The engine in the Mercedes-Benz W196 grand prix racer was *not* from a WWII Messerschmitt airplane. It was a straight-8 racing engine designed specifically for the M-B racing cars. In addition to other advanced features of the engine, it used direct fuel injection of a design similar to the one Daimler-Benz had made for their Messerschmitt V-12 airplane engine. Nearly all - if not all - other cars of that time were still using carburetors.

@@shortandinteresting I was surprised no Porsche 917s made the list because I'd heard people claim they are worth $20-30 million but I think that was bravado more than fact. I did check and the #22 Steve MacQueen owned 917K went for $14M USD a few years ago. James May drove the #21 in a Grand tour episode saying it was worth £14 million which about 12 months ago would have put it just under $20M USD. Still off the list but damn close.

And the difference in the engine of W196: 2,5 liter displacement; engine of Messerschmitt BF109 33,9 litres displacement. quite a difference...

Years ago Innes Ireland was offered a G T O for $5,000.00. I often wondered where it is now. I saw G T O's race once at Kent racetrack by Seattle. They finished 4th and 6th with 3 Cobras taking 1,2 and 3. Jerry Grant was 5th in a Corvette. The thing that amazed me was how loud the Cobras were and how really quiet the G T Os were.

Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!!

Taking care of the homeless and hungry is not their job. It may seem harsh but its true. They are not responsible for people being hungry and homeless. You continue to chose incompetent governments that keep siphoning all the tax payers monies in their accounts through off short shell companies and kick backs. Its not their job to eradicate homelessness and hunger. If they do donate thats their kindness but not an obligation.
