What is HDR?:
If you watch this video on an HDR compatible device like an Oled TV, or a mobile phone like the Samsung S8 S9 and iPhone X, you will be able to see a High Dynamic Range version of the video. HDR basically means better contrast, greater brightness levels and a wider color palette. The idea is that your eyes can perceive brighter whites and darker blacks - greater dynamism - than traditional TVs have been able to display.

@Dan Sinagra Thats still a great TV, and yeah I’m loving it. Super bright and good local dimming for a dark room experience that is nearly OLED-like. Worth the few extra hundred, but edge-lit TV’s have come along way and the Q60 has great native contrast and good black levels so that should be good for dark room viewing as well

Thank you!, unfortunately a lot of channels are taking SDR stock footage and reexport it as fake HDR to youtube. If you search for 4K HDR or 8K HDR on youtube, most of the result is fake. If you want to see more real HDR check Jacob + Katie Schwarz, and Eugene Belsky.

Hi!, yes I added a custom LUT before uploading, because without the LUT the youtube conversion to SDR looks a little bit washed out.

Does the first bird, the Toucan, have an orange shimmer on his yellow feathers? I just got a new monitor and with HDR on, there is an orange shimmer, with HDR off, it's just yellow. I would love to know if it's correct what I am seeing with HDR, or if some setting is wrong. Thanks in advance! Edit: Most birds shimmer in a "weird" way, I think the settings are wrong 😅

@@jamesc9990 yup 4k TV via hdmi to the pc which is in 4k, but KZread only allows 1080p, but if I turn pc off and use the built in KZread app in the TV I get 4k. Looks like 4k playback is becoming a premium feature on KZread. Also not all accounts will get upgrades/downgrades at the same time whenever they change something (like in November the buttons got rounded corners) it's rolled out so many accounts at a time, TV got the gui changes 2 weeks before I got them on the pc, despite both devices being logged in on my account. I just uploaded some 4k drone footage from a flight this afternoon, my own footage etc, 1080p on KZread in chrome but 4k on my TV.
