The most important part of your wake to wake jump!
Ever wonder why your wake to wake jump doesn't feel like you go as high as you think you should? You may not be using the "PowerZone"! What in the world is the power zone while you're wakeboarding? Too often I see people changing parameters like wake size and then rope length, which leads to having to go faster, which can lead to harder falls. I use these two drills to not only give them some fun challenges, but ultimately leads to more progressive edges, which leads to more air and hang time.
Thanks for watching!
Enjoy your ride! ✌️
-Shaun

Shaun, at the age of 57, and with your guidance, I cleared the wake this weekend! It’s taken me a few months, but I finally did it. Thank you for the content that is helping me stay forever young.

Yes sir! Love the short power jumps! Back in the day (and now) no one around me seemed to appreciate the feel like me. So 🤜! Good stuff again! Thanks! There’s so much fun to be had and groove to be felt even without spins and invert’s. 😎

Fun time! 🤜✌️
This is super helpful. Thank you. I thought I had to get more speed which is pretty scary as a beginner. I've been watching a lot of your videos to try and learn how to wake to wake jump but this is the best yet. Can't wait to try these drills over the Aussie summer.

Good on ya mate!
I appreciate you explaining the load and release. It makes sense. I always hear professionals talk about the progressive edge, but I've never understood how you can do that without falling backwards. The load and release helps me understand it better.

Great to hear you've gotten your first wake boat. Even those are necessary but sure can help kick up the fun a few notches! Sorry for the late reply LRC

Thanks Shaun - 52 yo and just cleared my first wake to wake (shortened rope and 21 mph) on an older 2000 v drive. I'm super stoked. Will play around more, lengthen rope and speed up a bit. I still want to complete the tumble turn - maybe a goal for next season.

Woah it’s brilliant see you saying these things, for fun I’d slow the boat down step by step and try wake to wake, exactly like you just did in the video, maybe on a 60ft or 57.5ft handle. You confirmed my comment on your last video where to get a bigger wake you slow the boat down….work to a certain extent before it’s ruined by the cream. 🤟

If it wasn't 30 in Texas I'd go do the challenge right now
Awesome video! But I wish you had an angle from the boat. That way we could more easily understand where you are exactly standing in the power zone and how far out you are going. But overall a Great addition to your other fundamentals episodes. Super helpful. I look forward to meeting you for a lesson.

Awesome Video!!! Advice for doing this TS? You commented that it’s scary. I still struggle making it W2W TS and feel like I don’t have my TS power zone edge and angle figured out. Wonder if a TS drill like this would help.

@@StoneCosmos keep the rope long and the speed pretty slow (17-19) for now while working on TS. And just go for one wake jumps while doing this so you can work on traveling up rather than worrying about going across

I'm guessing you need a wakeboard specific rope with no stretch to do this best? I've never used a wakeboard specific rope. But I'm going to get one! I have the cheap PE ones
@Shaun.Murray
Жыл бұрын
Def don't have to have a wakeboard specific rope to ride but one of the keys to keeping good control is the handle being still. It's one of the keys to even getting up out of the water. Wakeboard ropes don't stretch very much and can help with keeping the handle still.
Shaun - I've certainly felt many times what you are doing here. Easiest example to me would be building for a heelside backroll but not completing the release. My issue is, staying on edge all the way to the top of the way seems to ensure that you maintain the most line tension possible. The line tension stays consistent throughout the time in the air. This makes grabs and spins more difficult. Bleeding a touch of edge and then standing tall and pulling makes those tricks much easier to me. Any thoughts?
@Shaun.Murray
Жыл бұрын
That's the release you're referring to. If people do a worm burner (stay low and don't get height) it usually comes from staying on the edge and not releasing the power.
I go wakeboarding every year and I know I’m going to make the wake to wake jump this year 😂
