Oh god yes. Her voice in Advent Children was highly inconsistent! She started off strong, then descended into something that sounded like the VA either (a) didn't care or (b) wasn't briefed on how she was supposed to deliver her lines.

I love this scene so much because it shows Tifa's character and how she holds Cloud accountable. As soon as Tifa woke up, Cloud tried to divert the subject by bringing up the kids, but Tifa was having none of it. "We'll talk about the kids in a minute Cloud, first you're going to tell me why you would just fuck off and die like that. How could you do that to me?"

@@natsukiarima3189 Yep, it's all about Cloud moving on from his guilt, which he does by the end of the movie. You know the quote I find most interesting out of all those is "The more Cloud is tormented by painful “memories” of the past." Why is the word "memories" put in quotation marks? Because his "memories" of what happened to Aerith and Zack were when he was not his real true self, so to the real Cloud, they're not pure memories as they happened when he was his fake/SOLDIER separate personality.

One thing I didn't notice watching this scene for the first time until now, is that at 0:26, Tifa is trying to hold back tears after realizing that Cloud was going to let the Geostigma kill him. She clearly loves him. Ya'll can't look at that and say she wasn't about to cry. I can't wait to see how they'll expand their relationship in the remake!

You didn't catch it? Cloud's response was: "But, I let you die." That wasn't a response to Tifa's question. That's a response to Aerith. It wasn't Tifa's words that shook him out of it, it was Aerith's question of whether or not it was time for Cloud to be one doing the forgiving.

It's really not great. It does it's job as fanservice... Debatably. But the script, va, plot, editing, pacing, key beats were absolutely awful. As FF fans, we now know what is possible and should demand the quality of Rebirth everytime. This is substandard in comparison, as was the debacle that is Dirge.

It always breaks my heart to see the extent of heartbreak that Aerith's death caused. On top of Zack's...Cloud deserves to be happy, more than anything. He placed all the blame on himself despite Aerith not once believing that he was at fault :'( It was so heartbreaking-

I finally got around to watching AC for the first time (stuck with the Complete version) and all this talk about how Cloud is super moopy and “emo” in AC... from my perspective, the poor guy had too much weight to carry on his shoulders. Aerith’s passing really did affect him greatly, alongside with Zack. Even though none of these circumstances was his fault, Cloud still felt guilty about loosing them. Imagine loosing someone who meant so much to you, on a level as a sibling, and then they die in the most crucial way right in front of you. I don’t think anyone would be able to handle such trauma. I want to say that Cloud was most likely suffering from depression and added on PTSD as a result, which is why he wanted to remove himself away from others for the next couple years. After watching the film, I felt so bad for him. He needed so much comfort. 😭 But, at least the ending put a smile on my face when he saw a vision of Aerith and Zack, reassuring him that he did everything he could to save them and not to be so hard on himself. His soft smile at the end.... damn near broke me to tears. This chocobo bean does deserve to be happy. 💕

Then again, it could simply be because the developers have since moved on from FF7's continuation to focus on other FF tales.

In Japanese dub Tifa actually asks Cloud: "Did we....lose to a memory?" (" 私たち…思い出に負けたの? ") instead of "Which is it...a memory or us?"

In the "Reminiscence of Final Fantasy VII" video you can hear Cloud talking to Tifa on the phone asking to close the bar and take the next day off so that they can enjoy the day together with Denzel and Marlene. It's a step in the right direction because Cloud is TRYING this time.

@@HazasDump it's something square didn't make clear in the movie and ultimately had to explain later. According to nomura cloud is getting his memories he lost in crisis core back, this includes the bad ones like being tortured and experimented on for four years straight by hojo. So cloud is suffering from PTSD on top of his survivor's guilt and contracting geostigma just made him decide to give up. Zack and aerith walking away into the afterlife at the end after saying goodbye is meant to signify cloud finally coming to terms with their deaths.

With the way Cloud behaves, it's implied his main reason why he didn't want to go to the Forgotten City was because it's the place where he failed to protect Aerith. If you understand his whole character arc from the events of the original game, he's depressed because of his survivor's guilt due to the memories of his past trauma from Zack and Aerith's deaths. Ironically, going back to a place called the Forgotten City is understandably hard.

OMG IKR! Her tone is so motherly in remake, but still has that fighter with a heart feel to it. I’m so glad remake got new voice actors because a lot of these old ones wouldn’t have sold as many scenes in remake like Tifa crying or barret after the plate falls. The only 2 OG VA’s i liked better were sephiroth and zack. (Not saying the new ones are bad, they are good imo, but the old ones are better imo.)

When he is talking to Vincent about sins they both clearly bonding over their failure to protect their loved ones and Vincent mostly understands Cloud's pain, grief and turmoil.

In Advent Children Cloud seems to have severe case of Cherophobia namely that he fears being happy because he feels that moments of happiness and joy will be taken away from him and tragedy or trauma will always ruin it. He seems even more moody and depressed than Batman.

Man, Tifa's English voice does not sell it for me here. The voices in this movie, both the English and Japanese, but ESPECIALLY the English are really hit-or-miss (probably in large part because of trying to match lip sync), but I'll give a lot of credit to Quinton Flynn as Reno for legitimately sounding like he gives a damn. I just like to watch this part for Reno and Rude in the background around 2:00. I have no idea what Reno is doing but Rude is pushing him in a way that reminds me of a clumsy attempt at moving a cat out of the way.

Tifa and Cloud's voice in ff7 advent children are so quiet sometimes i couldn't hear them talking

I have to agree with Tifa about the fact that Cloud always has his hands tied and there are ways for Cloud to untie his hands

When I'm struggling with life, I'll always remember what Tifa used to say, "Dilly Dally Shilly Shally!"

Still love the fact that I have this on Blu-ray. To revisit the memories.

@@RiazAhmed-cr1re I mean it's not just that, he remembered he is Zack's living legacy, and letting Aerith die is also him failing Zack. That's why you see Zack encourage him during the fight with Sephiroth, that he still is Zack's living legacy.

@@boxtupos7718 Yeah, and remember that in the first scenes Cloud is seen going to visit Zack's death place, and saying that he has kept on living because of him. Also, this scene depicts the immense emo-guilt phase he is going through, that is why Aerith says: "Isn't it time you do the forgiving?". This scene is just gold because of all those tiny elements. :)

The character building in this game is just amazing

When she said "Dilly dally shilly shally"... I felt that.

Ahhh advent children, one of the most favorite movie in my childhood. The best thing to end the beautiful ff vii series

Even though I´ve never played Final Fantasy, and I´ve got no idea who they are, this sure is emotive

Rude and reno in the background always gets me 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah man. Advent children actually has some really interesting character moments and a really great opportunity to flesh out a thematic core surrounding grief. Unfortunately that makes up about 5 minutes of the entire runtime. The rest is action basically. Cloud being depressed and filled with grief at the loss of Aerith, and Tifa helping him through that, is such a fantastic idea. But like I said it’s basically 5 minutes and the rest is anime motor cycle fights.

Thats not true the whole idea is through the whole movie. The begining showing cloud not picking up tifas calls, quarter of the way in when the last message is aerith saying she never blamed cloud for what happend. The middle when cloud is able to beat bahumut with help from everyone he cares about including tifa and Aerith. The 75 percent mark where he has to fully confront his demons in sephiroth, as well as his resulting talk with Zack pushing him forward. And the end with cloud finally letting go being bathed on the purifying water to symbolically heal himself and and his geostigma along with everyone else. I get there are a lot of cool fights in the movie, but your interpretation is a clear misunderstanding of the movies themes because of being distracted by the action. Dont worry your not the only one. But it's something that requires actually paying attention to the scenes of the movie in question.

So many words, Tifa, and the message Cloud needs to hear is so simple: *"PUT YOUR FUCKING MAN PANTS ON, DUDE!"*

This hurts my heart while hearing aerith theme.

I still remember watching AC as a kid, so glad they are reviving the series w the remakes

I find it so sad how people are quick to say Cloud is « emo » in the movie when it’s clear that he’s depressed and feel extreme guilt over the past. If his character was a girl, I bet the critics would be so much less intense. It just goes to show how society expects men to never be vulnerable. I think that’s what makes his character so great, that vulnerability and realism. Because if I was in his place, I would feel the same.

I watched another version probably the dubbed one where Tifa asked Cloud "what am i to you, am i not better than the memories?". I felt that is more meaningful questions. Its sounds strict or straight forward questions that Tifa been keeping to herself and she felt that its time to get Cloud's confirmation on thier relationships.

This speech relates to my life so much. I let the old me die after rock bottom and its hard to move passed a memory.

He also looks for Aerith in the fields of yellow flowers at the end of AC and guess what... There she is. Waiting for Cloud. Tifa trying all she wants and yet it's still Aerith that saves him, physically, emotionally and mentally. He sees her in the church after Sephiroth fight in AC and smiles back at her. He SMILES. If it wasn't for her he would've died in FFVII, he would've died in AC or at very least, he would've stayed broken. Cloud just can't let her go. It's heartbreaking. I hope he saves her this time, just to see him smile.

I imagine, when Zack died Cloud was so shaken that he created a false persona with false memories, when Aerith died he was depressed for years, imagine what his reaction would be if Tifa died

I think the fans can create a better scene by re-cutting and rewriting some of the dialogue. Like I can see parts of there this can be great, but it is hard.

After what he did to Tifa. I don't have sympathy for him, he is an adult he should know better. He could have taken care on Denzel I the church instead of adding more work to Tifa.

@@P1eceTheo context of the scene Tifa is confronting Cloud here as his significant other. Rude and Reno are uncomfortable witnessing what seems to be a couple arguing. Tifa slams her hand down making her point camera focuses on the ring specifically for a good second. The viewer can clearly notice it.. visual storytelling without hitting the viewer over the head with dialogue specifically telling you they are in a relationship. This scene is echoed later Cloud rescues Tifa during Bahamut attack and says "sorry I'm late too much dilly dallying" Tifa smiles hops on the bike and rides off with Cloud ring once again can be seen. Though not the focus, for viewers paying attention its there.

Not sure how people can dislike the new voice actors

After Square finishes the final game of the remake they should expand on the story of the compilation of Final Fantasy 7 when Cloud senses a universal threat bigger than Sephiroth, Genesis, Hojo, Deepground, shinra, Jenova, Loz, Yazoo, and Kadaj. I would love to see the Final Fantasy 7 universe expand after the events of Derge of Cerbus so Square can start to add more new characters, games, and films to get to that point like the Russos did in the MCU. I want to see Cloud and Tifa share their feelings for each other and and have Cloud start to show signs that he loves Tifa like Cloud did back in his childhood, and Tifa show signs that she loves Cloud, Cloud and Tifa deserve a happy ending together. Story wise I believe there is someone eviler that Sephiroth that wants to destroy the universe and Cloud and his friends have to save the universe. That’s why I believe this compilation of Final Fantasy 7 is not fully complete.

Jenova resurrection could either be the ultimate end boss of the ff7 universe, or have jenova just be one of her kind who wants to invade earth, similar to kaguya and the otsutsuki in naruto. Just my two cents

@DarkMoon "a dead woman that he barely even knew"...guess this is Aerith now... or maybe, we can call it being the protagonist of this entire story, the person who is also the life of the plot and the person ff7 couldn't do without. Cloud is not the problem here, the fact is that Aerith is the protagonist with whom everything begins and ends. The connection that our group has with Aerith is not meant to be based on just relationships, it's much more ingrained than that, she is the center and root of everything that occurs. Aerith is the hope of the planet and the hope for our guys, she represents the light in peoples lifes and the birth of another, better Midgar, so Cloud mourning for her doesn't have any romantic or existential connotation. She is just an important part in everybody's lifes, someone who managed to change them forever. After witnessing her death and blaming myself for what happened, that would be enough even for me, to fall in a deep spiral of guilt and it would be hard to get out of there. When it comes to Tifa, I know what they have always meant and what they still mean for each other, who says that Cloud doesn't care, clearly doesn't get it. Her role is clear, so I don't want to waste words on that. I replied to you because it seems to me that you are the usual person who hates Cloud for the same recycled reasons, I just wanted to put out there my opinion for whoever's gonna read it, plus the person you mentioned, managed to insult both Cloud and the girls in the same comment, I can't even take it seriously. I'm not "excusing" him because he doesn't need that and I don't even need an excuse to like him/any other character, since they are important to me, no matter what people say. Maybe if people started to really appreciate something without the need to slander it anytime they can, they would probably understand what I mean...

Seeing the title and how the video started, i expected a joke, and honestly i'm pissed

I wish they remastered this movie with current VAs. The voice actors in Advent Children lack energy. Chapter 9 in Rebirth was also a very important conversation between those two. The mideel event will be very deep between those two.

You know watching this years after and with Final Fantasy VII Remake out and of course Intermission... I really hope that Zack & Aerith are alive this time.... come on. I loved those two characters hardcore.....
