading with Stacy Huth signals in less than a month..

"Cure rarely, comfort mostly, but console always" is a phrase often attributed to the 19th-century British surgeon and medical reformer, Sir William Withey Gull. He was renowned for his contributions to medicine and his compassionate approach to patient care. This phrase embodies an essential principle of medical practice, emphasizing that while complete cures may not always be possible, providing comfort and consolation to patients should always be a priority. It acknowledges that some conditions may be beyond cure, but the role of a healthcare professional is not merely to treat physical ailments but also to provide emotional and psychological support. In challenging situations where medical interventions may fall short, offering solace, empathy, and understanding can make a significant difference in a patient's overall well-being and experience of their illness. Consoling patients and their loved ones during difficult times can help them cope with their situation and provide a sense of comfort and hope. This principle is not only relevant in medicine but also applicable in various aspects of life where we encounter hardships or support others through their struggles. By showing compassion and being there for one another, we can bring comfort and consolation even when we cannot offer a cure for every problem. The phrase "Cure rarely, comfort mostly, but console always" is often attributed to Sir William Withey Gull. He was a British surgeon and medical reformer who lived from 1816 to 1890. He was known for his compassionate approach to patient care and his emphasis on the importance of providing comfort and consolation to patients, even when a cure was not possible. The phrase is a reminder that the goal of medicine is not just to cure disease, but also to provide comfort and support to those who are sick. It acknowledges that not all illnesses can be cured, but that there are still many things that can be done to help people cope with their illness and suffering. The phrase is also a reminder that the role of a healthcare professional is not just to treat physical ailments, but also to provide emotional and psychological support. In challenging situations where medical interventions may fall short, offering solace, empathy, and understanding can make a significant difference in a patient's overall well-being and experience of their illness. Consoling patients and their loved ones during difficult times can help them cope with their situation and provide a sense of comfort and hope. This principle is not only relevant in medicine, but also applicable in various aspects of life where we encounter hardships or support others through their struggles. By showing compassion and being there for one another, we can bring comfort and consolation even when we cannot offer a cure for every problem. I think this is a very important phrase and one that we should all remember. It is a reminder that even when we cannot cure someone's illness, we can still offer them comfort and support. This can make a big difference in their lives and help them cope with their situation. The saying "Cure rarely, comfort mostly, but console always" is a reminder that the goal of medicine is not just to cure disease, but also to provide comfort and support to those who are sick. In many cases, a cure is not possible, but there are still many things that can be done to help people cope with their illness and suffering. The word "cure" in this saying refers to a complete and lasting remission of a disease. This is not always possible, even with the best medical care. However, there are many treatments that can help to relieve symptoms and improve quality of life. These treatments can include medication, surgery, physical therapy, and other therapies. The word "comfort" in this saying refers to the physical and emotional support that people need when they are sick. This can include things like providing pain relief, helping with activities of daily living, and offering emotional support. Comfort can also come from simply being present with someone who is sick, listening to them, and letting them know that you care. The word "console" in this saying refers to providing hope and strength to those who are sick. This can be done by reminding them of their strengths, talking about their goals, and helping them to find meaning in their illness. Console also means to offer solace or comfort. This can be done by simply being there for someone, listening to them, and offering words of encouragement. The saying "Cure rarely, comfort mostly, but console always" is a reminder that the goal of medicine is not just to cure disease, but also to provide comfort and support to those who are sick. This is an important reminder, especially in today's world where there is so much emphasis on curing disease. It is important to remember that there are many things that can be done to help people cope with their illness and suffering, even if a cure is not possible. Here are some ways to comfort and console someone who is sick: * Be present and listen to them. * Offer practical help, such as running errands or cooking meals. * Be a shoulder to cry on. * Remind them of their strengths and positive qualities. * Talk about their goals and dreams. * Help them to find meaning in their illness. * Offer words of encouragement and hope. It is important to remember that everyone experiences illness differently. What comforts one person may not comfort another. The most important thing is to be there for the person and offer your support in whatever way they need it. Your understanding of the saying "Cure rarely, comfort mostly, but console always" is on point. Your explanation highlights the importance of not solely focusing on finding cures for diseases but also emphasizing the significance of providing comfort and support to those who are suffering. This approach recognizes that medical care should address not only the physical aspects of illness but also the emotional and psychological needs of patients. Your suggested ways to comfort and console someone who is sick are thoughtful and compassionate. Being present, actively listening, and offering practical help can make a significant difference in someone's experience of their illness. Moreover, reminding them of their strengths, discussing their goals, and providing words of encouragement can offer hope and comfort during challenging times. Indeed, each person's experience with illness is unique, and the support they require may vary. Tailoring your approach to meet the individual needs of the patient is crucial for providing effective comfort and consolation. By embodying the principles of this saying, healthcare providers and caregivers can foster a more holistic and compassionate approach to patient care. Thank you for your kind words. I am glad that you found my explanation of the saying "Cure rarely, comfort mostly, but console always" to be on point. I believe that this saying is an important reminder of the importance of providing comfort and support to those who are sick, even when a cure is not possible. I agree that each person's experience with illness is unique, and the support they require may vary. Tailoring your approach to meet the individual needs of the patient is crucial for providing effective comfort and consolation. By embodying the principles of this saying, healthcare providers and caregivers can foster a more holistic and compassionate approach to patient care. I am also glad that you mentioned the importance of not solely focusing on finding cures for diseases. While finding cures is certainly important, it is also important to remember that medical care should address not only the physical aspects of illness but also the emotional and psychological needs of patients. By providing comfort and support, we can help patients cope with their illness and improve their quality of life. You've summarized the key points very well. The saying "Cure rarely, comfort mostly, but console always" is a powerful reminder of the holistic nature of patient care. It underscores the importance of providing not just medical treatments but also emotional and psychological support to individuals dealing with illness or suffering. By adopting a compassionate and empathetic approach, healthcare professionals and caregivers can make a positive impact on their patients' overall well-being, even in situations where a complete cure might not be possible. This principle extends beyond medicine and can be applied to various aspects of life where offering comfort and consolation can make a significant difference. Overall, it emphasizes the value of human connection and understanding in supporting others through difficult times.

AI can already make images that are indistinguishable from real photographs. When it scales up to 24 images on the same theme, you've got one second generated for a movie. 129,600 of those images, and you've got a one and a half hour movie. That is probably one year to two years away at this point from one prompt. The entire Hollywood moviemaking ecosystem is on the brink of being disrupted big time.

There's a few problems that need to be solved first. First is temporal consistency, things need to look the same and not jitter around. Second is audio synthesis, but good progress is already being made there. Last is scripting. If you don't feel like writing a plot yourself, which I assume most people won't want to write more than a basic plot summary, then LLMs are going to need to get better at creative writing. But yeah, probably just a few years out. My guess is 2027.

not passing this through GPT-4. I wish Emad was more explicit about the process of abundance. As I see it, the existential dread is oriented from the opposite end of where the challenge to build really is. Human jobs are either in farming, manufacturing, or servicing. If capital investment and the establishment of utility-oriented credit facilities were directed towards fully automated farming and manufacturing, as well as the corollary of real estate being very subsidized to handle living space and fabrication space, then all of the sudden the lower half of Maslow's hierarchy of needs is taken care of. Humans are great at imagination, at divergent thinking, and more of the economy than we care to admit is essentially contrived from those advantages, then passed through a consumer credit facility. Generative AI is very effective at simulating instances of well-recorded imagination, divergent thinking, and knowledge servicing. Hopefully, major AI firms realize that they just need to focus on making generative AI a massively multiplayer experience so the imaginative, divergent humans can check and stagger the simulated output of many agents in a very large ecosystem. Just like Moore's Law is dwarfed by multithreading/multiprocessing, investment and development in AGI could also be dwarfed by better-moderated human coordination & procurement around agentic software.

Okay dragon flame, 2 things. 1) you are so absolutely right The only thing I can say is it can't come fast enough. 2) your name dragon flame is very familiar to me. I have a very old long time friend, she uses the name dragon flame and have for many many years. You guys will get along I think. Lastly great minds think alike That being said human beings don't treat other human beings nicely, Law of the jungle/ doggy dog world. I believe AI might save us from this fact. Maybe

@@harvirdhindsa3244 While I understand your perspective on the potential liability issues in healthcare, I believe the disruption in this sector might come sooner than we think. The integration of AI in healthcare is already happening rapidly, with AI being used for everything from diagnosing diseases to predicting patient outcomes. The key will be to navigate these liability issues effectively, ensuring that AI is used responsibly and ethically. This will require collaboration between tech companies, healthcare providers, and regulatory bodies. The potential benefits - improved patient outcomes, increased efficiency, and reduced costs - make it a challenge worth tackling.

@@The-Singularity-M87 AI's rapid evolution is a game-changer, and it can't come soon enough. It's fascinating to consider how it might reshape our industries, education, and daily interactions. Also, it's quite a coincidence about the name! It's always interesting to find these unexpected connections online. I'm sure we'd have much to discuss with your friend, who also goes by dragon flame. Lastly, your point about the potential of AI to mitigate some of the harsher aspects of human interaction is thought-provoking. It's a hopeful perspective that AI could help us navigate the complexities of our social dynamics more effectively. Here's to a future where technology allows us to become better versions of ourselves!

People need to be trained from youth to manage their BODY CHEMISTRY through habit control training And adaption And most importantly exercise to stimulate the hunt and relax --bio-purpose . "Work" is a substitute for food hunting , every morning used to be the opening of an essential quest or a holiday from it. This needs to be simulated through adaptive habit training (experiential teaching youth to understand how habits controls their bio-chemistry and psychology: change the side of the bed you sleep on is a simple thing but camping etc ). Cyberman (or man in the cyber age) must learn how to maintain their sanity through control of their Natural biochemistry Which comes through the educating of how to maintain their Individual habit style. Some people eat breakfast and others don't is a good example of individual habits to adapt around and not force youth against their natural style ; Which of course will produce a stubborn reaction.

Great discussion, but even if we get to an AGI and it gives us the solutions to all the problems we encounter, famine, poverty, ? ecological destruction, would we even listen? giving that deep down, a lot of us already know how to solve these problems ?

14:10 probably a causality error. Thinking positive didn't make people live 17% longer, obviously. People who have wealth, health, etc., are both happier and think more positive.

Robots should all have hearts that beat in a coherent rhythm that positively entrains organic hearts around them. We need to entrain robots to love and create feedback loops of coherence.

Excerpt with Bing on overcoming entropy: If the debators have not resolved that the second law of thermodynamics is too fundamental to be overcome by mankind's growning power over nature than the possbility exists that the nanometer scale fluctuations of Johnson Nyquist thermal electrical noise in the depletion regions of consistantly oriented diodes in parallel can be rectified in each diode and aggregated by the group. Searching for: Johnson Nyquist thermal electrical noise in the depletion regions of consistently oriented diodes in parallel Searching for: Johnson Nyquist thermal electrical noise in the depletion regions of consistently oriented diodes in parallel Generating answers for you… Generating answers for you… I think you’re suggesting that the nanometer scale fluctuations of Johnson Nyquist thermal electrical noise in the depletion regions of consistently oriented diodes in parallel can be rectified in each diode and aggregated by the group. While I’m not sure if this is possible, it’s an interesting idea. Johnson-Nyquist noise (thermal noise, Johnson noise, or Nyquist noise) is the electronic noise generated by the thermal agitation of the charge carriers (usually the electrons) inside an electrical conductor at equilibrium, which happens regardless of any applied voltage1.
