I just did Amazon deliveries all over Gary. The nicest people of any area of North West Indiana I've delivered in.

Thank you I delivered mail in the dorie miller and Delaney projects. I NEVER HAD ANY TROUBLE! There was an retired white lake station police office who delivered in both projects… no one bothered him. Furthermore, they wouldn’t let anyone bother him!!,

The Miller area of Gary has always been much more affluent than the remainder of Gary, as it was 'separated' from the downtown area and had many more 'executive' type people living there. My Mom had a place on the far east side, almost to County Line Road in the early 1980's where she wished she could move the entire house anywhere else; Great house/neighborhood going to Crap. Look at the condition(s) of the streets; even with these well-maintained houses, the roads are still very Gary-like in their upkeep.

Thank you for the tour. As a youngn I lived on Third Avenue than S. Hancock St. I saw the building I went to kindergarten and rode my bike on ☺️. I haven't been back since 2015.

I'm fascinated by Gary and its history... Thanks for the video and greetings from Brazil.

From Leo: I remember that area back in the 60's and 70's. It was really nice as was all of Glen Park. People in neighborhoods did not put up with crime, we all worked together. If you did not go out looking for trouble, no one bothered you. The city buses took you where you needed to go, fast and cheap. Broadway was thriving, 5th Ave had great businesses. I wish I could go back to 1966 Gary

When Hatcher got in, crime went through the roof. All crime is hate crime, if you loved your fellow man, your would not commit crimes against him.

$390,000.00 U can buy a house on Greenleaf by the river or on the north side here in Elkhart. Plus you'll have the $$$$ for the jobs that pays very well 🤯🤯

As a person who grew up in that part of gary indiana if u don't like it leave we love our city

People see trash..I see treasure and beauty.... Gary truly is a beautiful place. So is Miller. Hobart and Hammond too. All beautiful.

Gary is not bad - it's just that everything else is better.

Not surprising. Miller Beach is on the lake. As I said above keep heading east and you'll see that if you are looking for a summer home it's not bad. You can't live there year round and the schools are atrocious. No way your kids can live there. The people in Miller are older. I live in Chicago and when I was in HS we went to union pier new buffalo and Miller Beach in the summer. Later I had a house in union pier. Fun

Gary actually have about 3 neighborhoods with VERY NICE HOMES. one is between chase and cleveland in the 20's and Far east in Miller where there are 500,000 to 1 million dollar homes that would go for 1 to 2 million in Chicago

Gary has nice homes in the means manor subdivision. Built by a black contractor in the early 1950s!!!!!!!

Far more expensive houses are in Miller than the house you showed. Some of the lake front houses are fabulous. Miller did not consider themselves Gary Indiana. Ten miles north are the Beverly Estates along Lake Michigan which is a gated community.

Miller Beach butts up against Ogden Dunes, thats when the prices jump up. Nice homes, nice area 👍

The thing is no matter how nice the home or neighborhood, once you leave it you are still in Gary, IN.

There is another newer neighborhood around 19th-23rd and whitcomb with some nice homes.

Considering the price of the homes, alot of the roads through there are pretty bad...

Try looking at homes on Lake Shore Drive. There are new homes on the lake front, and along Wayne Street. Nevermind IRONWOOD DRIVE. The beach is always going to have homes worth more money.

lake shore drive extends all the way to Michigan Border. Through towns of Beverly Shores, Michiana and Long Beach and of course Michigan City. I used to deliver for FedEx all through there it was a NIGHTMARE

If you ever come back this way you need to talk to a local. You missed so much and you were literally just around the corner. You missed the beach which why the prices are higher.

Is there any way you can turn the volume down on the GPS it's kinda annoying.

We lived in Miller when I was 9 and 10 years old. On my street live a doctor(can't remember his name) and Dr. Ralph Brown a Dentist. Around the corner ewas a ex mayor. Interesting community.

The sadness of this place makes me so depressed. There were so many great things I remember from the 70's and early 80's. And not to be political but all those Democrats you guys keep voting in need to indicted for misappropriations of funds. There is a Mayor who was using funds and I don't know if there are any other current Mayors who are doing it but they are paying upwards over 50K for Democratic Only Parties at the Hard Rock very expensive Steak House. Where that Money could be repairing some of your streets, some of your Street Lights if not Stop Lights. Maybe PAY your COPS and Fire Fighters. Only the people in GARY can make it something Great again. But only if you VOTE independent or republican. And seriously look into your Mayors and other politicians use the Money that is supposed to be for YOU ALL. FOIA the city of Gary's accounts. YOU are the only ones who can. Believe me I want to see you all succeed I live in Hessville and I got my own issues how we are being treated. But Fight ya all. You guys who work hard deserves it. Pray for us all as I am.
