Don't play x-bow in midladder even if you're good at it. Just slows down the process, all the games take at least 4-5 mins even if you win all. Just play a combination of midladder and meta till you escape.

Yes, champions are unique. you can Only have one champion on the field creating a “three card cycle”. Which mean it takes one less card to cycle back to a desired card. Only if a champion is on the map that is.
