Es sorprendente que alguien haya concebido La Armonía del Universo en plena primera guerra mundial, entre guerras, y durante la segunda guerra mundial. Fue la rebeldía de su sensibilidad de artista "contra un mundo caótico, materialista y autoritario" pero no para oponerse, sino para escapar de él : la abstracción carece de ideas.
