Im not nice and i always look mad so i dont think many people approach me anymore. Id just walk away or be blunt like i feel uncomfortable lol. I know not everyone can do that cause its scary but that sucks that its a universal experience :( stay safe yall

The three books you pointed out in the manga section are danmei (Chinese novels with male-male romance). Those ones are all by the same author, mxtx, and they're all really great in different ways! Scum Villain's Self Saving System is the author's first novel and I'd say it's the one with the most video game vibe you were talking about. It's a really fun time and the main character is such a lovable idiot

That's so weird that this bookstore has the ACOTAR series in the Teen Fiction section. In the bookstore I usually go to, it's not shelved there but in the Adult Fantasy section. Great series!

I disagree that it’s great

I just started Heaven Official’s Blessing. I’m not super far into yet but enjoying it so far. What’s nice about it is that it has a character guide and glossary in the back for those new to the series (which I am). Also the translator puts in footnotes periodically to explain Chinese idioms and such which is helpful. For manga I would recommend Spy x Family. Picked it up on Katie’s recommendation and read through all the released ones in two days. It’s so cute!

Best book shopping vlog ever! The Kiss Quotient was really good. The next book in that series, The Bride Test, is the only book that has made my cry so far this year. I'm also hoping to try out some Colleen Hoover this year.

Fantastic vlog man ! I too have many encounters with guys at the manga section, some go well, many do not haha. Blue exorcist is quite a fun manga, as is Pandora Hearts (very tim burton Alice in wonderland esque). I’ve actually just picked up one of those Chinese MLM books as I’ve heard good things. I need to get to rainbow grey when I do middle grade may.

I HIGHLY recommend blue period! It’s an art manga that is great for any type of creator. There’s only six out in English print so far, so it’s not too big of a commitment and the end of the six is very satisfying if you did not want to continue.

on the topic of conspiracy theories, there is one that the Titanic didn't actually sink, something about an insurance scam and they swapped names of the ships.

Omg yes! Read all the MXTX books, they're awesome!!! Heaven official's blessing is great but super duper long, GDC is probably the most popular & is a bit creepy but the story construction can be hard to follow (lots of flashbacks and spending big chunks with side characters), scum villain is shortest and probably my fave just cos it's so dumb and goofy, but if you're not used to the type of humour that might be hard to get into. There's loads of other versions of them (tv shows, donghuas, audio dramas etc) so there are lots of options :)

It's about witches and it's super magical and beautifully drawn. Also, I preordered the 2nd Rainbow Grey, but haven't picked it up yet. But soon!

1st to die by James Patterson - so good! I need to finish the series. I'd also recommend Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli and Isles series. It starts with The Surgeon

I've read the majority of Ruth Ware's stuff and my favorite so far is Turn of the Key. It's a Turn of the Screw retelling and I love that shit. I've heard great things about The Cabin at the End of the World. Would love to see you read that during your "vacation" lol

I feel like November 9 is underrated. It does have some questionable parts, but no more than I've seen of her works personally

I’m so sorry about the manga guy 😂there are some strange manga fans that are really pretentious about manga but honestly just read whatever most interests you! I’d say give heavens official blessing a go, it’s really popular currently but I haven’t read it yet myself. My favourite manga is probably ‘Inuyasha’, it’s a bit of everything it has romance, adventure, action, comedy, demons but it’s a long series. Oooh or since you’re recently getting into crime fiction maybe ‘death note’ is worth a shot.

The land of stories are very good. I read almost all them except the last one. I have it but couldn't start it. I can't remember why, but something happen at my work and i got mad and couldn't start it.

Me just casually watching this and then sees the Grand Arcade logo...YOU WERE IN MY HOMETOWN IM SORRY WHAT?!?!?

I just brought Greenwich Park and a number of others. The Hunting Party is absolutely awful. Lisa Jewell is good for thrillers. Clare Mackintosh is also really good

For manga, I love One Punch Man! Its really fun and I think pretty chill/ not too serious like AOT (no shade at all, i heard AOT is amazing! But def on the heavier side)
