The most BRUTAL way to get scored on
Спорт
We all know hockey players are the toughest athletes in the world, especially come play off time. These guys guys go to war. Well, in tonights New York Islanders vs the Carolina Hurricanes game, we got another example of exactly that. After Engvall puts one on net, it hits Aho and suddenly it’s in the back of the net and Aho is leaking. He went straight to the dressing room as the puck hit Aho in the face and before the puck hit the ice, Brock Nelson batted it out of the air and scored. A wild goal I dont know I have ever seen before but not only did it hit Aho right in the teeth, he wasn't wearing a mouth guard so you'd imagine it will have taken some chiclets. With that said, just 10 minutes of clock time later and who was right back on the bench? Sebastian Aho with 5 stitches and ready to play. Not only did he come back, but he also scored a goal in a fight to take the series. I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

I have an incredible respect for Sebastian Aho for coming back out after that injury

I know i'm late, but Aho is about 95% of our offensive power, and hes an insane defender. In terms of value to team, hes probably top three in the league
That goal is the personification of playoff hockey. Hate to see Aho get smashed in the mouth with a puck, but that goal though!

His hand eye coordination is nothing short of spectacular. Even though it’s a scary incident, that goal is insane.

I’ve always loved Nelson but this year I think he has become my favorite player! Dude never misses a game and besides Ilya, is the most consistent player on the team. That face shot sucked for Aho but that baseball bat goal was awesome!

That's some high level coordination
Aho wears a mouth guard now 😂
That was literally an "insult to injury" moment for Aho thank primus he came back in other words that's the nature of the NHL playoffs

I came here to say this. The epitome of "insult to injury."
This weirdly reminds me of the most painful goal scored by Kris Draper in the playoffs where a puck hit him in the teeth, went in, then got cross checked.
As an RN in the OR, I can see the Dermabond on that lip. The team MD likely did some Monocryl or Chromic Gut suture to get a function seal on the lip corner and coated it with Dermabond, it dries in like 2 min. Some Lidocaine with epinephrine to help control bleeding and he’s back on the ice.
I'm a big NHL fan and a big NBA fan. It makes me really happy seeing how tough hockey players are. NBA players are literally some of the biggest men on the planet but also some of the softest men on the planet

That's because NBA is not a contact sport.
Actually he apparently didn’t end up losing teeth. Pretty sure some reporter and the team twt acc said so. Either way wouldn’t expect anything less from Fishy. Carrying the team yet again
I'm really not surprised, a little over a decade ago either Ryan Mcdonagh or Staal played though the playoffs with the Rangers with stress fractures in their legs. Nothing short of near death will keep a hockey player from the ice during the playoffs.

I remember reading about Bergeron playing with a punctured lung, broken ribs and a separated shoulder. Not sure what year it was though.
well, now both aho's have inadvertently scored on themselves in the same series

Technically, he didn't score on himself this time. That takes alot away from the hand eye coordination necessary to bat the puck in after smashing Aho in the gob.
The irony for the guy with the fishbowl (Nelson) to not get hit in the face, then score. That’s just pure bad luck for Aho
As a fin it hurts to me too to see aho bleed
The focus of Nelson to see that puck hit him in the face, and then bat it out of the air into the goal ....
Aho says nobody makes me bleed my own blood!
Thank you for making this type of content, i ususally dont get to see these as the european timezone doesnt allowe me to watch the games (only highlights the day after). And those highlights never include the scrums and important things that will give the context to the match.

@@nextmanupNMU It's nice seeing people talk about the Canes and not like they're some nobody team. All the coverage I've seen them get lately is like they don't deserve to be a high ranked team, which doesn't make sense to me

@@DustinGoatPoirier I disagree, I think their style gives them a favorable edge over offense heavy teams like the Devils and Rangers. The Islanders are a more defense heavy team and they've depended on playing dirty to beat the Canes because both play the same style of game, except the Hurricanes have more success at it.
@DustinGoatPoirier

@@FalloutUrMum the islanders aren’t the only ones who are doing stuff dirty. Carolina had their fair share of uncalled dirty plays
the winnipegs guy whole face almost came off and he kept playing the next period, man i love hockey
Zach Hyman pretty much had the exact same thing yesterday except his own player fired off of his face
@SpicyPotatoe

If Bouch had greased it as hard as he can, Hyman probably would have been looking much the same as Aho. Brutal shot but amazing goal. Wild that there were two face-shots in one night that went into the net before touching the ice again.
Brock Nelson deserves more credit for where this Islanders team is
Nice recap! Always had a soft spot for the Islanders! Would be nice to see them pull a rabbit out of the hat and take the series! But I’m not betting on this.

In my best Nathan Explosion impression, "Brutal."
Very good piece, well stated and great way to show EXACTLY HOW TOUGH NHL players TRULY ARE! Only one small correction, Nelson is wearing a visor, not a cage, but nonetheless nonetheless, great report and "All About Aho" which you did! Keep up the great work!
That's a double dang it on that one
I had to get stitched up on the corner of my mouth after getting fish hooked by someone's stick. That ranks pretty high on my "uncomfortable" injury list.
Lmao can u imagine this in any other sport? They'd be out for a month ATLEAST
Crazy he didn’t even wear a cage imagine if he had gotten hit in the face again, even if just with a glove. Oof.
hopefully we have guys left going into the next series
both aho’s helped the other team score
Pavelski had one bounce off his mouth into the net for a goal in San Jose courtesy of Brent burns slap shot
is the score a high stick since he hit it from above the shoulders? kinda confusing as a new hockey fan what is and isn't.

Pretty wild contrast to the NBA playoffs. They'll sit out out games for allergies. 10 ply league.
Did anyone else find it weird that the same exact thing in the same exact spot happened in the oilers game too? What are the odds
@BurtTurbo
Жыл бұрын
Not the "same exact" thing at all. Puck hitting a player in the face, sure. It happens once in a while.
There is more blood in the 1 round than in regular session this year, hokey players are iron-men 😮
A mouthguard wouldnt save ur teeth in that situation. They are for concussions not saving ur teeth
I've always wondered what percentage of active NHL players are missing teeth? I imagine it's a much lower percentage today than 20 years ago.
Well that sucks. Lose a goal and a couple teeth.
Would have been just a bit more brutal had the puck deflected in straight off his gob (smackers, tasty candy). I always find it a bit humorous when score in the game ends by the 'score' in the series (3-2 Islanders, series is 3-2 Carolina). Nothing against NY, I don't see them completing the comeback though. It happens, as a Wild fan I know it happens. But I don't see it happening here.

If the Isles didn’t score first period I was gonna give up. But they pull me right back in 🥲 and hockey players are just built different.
Not wearing a mouth guard...what an あほう. But jokes aside. I'm glad he was able to come back quickly and even score. Hockey players are tough.

Mouthguard really does not protect against impacts on your teeth. They are more shock absorbers between your jaw and skull. Any impact to your jaw is softened by mouthguard.
On behalf of all islanders fans Lol
Yeah that sucked hard
We shouldn’t be talking about any kind of “luck” here, that’s actually just a super nice goal.
Aweeeeee…..🫣
😢😢
try racing motocross its nothing short of WAR 35 MINUTES STRAIGHT
Hahaha this is nothing
Just stupid to not wear a visor. Overall, I think it's just plain stupid that NHL players don't wear cages. This is not an uncommon thing in the NHL. Players so often deflect pucks to their own face....esp as defensemen. This stuff is a product of television...and people wanting to see the faces of players. Not even an issue in junior hockey.
Cuts make them tough? Come on man it's a cut and they get millions to play with a cut. Boo woo I'm bleeding.

I would have thought tanking for a decade and picking up nearly half a dozen first overall picks would have helped ease the sting. Guess not.
NBA players would probably cry and go home.
