The body panels on the Bugatti were made from a magnesium-aluminum alloy. It couldn't be welded because of the flammability of the magnesium, hence the rivets. Didn't Alfa Romero direct Night Of The Living Dead?

The Ford GT40 was actually a British car made not far from London airport. It was based on the British Lola GT and the owner of Lola went into partnership with Ford to build the GT40. Ford chose Lola to produce the car because they already used Ford engines.

There is only one R in Alfa-Romeo. The Ford GT40 was designed by a british team and built in Slough, UK. Fords input was money. As for Ferrari check out the 330GTO. A 250GTO body to which Ferrari fitted a 4L motor, three were made.

CSX-2000, the very first Cobra made by Carroll Shelby should have made the list. It was one of the most iconic sports cars ever made. Also it sold for 13.5 million at RM Sotherbee's auction in 2016. More than the GT 40.

One of my friends has an original Ford GT40. It may come as a surprise to some people, but the GT40 was made by Ford Advanced Vehicles in England.

A great deal more American engineering went into this car' development than you wonderful Brits will ever admit to. Stop spreading totally untrue comments about this "joint venture" between the U.S. and Britain.

i wish i remembered what year model, but one of the queens of Englands vehicles is a La Salle, i know i guy that has the exact same car as her and according to record, the only other one that was manufactured was never put together as it was to be used as spare parts. but my friend came across it inside a large crate and had to call some bigwig in England before he could even build it because tis the only other one in existence. its priceless and has won every car show he has ever brough it to. so now it just stays in his warehouse.

also the reason the the Atlantic has the metal Finns was due to the aluminum cast being mixed with magnesium which was a hard metal to fuse so the made the Finns to bolt it together.

@Daniel Bulos - The body material used on the Bugatti Type 57 was called Electron - 97% magnesium and 3% other metals. Magnesium is both very light and strong. Problem is, it will also burn violently if exposed to very high temps. That's why the body of this car is riveted at the seam as it cannot be welded. The 1955 Mercedes 300 SLR that crashed at Le Mans and killed more than 80 people was magnesium also. It burns with the ferocity of a sparkler! Needless to say, it's not used for car bodies any more.

Also with the GT40, ford used the same chasis and and won 2 years in a row in Le Mans. First in history.

Number one (Bugatti) was made out of magnesium not aluminum. If you don't know the difference, please research because it's a marvel in itself, hence the reason for the riveted centers flanges. Magnesium is highly flammable at a certain temp but brittle at lower temps so to mold the body is a very craftsman esk adventure
