Maybe I am not understanding this correct so correct me if its wrong .. I understand rules should be followed, but my understanding was that the delegate was just finding a simpler solution to the clock malfunctioning. Clock was not registering the 30 second increment after he makes a move (when he is at 1 sec remaining). If the clock was working fine, he was supposed to make his move super quick and get the 30 second increment right away. Since the clock wasnt working, the delegate was just suggesting to give him the 30 second increment anyway for that first move and have it be the opponent's move instead of them fixing / borrowing another clock, him slamming the clock a few times till it worked and then going about it from there. Did not seem too unreasonable a suggestion from practicality point of view even if its not within the rules of course. I feel "disgrace" is a massive stretch.

I couldn't have kept as calm as Guerrero did in this game at his age. Since Ramazan is a kid, I agree that one cannot point all fingers at him but Guerrero is a kid too. You don't see him being fussy. Never once does he lash out against the obvious attempt at stalling and sabotage. Its not always the parenting/coaching...

I dont think they were asking for a "reward of 30 seconds" .. they were suggesting adding the 30 seconds manually (I get it that its not the right way, but practically it is exactly the same) to get the game back on, because the clock was malfunctioning and not adding the 30 second increment he was supposed to get (the move he is slamming the clock for when its 1s left). I feel like people are just jumping on this without understanding what is happening .. dare I say, there might even be prejudice at least for some people based on the kid's name, which if true.. is really sad.

The kid in the cap is bashing the pieces and the clock maniacally. That alone should call for a sanction. There is one occasion where he pressed the clock twice on one move by bashing the piece down and then hitting the clock in some sort of half way manner, and hitting the clock again, as a result of which he got two increments on one move.

Did you all actually look at the video? He didn’t get 30 seconds added. When the arbiter set the clock (around 11:30), she mistakenly put it into time set mode, as evidenced by the flashing zeros. This was unnoticed as they made several attempts to start the game with one second left, but each time the clock wouldn’t start because it was still in time set mode, and strangely, the same happened with the second clock(!) It was finally noticed by the Mexican boy, who correctly set the clock (14:30) and the game finally was successfully restarted WITH BLACK HAVING ONE SECOND TO PLAY. He managed to complete his move and then the 30 seconds was automatically added. Earlier, the Mexican boy was correctly given two extra minutes because his opponent had illegally pressed the clock without moving.

He didn't even get a time penalty for doing something illegal. They gave him all the time he had (1 second) before pressing the clock illegally. That's more than generous. What could he have possibly disagreed with? What more did he want? I don't know what the rule says, but pressing the clock without making a move in order to avoid a time forfeit seems like an attempt to cheat. There should be some consequences, but there were none.

That's very dissapointing to see a boy who is trying to trick with the arbiters at so young age very likely having great understanding of the rules. He could have become a great actor. The most impressive part of their Russian conversation for me is "I had 30 seconds not 1 before I pressed" and his face is so dramatic. Unfortunately his Mexican opponent couldn't understand their dialogue. Suddenly he said "Can I do it by 2 hands at least?!". We he realized that the Russian language doesn't work he switched to Kazakhstanian then to try one more time... No comments.

What do you mean by this? What has Islam to do with cheating? So if a Jewish chess kid illegally stole the board and smashed his opponent's pieces, one would say: Jew! What else can we expect? -- Right?

He's wearing a Kazakh skull cap... What makes you certain that he's Muslim? This is a child about whom you are speaking, and slapping with an inaccurate stereotype. I'm of Mexican descent -- Ramazan's opponent is Mexican... if he were a great Blitz player would you call him speedy Gonzales!?

Lol seems like white player is much more competent with clocks, since only him was able to start them correctly. In terms of clock settings total unprofessionalism, but the whole decision is correct ofc
