That cab/ taxi with "NO DURIAN" sign - a COMMON thing in Singapore. You will see it on public buses, MRT stations ("underground" aka "metro" aka "subway"), at the entrances of many public buildings (banks, offices, etc.) - and such. While some find the smell of durian "strong and peculiar, but strangely enticing" others find it unpleasant and revolting. Therefore to avoid any "issues" the prohibition is in place. But if you carry the durian fruit (or its edible pulp) in an airtight container that shouldn't be any issue, methinks.

I came for the funny. Got a lot of wholesome and wonderful. Keep up the good work sharing these ‘signs’ that the world isn’t always as bleak and scary as some people want everyone to believe it is.

I've often wondered why that at a drive-up ATM's, they have braille on the keypad.

Because ATMs are made in "one kind fits all" fashion - the manufacturer doesn't produce "different type for each different location". Drive-up, shopping mall, bank, what not - all the same. But apparently in California they have a separate queues/ office "stands" for blind and visually impaired people in the Department of Motor Vehicles which issues driving licenses... Can't vouch for it though, never been there.

Kinda useful to a blind person who's been driven there by a friend or taxi driver, who can simply pull up a couple of feet further so the rear driver side passenger window is by the ATM... 💡👍

I've used that station many times (I used to have a relative living near there) and I _think_ the main reason they made the sign that long was to justify maintaining a platform long enough to accommodate a two-car train. 😋 I've lost track of the number of times I've gone there and though there have been a lot of people _taking photos_ of the station, I seem to be the only person who's ever used it to _catch a train!_ 🤣

As someone who can both read and spell, I've never understood the logic behind phonics. They brought it into my school in 3rd-4th grades and I tried very hard to learn to spell things incorrectly, ie phonetically,but just couldn't manage.

If I ever need to go to the Alan Turing Inst., I'll have to remember to use the bathroom BEFORE I go!

That reminds me of some vet clinic in my town, where my wife and I came one evening for an APPOINTMENT to put our cat to death, as he was in the very terminal stage of spine cancer. The earlier treatment (obviously unsuccessful) was done at this very vet clinic, so you'd thought "everybody knew". (And anyway, the appointment title specifically said what kind of "assistance" is going to be provided.) It was scheduled as the last appointment for the day, and we entered it with "rather sombre faces" to put it mildly (in fact my wife was barely holding her tears back), with the cat in her arms (he was so weak there was no need for any carrier) and the young assistant there, upon seeing us, greeted us in the most bubbly voice imaginable "GOOD EVENING! How can I help you?!" - and with a smile on her face so wide that if not for her ears it would go probably all around her head. But then for her a 1000 Watt flashing light, shining straight into her eyes wouldn't be enough to, erm, "enlighten" her, methinks... But I digress here, and yes, this sign is a VERY good idea indeed.

@ 12:22, I have the same sign. They were made in 1948-just after the war when the country was going back to a sort of hillbilly root. We’ve had ours since then!

A little fast pace and I read fast. Other than that, was fun!

15 7/8 mph are about 25 km/h. That sign definitly is from someone prefering metric measurement and translated it to imperial. A very nice irony, as many rules and their internal calculations are made by using the metric system, but the results are converted in imperial system. This sign points out the nonsense of still using imperial in the US (a quite silly as US celebrate indepandance day but still uses old imperial units...)

It's one of those obscure laws that are on the books but never or rarely enforced. There's also a law that is says illegal to operate a horseless carriage (read car) within the city limits of Minneapolis.

Qigong is an asian technique of healing without touching. I don't know what it's worth though. And some believe you can send someone flying to the ground with it too, but I believe that's pure rubbish and abuse of what it really is. You can probably find hilarious videos about that on youtube I never did research about it though. But somehow I know this little bit about it

There's this big bar... no, right here, at yer keyboard - a space bar. Works as "Pause" while watching YT videos. Sometimes may need pausing the video with a mouse at first, in order to "switch focus". And yes, I know (and hate it too), that "changing of keyboard shortcuts results" depending on your earlier actions - "up" and "down", for "volume up/ down" by default, can change to "skip forward/ back" if you just moved the cursor "by hand" - and left and right arrows, "skip forward/ back" by default will become "volume up/ down" if you happened to adjust the volume by hand before. To make it worse, all those shortcuts affecting those settings you set "once for ever" (CC font, colour, size, etc., display modes and such, are ALWAYS there (and never change) - so you may accidentally screw them up any time you touch your keyboard while watching. But I digress here; space bar for pause, "M" for "mute". Cheers.

I still do not understand why a shithouse / toilet / lavatory / WC / etc is called a BATHroom or a RESTroom!!! There are PLENTY of names conform the use of the utility!!!

RESTroom came from when the rooms were also places where women went to rest during balls etc. in addition to their toileting needs. Some upscale public restrooms have lounges today even. BATHroom seems obvious as the bath, shower, sink, toilet are all in the same room. Hope that helps.

WC? dʌbljuːˈsiː ? Si, si, Signore, da blu! Da blue porta... Doore azzuro, capici? A "toilet"? Yeah, but then it is also an euphemism, since it comes from mid XVI century French: _ORIGIN mid 16th cent.: from French toilette ‘cloth, wrapper,’ diminutive of toile (...). The word originally denoted a cloth used as a wrapper for clothes; then (in the 17th cent.) a cloth cover for a dressing table, the articles used in dressing, and the process of dressing, later also of washing oneself ( sense 2 of the noun). _*_In the 19th cent. the word came to denote a dressing room, and, in the US, one with washing facilities_*_ ; hence, a lavatory (early 20th cent)._ Hope it helps... ;-)

Collective noun, they call it. Some collective nouns are treated like plurals (like "people" - "people are strange") while others (most, probably) are treated (and quite rightly so), like "staff" or "crew" as singular (at least most of the time), as they refer to A GROUP as a whole. staff 1 |stæf| noun 1 [ treated as sing. or pl. ] all the people employed by a particular organization: _a staff of 600 | hospital staff were not to blame._ In the first case the emphasis is on the group (ONE group) "as it is", thus singular. In the second case the emphasis is on ACTIONS of *numerous* individuals, acting within a particular group (in their individual capacities/ responsibilities, as appointed members of the group), thus "pluralisation". "My staff" is a general reference to A GROUP, so singular. But you can disagree with me if you wish so.

Once upon the time, in a far, far away galaxy, there was a big - really big! - Space Bar. Yeah, the one where Yoda, Han Solo, Chewbacca and all others enjoyed a glass or two of a Moonshine (the best in the entire Galaxy!) But today I'm not gonna talk about that one far far away, but about the one much, much closer. Yes, the one on yer keyboard. Which works as "Pause" button (sometimes you'd need to stop the video manually first to "switch the focus", and yes, I agree - changing keyboard shortcuts depending on "one's recent actions" as YT does it sucks big time). In fact I watched almost ALL of the video in "stop" mode, just using "skip forward/ back" keys ("" keys). Also, in case you're watching it on a phone just tap "pause", it should work too ;-) Hey, no need to thank me! ;-b

PS: Also, they say, "beauty is in the ear of beholder", or something like that - and frankly, there are so many videos out there with a REALLY unbearable thumpy-thump thumping noise (which often completely drowns out a narrative, which is not present here), that I find this comment of yours rather hilarious (and warranting my response). It might be not yer cuppa, or genre, this "club music", and I'm fine with that - but still, don't make a mountain out of a molehill... Cheers! : )
