When I dj for big crowds I always transition my songs by playing a KZread™ commercial between each song.

Hahah I love it. I see this in so many Restaurant they just play KZread music not even Spotify with commercials. Really sad.

Great beginners' video Jon! This will surely help a lot of people! I Really like that you're putting the mixing techniques in context with crowd & listener reactions from the very beginning. I'm convinced there aren't many other videomakers online talking about "actions and reactions" in DJ'ing, and yet - it's just as important as everything else in DJ'ing! Keep up the good work as always! :D
Never really touched a console before but I mix on some apps... These videos really help me and some time soon I'll use all these tips when I'm a dj. ❤️
I agree that the DJ tips are very helpful.
Like your advices ! Thank you for this
Great video gotta master these

Great tips. Recently landed a residency at this clam bar on a wednesday . After happy hour ran into a few know it alls and they purposely spilled onion dip on the gear so called it a night. Thought of quitting but not doing it.

cool jon i subcibed your channel love your videos i started this week after long time away its always nice to see people sharing their skills to others i have more experience in djing but you never know that i can learn a thing of 2 to take it with me in the next mixing session you are right to much effects in the beginning ruine the mix or the song i like to put a effect in the songs where the beat stops and build it up more and more that its almost on his top and than take the effect of just as the new beats start its all about timing a bit but its nice to do and gives a spice to your song but like you said dont over use the effect from the beginning nice and value tip you shared
Thanks
Watched it before my first time being a DJ on stage, that's very helpful!
Nice :)
I've seen that chair on Amazon and looks great, could you tell me how's working long hours with it?
Thanks for the tips! Hopefully il get my money at the first of january and finally can buy the denon mcx8000 and start to learn djing.

You should make dj tutorial for transition drops :)
Hi Jon, I just got into DJing a few days ago and your channel is pure inspiration! Btw. I am from Duesseldorf, too! Do you have any techno songs to recommend to start practicing transitions? I pick random ones and often they don't have a good intro/outro for beginner transitions. Cheers!
Just love how hes is using Denon DJ.. 😊😊

Pioneer doesn't need extra lights and pads to compete. They provide plenty of options and reliability. Tried Denon display before I got my CDJ NXS2 Setup, however, Pioneer felt more natural and believable. Not like a toy.
@echno4727
4 жыл бұрын
@@andreryan3065 I agree, Pioneer have the best gear money can buy, Denon has waaaayyy to many glitches and their jogwheels suck. Also for people saying Pioneer is overpriced I recently picked up a DDJ1000 and for the price its amazing value, ties in niceli with my two Technic 1210s:)
excellent video. but why don't you uses the crossfade dial ? you can customise the curve through the software settings.
do you have tips for us new dubstep djs?
Hey jon I need some work flow advice or like more of a discipline advice I'm on a vacation now so I am spending whole day on producing.. But I can't be protective like before when I used to sit 3-4 hours everyday in the evening I'm easily get distracted or bored easily especially it happens when I'm trying to mix or master I can't make a final decision on it
hi jon, thanks for this video.. I wanna get into djing and would like some recommendation for vinyl players to get below 1k€, since the technics 1200 are quite expensive. I want to connect one vinyl player to a denon prime 4.
I swear you sound like Sacha baren cohen's Bruno haha. Great tutorial though :)
Can you do a turioal on pop music every does it with electronic.
Which video is the video about phrase mixing? I tried to find it but wasn´t succesfull
I normally do transitions on the buildups, but I don’t put the bass in on the other track. I slowly fade it in while I fade the current track out.
Wish i could see that with HIP HOP...!with Techno i dont have Problems with the Transitions
Dubstep chops.
6:06 there is some pre drop content right here
Hey bro! Love your videos! I couldn't find the follow up to this video. Is there one online? If not it would be great if you could put one together. thanks

What is the name of the song that you are playing first? And what i like to do sometimes is i cut the bass on the song that im transitioning into, then i slowly bring the volume up, then when i hear the bass from the second song, i cut the bass off the first while bringing the bass up from the second song. And i do that to kinda make it sound like the beats are fighting with each other for dominance. Sounds crazy but the crowd love it
make the camera focus closer please (",) thanks for sharing tho

yes there is actually a noob to eq the fx but still the reverb is of course not as nice as the ones you use in your daw. I wish they would let you tweak the reverb settings way more :)

I‘m a beginner and and I’m wondering if there’s a difference in cueing the next song in via the cue button and then switch to play/pause or starting the next song via a hot cue. Could anyone explain?
@totalpartykill999
5 жыл бұрын
the cue button only plays the song if you hold it. hot cues are set up beforehand, and play the track from a certain spot. i think.
1st
Its better that DJs experiment with effects by themselves. Because every transition sounds generic. Most people won’t notice but someone who has listened to many DJs will know basic effect transitions. Just using good EQing should be the first skill to master.
Why you press so many times the cue button in one row?

What do you think about pre recorded mixes ?
@rizla4606
5 жыл бұрын
I dont mean on live partys and pretend that im djing thats sad just for in your car or home use you can create real advanced and perfect transitions And what is real djing these days digital sync or oldschool vinyl you decide
@totalpartykill999
5 жыл бұрын
that really depends on how 'live' or performance oriented you are. although you still could get away with sound manipulation with a pre-rec mix and pass it off as performance, but its more entertaining to live mix and improv.
i'm looking for small talk ideas for my collaborators, maybe entertaining tips you can't just announce tracknames like a robot, you have to be kind and human. it's maybe harder than djing, cause listener can be in any country at any time. i don't want use small talk for advertise of social network promotion.
You have a lot of good info that you teach and... I'm disappointed by the negative and judgmental tone that is in your videos toward others and even yourself. We are all learning here... let's keep it... positive vibrations!
OH... AND NEVER MIX OVER TWO VOCALS! lol unless you know how to cut them in and out.
you used sync🤣🤣🙏🏻
