Some people claim it's because Joseph spent 50 years in the US, but literally Part 2 ends on a timeskip where he's using the accent so he must've lost it on the airplane ride to Japan?

I’m really not trying to be rude but maybe you should improve your skills before you make a tv show. it’s hard to find followers if you’re not being the best that you can be. art and writing classes can really help, you have the creativity you just need to sharpen your skills. You really have a great imagination and a lot of creativity so keep writing and animating. shows like South Park did a great job at making simple character designs that fit the style of the show, it took them a lot of time and education to get to the point where their simple art could hook the audience. You have so much talent, keep going and keep improving.

As soon as I heard "Calobi" I instantly knew what was going to happen. I've heard of this guy before and he is definitely a very curious specimen. I remember he used to make really bad videos where he compiled "animation errors" and most of them weren't errors. They were, for example, lighting changes. Or once he purposefully erased Spongebob's tie in MS Paint and claimed it's the animators who forgot to draw Sponge's tie in a shot. Dang. Yeah.

  • @Dalton_Boardman2000

I've seen a few of his vids and it seems like he half understands everything he discusses. He was genuinely curious whether or not a Disney cartoon should discuss periods or if it was inappropriate for a young audience. Since periods start between 10 and 15 years old there's definitely kids in the target audience that could use that information. It's not rocket science, girls have periods and a cartoon with girls in it are allowed to acknowledge that. He really stretches out a simple concept to add to the runtime.

As a person who makes stories these are some ways i wouldve handled it: 1) Paige is the main character. Full stop. No confusion. We are following Paige and her struggles. One of them could BE that as she grew up she was a girl who was often sick in the hospital. The struggle could be that she feels helpless in the real world. As when shes awake, she is practically bed bound. With only her art to allow her to explore. If calobi MUST insert himself into the story, i belive it should have been a cameo backgeound character. 2) The dreamworld is a place where shes allowed to lucid dream. Shes able to do whatever she wants. and she chooses to use this place to allow her creations to come to life. Perhaps she makes a character here who acts as a sidekick character. Lets just say its beatbox puppy lol 3) the people she meets in the dreams, are people who similarly struggle with control in their day to day lives. And as a result, they lucid dream alongside paige. Absolutely not just passing out in the middle of the hallway lol. It happens when they go to bed. Some ideas for the others off the top of my head. -jock guy. he wishes for another creative outlet, but feels he has no choice but to be whatever the people around him tell him fo be. Perhaps he feels he can only be a sports guy. -Someons who was constantly spoken down to about their dreams. Made to feel it was a waste of time. -someone who wants to create, but is afraid to do so. Afraid that they'll never be as good as others. They all come together. A group of unlikely friends. Breakfast club style. And these other friends make their own creations. What comes to mind is chalkzone/fosters home for imaginary friends/ sharkboy and lava girl. 4) the villain as a art thief. i dont believe should be the art teacher. The art teacher if anything would be a mentor imo. Perhaps the art thief is a person who often steals art online for attention. Because they that they deserve that attention. And perhaps they believe that online artists are just given fame with little to no work. Maybe they go around stealing our main characters side kicks and distort them bu drawing all over them. Turning them into monstrous renditions of what the should have been. In a attempt to "claim them" Disheartened at first maybe the main characters realize that even of something is taken, they have the ambition drive and desire that allows them to keep on creating So they make a bunch of creatures or characters that are meant to confront the thief. Those of which tha rhief is unable to counter because they rely soly on stealing and altering things that have already been visualized. They defeat the thief and get their creations back. Maybe they get through to thief that this level of creativity and creation takes time. Effort. Blood. Sweat. And tears. Being an artist is not easy. And popular artist had to slave and work for what they have. It didnt just come to them. And yes. Anyone can be an artist. But you must put in the work. They can all go to the same school. Thats fine. And at the end of the movie, they could either visit paige in the hospital. Or paige is well enough to be able to start going to school again. But regardless, maybe her friends she made in fhe dream world all come together to gift her a sketchbook. And on the front page they all doodled their creations from the dream. Bonus points if fhe villain (now turning a new leaf) doodles in the page too. But instead of it being something that was stolen, its finally an original character. Roll credits with beatbox puppy on rhe movie soundtrack.

Or, if this was meant to be a series, the Art Thief works similar to Hawk Moth from MIRACLIOUS LADYBUG, in that he/she uses other people as their underlings by bringing out their darkest flaws, and the Art Teacher is their first goon that the Main Characters eventually free, and as a repayment of gratitude, he decides to give free Art lessons in the real world, which leads to the Main Characters developing their skills in the DreamWorld

I think my biggest criticisms of the animation is that it really felt like it had no weight to it (especially in the fight scenes) and that the facial animation lacked depth of expression (I'm guessing they did only a few blendshapes for them). The story though, or lack of one, not even a complete rewrite was saving that unless they brought in a new writer completely maybe.

The dude was already infamous in the community for making badly edited clickbait videos (for example, he would make "animation error" videos where it's not even an animation error, it's just like a lighting change in a scene or a smear frame), so it's nice that he has some consistency. I do love the indie animation spotlight, though. It's a great idea, especially with a channel like yours, and there's a lot of great diamonds in the rough out there, so you'll never run out of good suggestions.

There’s a principle that the internet struggles with, which is that just because a lot of time went into something, that doesn’t make it good. And there are people who don’t understand that. I think is why Saber was tip-toeing on eggshells so hard about “I’m doing this review critically and honestly and when you put something out there you have to expect criticism and I know this was a labor of love and etc, etc”. To try and stifle the potential brigade of “How dare you do you know how hard he worked on this?!?” And I am someone who has made a lot of things, and most of them have failed/nobody cared. So I get it

There’s this well-meaning intention within online fandom spaces of, “it was done for free and on someone’s free time, don’t expect a masterpiece and if you don’t like it, just scroll away”. The idea being that you if you want the community of a specific show or movie to thrive, you shouldn’t scare hobbyists away by hating on their work or leaving negative comments on their stuff. And in some ways, I get it. When something’s done out of passion, with no monetary gain in mind, then yeah, the quality’s bound to be all over the place, but the expectation is that people will still enjoy the effort and the love put into it. That being said… It has certainly fostered this unhealthy mindset that ALL criticism is automatically bad criticism in some people’s heads. But if you’re someone that genuinely wants to break into the professional creative space, criticism IS crucial to getting better. You need to know what you’re doing wrong or what isn’t working. If you try to create something in a vacuum, it’s not gonna turn out as great as you want it to.

I appreciate the statement, "Just cause it is long does not mean it is good". This statement applies to multiple aspects of media. I need this statement to be taken to heart not just when the media is bad even when it is good. Someone should not have to wait like 10+ episodes for a show to get good. It should be able to hook a viewer in the first 3. When it come to movies about the first 5-10 minutes.

About the tracing section of the video... I think it's perfectly fine for beginner artists to trace art that is specifically meant to be used for tracing... OR they can use images they found online and trace them, but obviously only keep it to themselves and not show it off and act like it's their original creation. If the sole purpose of someone tracing art is to learn and get better, then so be it. I'm an artist/animator myself, and I started out by heavily referencing other drawings before I started drawing on my own.

Its actually a really common and well respected practice for teaching new students of art and for training the eye to trace and reference (first trace, then learn to draw by sight without tracing, then do by memory) the master works of classical artists like DaVinci and Rodin etc. Going to art galleries in person and drawing from references there, going to public places and sketching what you see from reference, and so on are ALL part of the methods used for training a new artists eye to see and break down the world around them into the base-shapes and colour palettes that make them up. This is key to learning to make the art in the first place. I was tracing (literally direct tracing) my manga and anime art pages from as early as you please - can hold a pencil or crayon and discovered art things? Will trace! I spent YEARS just tracing art until I started to realize I KNEW the shapes and started to try drawing them on my own. By 11/12 years old I was drawing Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon characters from memory and beginning to make my own original art based on the same anime style. THEN we all discovered the How To Draw Manga book series, and my entire family began to collect and gift me with tutorial books that explained the basics that I had learned. Fast forward to 2007 and I've just graduated High School and have gotten in to a pretty good art college in Toronto and THAT was when tracing, referencing and all the rest of those learning blocks came back in as I learned to do the life drawings and gesture drawings that would finally teach me about all kinds of anatomies (anatomy of the body of people and animals, architectural anatomy, the anatomy of fabrics). Tracing can be an EXCELLENT way to learn! It should NOT be villified.... *_unless you try to pass off traced or referenced works as being original artwork without crediting references used and properly stating that the piece was created using tracing and references from x y z artist(s)._* There's be a lot of hate toward people who do ANY tracery or referencing and its been like that for over 2 decades, only now finally am I seeing a culture rising up ACCEPTING that tracing and referencing is a valid way to learn. This mentality around the practice has discouraged so many people from studying art, has made many feel they can never be good, because they struggle with "just do it from your head". Its a technical skill, art making, no matter what kind, and those need to be practiced to be learned. No one just starts out a master! #LetTheNoobsTrace #ListYourReferences #ImTooOldForHashtagsHowDoTheseWork #Potato
