Pearl really hit it out of the park with this one. Easy to carry and play with such a low footprint. And the cost is FAR lower than say a boutique version such as DW’s Low Pro. Thanks for this great demo and review. Your drumming is very deserving of praise.

Hello Chris. I got a Tama Club Jam Mini kit a week ago. I put an Evans EQ3 Haze coated head on the 18x7 kick. The rest is stock heads with an Aquarian studio ring on the 12" snare. It's amazing for the tiny footprint. U might try it. I think this Pearl compact kit is pretty cool for about the same price...I'm gonna get one of these too. Thanks for making the videos!

Great for small stages. I would recommend another snare drum (are at least a snare stand for the 10" snaredrum). Combined with more silent cymbals, this is a nice solution for small gigs and transport issues. It would great if a company built the same kit, but with a 13" snare and a 16" bassdrum.

Hi Chris, I’ve looked at a lot of reviews on this little kit and I have to say that watching you playing it live and in the different situations certainly made me Think twice about this kit. I have been a drum technician for over 30 years and I have built my own little compact vintage professional kit that gives me the best of both worlds with having a small foot print but a professional sound and lower volume where needed. I have looked into purchasing one of these little kits but unfortunately Pearl aren’t bringing them into Australia. Pearl have recently released the additional Tom pack for this kit that has a 10” and a 14” Toms with clamps to mount of your stands, the only thing I’m not a fan of with this kit is the snare size and the snares them self. The traps a400 have a 12” snare that has a bottom head and is more like a piccolo made similar to the snare you have there, thanks for sharing Chris, God bless, Steve from Tasmania.

Here in Brazil it is also very difficult to find this Pearl kit. I think the trend is for several manufacturers to start making similar kits.

I guess so. Not sure. But I dont see why not. You would have to set the bass drum the most steady possible

Seems like it's only a matter of tuning. I haven't changed or muffled anything on the original head. Try to tune it lower.

Are there any specific heads that are recommended for the snare and bass drum? Mine have kinda worn out and i feel like i need to change em

Not really. Maybe the bass drum. But the snare is really loud, even it you put fabric on top of it. You could use it with those mute drumheads.

There's no right answer, really! Just try the ones you normally use and it will be fine

It’s a cool kit, too bad the snare drum doesn’t have on/off throw for the snares wires. It’s a hassle going back and forth from snare to tom mode.
