Love that the close-caption text says "applause" when water was tossed on the log. At first I was like, nice, that is beautiful and does deserve an applause... But then realised it is audio text and the water tossed on does sound a little like applause. 👏

I wonder could you epoxy fill and then cut it into a 3" thick table top, and get some cherry wood boards out of that at the same time? I'm building keepsake boxes for x-mas gifts and so I'm kind of drooling over that cherrywood I guess. ?That Wood Miser what a nice machine; Made in America.

I'm not normally a fan of the rotted/natural look of logs like that, but the darkness from the rot makes for a great contrast with the cherry. I live cherry wood, both for its color and its workability. Shame that I can't afford to use cherry more often... Around me the retail price of basic cherry wood starts at about $7 per KD board foot, more than curly or birdseye maple and not much less than walnut, and curly/figured or quartersawn cherry runs a few bucks more.

True and it's surprising how many don't seal the end grain. There are commercial preparations available like Anchor Seal, but cheap latex houseplant works as well. Roll it on one end and when you'er done, go put another coat on the first end and then back. I know some guys who run a tree service and bring down a lot or big urban trees. They sell the saw logs on the spot and the dude who buys them is often there when they come down. He does his sealing before even loading them.
