I had an amazingly bizarre game as Finland yesterday. I decided to try the fascist path, but I ended up not planning it right and it took me forever to do the path to flip without going into a civil war. I eventually managed, though, but just as I was starting to get everything in place, right after peacefully annexing Estonia, I got a message from Sweden that they were forming the Nordic Defense League. I refused, and began to get ready to have Sweden declare war on me, but then immediately afterwards I got a message from Denmark asking me to join the Nordic faction they were creating. So I accepted that, only to discover that Norway and Sweden both joined as well (plus France, for some reason). Obviously, I couldn't get the Nordic faction achievement since I didn't create the faction, but I already had it from an earlier Monarchist Norway run I did. However, I quickly did the annexation focus that fascist Finland has, and everyone agreed (plus, the UK handed over the Shetland Islands even though I wasn't expecting that). So I managed to form the Nordic Empire without firing a single shot. France then left my faction, which I immediately disbanded, then did the focuses to foment an anti-Russian rebellion in Karelia (the USSR went Monarchist, and were a puppet of Monarchist Japan). As soon as that kicked off, I joined the war, and was immediately invited into the Allies since the UK was already at war with them. Along with the UK, I was also fighting alongside France (who joined the Allies after leaving my faction), the US, the German Republic (Germany went historic, somehow got completely curbstomped by a faction comprised of Czechoslovakia, Romania, and Poland, then continued with the historic focuses it had left, declared war on France and the Benelux, and got beat by the Allies). The UK eventually capitulated Japan while I grounded Russia down and annexed my Karelian puppet so I could form Greater Finland. Then, finally, I helped the Allies capitulate Peru, which was a major country at that point, by building a port on the one tile my allies successfully naval invaded so the army could have enough supplies to take down the death stack sitting on Lima. And throughout all of that, the UK did not kick me from the Allies, because even though I was playing a fascist nation, since I had managed to form my massive superstate completely peacefully I had generated a fairly negligible amount of world tension. It's weirdness like that that makes me honestly prefer playing with Historical turned off.

If you bum rush the right focuses as Finland and cheese the civil war it’s entirely possible to reliably get the Nordic Union as Finland without a single point of world tension within two years. provided the Swedish fuckers don’t leave the faction in two days because they didn’t flip fascist and Germany doesn’t gobble up norden at the last possible moment.

Trotsky just stays long enough to incite a revolution and then travels to the next Country in need of his unique talents. Edit: We demand da Rät

When I did this path, the Soviet civil war faction that wasn't Stalin actually joined me as they were a communist nation without a faction. I wonder if that was patched out.

Not really much of a strategy considering there’s nothing there but raw iron ore. It’s kind of like northern Greenland or several of the islands still in the British empire. Literally nothing there, not a single permanent resident, but god damn it that’s sovereign territory right there.

Nostalgia November needs the return of a legend. Artillery only time again.

I unquestioningly accepted that I was addicted to this game just like you said, and then I remembered that I've never made it more than an hour into a run of this game. Thousands of hours of ISorrow content and I still suck at this game.

What's up isp? I love cursed things in hoi4, and I'm assuming everyone else does too. So what I'm think is you play this cool mod called Godspeed because its pretty much dead unless some big hoi4 channel plays it, and I don't want it to be dead. So, you may ask yourself, what is Godspeed? Well its a 20th century era brawl between the Angevin Empire, and Holy Roman Empire in a post apocalyptic Ice Age? Sounds awesome right? Well I've found out that the devs have stopped updating it, and so I started my journey to make YOU play it. Please play it, I've written like a hundred of these comments.

ISP if you do another paradox campaign, i think you could play a different nation in each game.
