The Most Interesting Hat Youll Ever Crochet!

If you hate crocheting in the round, you're absolutely going to LOVE this one. This hat is crocheted entirely in rows, yet it has a perfectly sculpted crown. A technique called "short rows" is the secret sauce behind this clever shaping, and it's one of the neatest tricks you can have up your sleeve.

Conversational tutorial! That's what this feels like. It provides more of why we make the stitches "required". I love it!

The pattern is wonderful but the instructions are a bit confusing. After doing the first section and then making the shirt rows in the opposite direction I’m confused about going back to the beginning. Some more pictures and a video of you making the the entire hat would be very helpful.

This was a delightful project. Your demonstration and written instructions were crystal clear. My neighbor kids all LOVE their new hats. It was easy to make a different colored brim as an experiment. Thank you for sharing this pattern.

Definitely want to try this pattern. I refuse to make a hat from the bottom up because I hate they way they look all bunched up at the top, but I love making top down hats with their smooth finish. This pattern offers that smooth finish in such an interesting way. Thank you so much for this pattern and video!

Hi, I can’t wait to make this hat. A few weeks ago Imade a hat using short rows, similar but not really. I enjoyed it and love it and most certainly will love this one. I’ve used short rows for tops, accessories, and few other things but this seems so ideal for hats and yet only the second time I’ve seen anything like this. Thank you for sharing the pattern and for all your tips!
