The Most Banned Dog Breeds In The World

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Dogs are a man’s best friend, but they weren’t always like this. Some descendants of wolves never really got domesticated as well as others. That’s why we ended up with breeds as sweet as the golden retrievers and ones as deadly as the Bully Kutta. Many species are, in fact, banned in countries because of how aggressive they can get. However, these animals are highly moldable, and much of their aggression depends on how they’re trained and cared for. Perhaps one day, we can befriend most canine breeds! Some of these breeds have only been bred for illegal reasons, such as the Tosa Inu, which is why they’re banned. In contrast, others are just a crazy mix of genetics, making them incredibly unpredictable, such as the Wolfdog

My neighbour's Cane Corso was barking non-stop for couple of months because he was negligent of him and kept him locked up all the time. One day, he let him out for couple of minutes and Cane Corso killed 3 of his dogs. He didn't put it to sleep and he has 4 more dogs, 3 of them puppies in this yard. Some people shouldn't be allowed to own dogs.

@@messywebdev He is neighbor near our vacation house. Unfortunately, there is nothing like animal control/care center there and some people have called the police but they are far away and can't be bothered with "animal stuff". It's really sad seeing these animals suffer. I got puppy 2 months ago and I can't imagine leaving him without proper care for a day, let alone couple of months. I know it's harsh but he should just put Cane Corso to sleep. It's obvious that he is in a lot of pain and mentally unstable and he is far beyond training.

We had a Boerboel, Jessie, she saved my daughter from being attacked by an Egyptian Cobra. She jumped between the snake and my daughter, as the snake was ready to strike. The snake’s fangs went right through the soft flesh of her cheek. That saved Jessie’s life because all the venom was sprayed in the open air without entering her body. It angered Jessie even more and she threw the snake high up in the air, ending up killing it, and saving my daughter’s life. Sadly she passed away a few years later from cancer. What a legend.

I lost my dogo argentino the last week of October 2022. Abby was without question, the most emotionally developed and loving, intelligent dog. A couple weeks before she passed, a man was having a mental breakdown and came on our property and despite her showing aggression he ran up to her seeking protection and i was able to keep her from protecting us and physically attacking him by simple command of "stand down". Despite the event being so stressful and seemingly a justifiable moment that called for a protective attack - she understood and followed direction perfectly. The BEST dog I have ever known or kept. Agree that you must be a qualified owner that understands this breed. (*The thumbnail of dog holding a pine cone as if its thw dogs teeth = 🤣😂)

I got a Rhodesian Ridgeback 6 years ago as a 2 year old and she has been wonderful. I found her at the dog pound where her previous owner had relinquished her. She was a wild one when I first adopted her, and I began strict training on day 2. Now she lives calmly with my 4 cats and goes with me everywhere. While she is great with most people, she has shown a protective aggressiveness towards men that she deems to be a threat. She also doesn't tolerate very many other dogs when we are out in public. I have to be firm with her at all times since she will still test me from time to time. Overall, she is a great dog but would be difficult for an inexperienced owner to handle.

Moral of the story, a dog is as dangerous as their owner's negligence. I appreciate the emphasis he put in training and socialization. Many people will address these dog as "dangerous breeds you should never own". Any of these breeds can be perfectly safe yet unfortunatley you should always be wary when you encounter one. You never know if the owner raised them properly.

When I was a boy my mom bred and raised Pekingese for years, and she had only one male who was aggressive, and only when his food was being messed with. The females especially were sweet and did just fine with small children and other dogs. The males were always a bit standoffish, but never aggressive toward kids or dogs. I'm surprised to see it here, but then breeders have been screwing up dogs, inbreeding to gain certain "award" characteristics and sometimes totally screwing up their personalities, so Pekes might be a whole different critter since the 1960s.

We got an Amstaff and he is the most loyal, affectionate, patient, and loving to us, to our relatives, and friends. If we meet strangers outside he observes our behavior first if he sense that we are ok and the stranger is nice to us he is friendly. If he knows we don’t feel comfortable with the stranger he keenly kept watch; his eyes are the only ones that moves while he stay still. He saves my dad from 2 heart attacks. We noticed that he senses someone is sick one week before the person show symptoms. He is a life saver. We always kiss him and we say “ I love you “ all the time. He was a rescue dog from a shelter. It is NOT the breed that gives a dog a bad reputation it is how the dog get trained. It was mentioned many times from this video that the dogs were “ trained to be a watch dog “ or “ for dog fighting “.

This video is very informative. A very key point is that a lot of these dogs are a certain way with regards to their owner and their owner's 'property', including children. A lot of people don't understand dogs and this video highlighted that each dog has particular training, exercise and social needs that many owners don't have the first clue about, they just wanted 'the fluffy blonde one'. Then trouble starts when their sweet dog does something unexpected.

Had very little trouble from my chows & very little from my dobies. Doberman is my favorite breed. Super smart & mostly easy to train. They can be comical around family. Alert & athletic with a graceful & regal look. Lol. Yes indeed my favorite. I've heard them described as "Velcro" dogs due to them wanting to be as near to their owner as possible. They do need exercise & things to do. They kind of consider it their job to make their person as happy as they can all day.

Thank you Carla for explaining that. I was around my nephew's pitty during the first few months and now she's ruined! All I ever knew how to do was love and spoil her. Now she's bigger she won't listen to me at all! Never did! Never needed to. I mistakenly thought of her as my baby.( never had one ORA dog) !! She's always so happy to see me and me too but she scares me . She bites me for fun I think and Drags me about. She has either pushed or knocked me down so many times that I've had 2 ER visits with broken bones!! Both hands! Now my nephew is really harsh on her trying to Unstupid her.

I have an American Staffordshire Terrier rescue and she is the most gentle girl. The rescue said she was aggressive with other dogs and small children, but she fits in well with our two American bulldogs. She hasn’t shown one bit of aggression with small kids either. I believe it’s how you train them and introduce them to a new environment. A five pound Pekinese can be deemed an aggressive breed. I have zero regrets adopting my Staffie… she is the biggest cuddle bug and the daily dog piles with her brothers are the best

This list really surprised me. There are many other breeds that are truly banned in most countries for various reasons. As others have said, if you are going to have ANY animal, YOU are responsible for training and ensuring the safety of your animal and those around you. I did large dog senior rescue for 20 years.... the most problematic were not because of ther breed, but due to abuse, neglect and being trained to be vicious. From your video I have had the following: Chow Chow - definitely sketchy even when trained, would not have again Pekingeses = sweetest little furbabies every, but very headstrong and require training Cane Corso - lap puppy and could detect seizures, adopted at 7, he became quite unpredictable around 9 (old age senility we think) Shar-Peis & Shar-Pei/Bloodhound - have had several, definitely require training and supervision, but can be love bunnies with adults, don't like being "poked" so playing with kids was not a thing we did Akitas - biggest love muffins, but trained from puppies, great with kids, other dogs...while being fiercely protective - must have an Alpha owner The BEST FAMILY BIG dog ever has to be the Newfoundlands (Newfi), we loved ours We had a Maremmano d'Abruzzese,Cane da pastore Maremmano d'Abruzzese (125lbs at 10 months) for a 600 acre woodland farm...had to move to 3 acres, way too small,l got bored...rehomed to 1200 acre ranch.... BOTTOM LINE: YOU must be responsible, do your research and train any animal you bring home. Volunteer to foster some dogs for a while, so you can judge temperment. We did and we decided, Dobermans and Chows were not for us. You could NEVER turn your back on the Doberman. Our English Bulldogs were adorable, but multiply by 20 what you think you'll spend a year on them (vet, special food, chew toys, orthopedic beds... .the list goes on ) - plus as cute as they are they often pee in their sleep, snore like a freight train and they really don't like backing up...they would rather go through whatever is in front of them.

you are right, dog owners need to learn how to be Alpha or else the dog wont listen. i am a Chow-Chow owner. i had 16 and they were all disciplined and very very loyal to me but not to strangers. when im angry (to people or to other dogs) they will be angry too and will be ready to attack. no wonder they were the only dog in the world that are written in history, being companions of soldiers in China when they battle their enemies. they could be very sweet and calm, but only if they see you as their Alpha.

Don't you notice a pattern here with your dog experiences. I'm a very experienced dog owner myself. I was raised with aggressive dogs. Where I LEARNED as a CHILD.... Why is it you are attracted to dogs that are more aggressive than other breeds? I find this trait a highly moronic view for the public to have. Why are we breeding dogs that we bread for centuries to become killers in a world that no longer requires aggressive dogs. I get it. I really do, but let us not be stupid. From this point on! All humans, from every country. Should and Need to, breed the dogs that are compatible with our evolution/generation. Go ahead, talk shit. I know someone whose son was ripped apart by 2 dogs. (He was 6 & killed) You think it's all okay until it happens to you. So clear your mind, do not be stupid. Stop breeding aggressive human companions. Stop BUYING THEM! If they can't be adopted, there is a reason for this. Besides this point that infuriates me, you make great points about responsible ownership. I agree it is unequivocally the leading cause of dog attacks.

She was very traumatized and had to have therapy, emotional as well as physical. She wore nothing but pants from then on because of the scar. Cane Corso is the most memorable breed ive ever had in my family, such a sweet big breed, not violent at all. They are very good with children and very family protective, saved us from burglars twice! Thats not all but Cane's have an amazing memory, one of our cane's was mistreated by a man and when he was full grown he still remembered that guy after not seeing him for years. So honestly to me cane's are wrong to be on the first place here, in fact they are very reliable, predictable (if you understand them) trusty companions. There are a lot more breeds that require more attention to domesticate the right way. I still have the Urns of my Cane's, very highly intelligent powerfull breed, great family dog that can also be kept as a guard dog. I trusted mine with my life, they were trained but its def not the most difficult breed ive worked with, on the contrary. if treated right they're just big sweet cuddlebears. Now we have a pomeranian and staffy in our family, the staffy is a sweetie sometimes stubborn but theres not a single bit of violence in her (unless if its to protect the family), we have a 2 year old son and both are doing amazing with him. The staffy really really likes the cuddle-attention My father in law had a big fear of staffies, ours changed his mind, he passed away but our staffy became his best friend. That often happens here, once people meet our dogs they often get a diff opinion about them. Its all about how you treat/train them, id say 99% of the dog accidents the dog isnt at fault. Breeds shouldnt be banned, some people should be banned to have them. And well some breeds just arent for you..., like i wouldnt want a border collie in my family just because i dont have the space that breed requires. Same with huskies, i love them but i wouldnt want one where i live now (space + climate). ive had and trained dogs my entire life

I think most dogs, especially these high energy & territorial dogs that are more prone to be potentially aggressive will tend to do best when they have actual territory to protect & lots of space to exert their energy 😊 I would honestly not keep most dogs living in an apartment or a home without significant space unless the breed did well with that sort of space & I had the time to walk them regularly & socialize them. I believe dogs deserve lots of land to run around & protect, that’s their nature. Especially these poor breeds that tend to get bad reputations, it’s not fair to them.

@@Phat_Tokes Well that's exactly what the video is about : not every dog can be a pet... some dogs are meant to live outdoors with a job to do and those are not meant to be comfy and cuddly couch potatoes... Therefore, no, I think that not all dogs can be pets. Some are closer to wild animals than to pets. And those need to be respected as almost wild animals.

In rescue I’ve seen a few ridgebacks, people get rid of them due to their high energy. People can’t handle them. However, the ones I’ve come across were very sweet. Dobermans are some of the sweetest dogs, I adore them. It’s really how you raise them. Same with rotties, our rot was the sweetest dog I’ve ever had. She was even badly bit on her tongue at the vet by a chihuahua who drew blood. She just looked at it, like why don’t you like me. She only disliked two people out of the many friends I had. But she wasn’t aggressive towards them. She would just sit in front of me, but showed no aggression. My parents used to show malamutes, and they too were absolute dolls. They would pull my parents on a sled in the winter. Again, it’s all how you raised them. My parents always wanted to keep their dogs inside. However, they refused to stay inside, especially in the winter. They loved staying out side, and would bury themselves in the snow. My parents hated keeping them outside. But the dogs refused to come indoors. Friends of ours have a wolf hybrid. It’s a very sweet dog, however, I personally do not think they should be allowed to own. They’re too unpredictable. I love them, but I worry about them. I never want to hear about any pit, in rescue. I had seen at least 1,000 pits. We had one that was dangerous. However, I have a pit myself whose a doll. I’ve also fostered pits and I adore them. I’ve also never seen problems with any cane corso. While I’ve only came across maybe 10 in the rescue all were very even tempered, and so lovable. All and all I don’t agree with a lot of the dogs on this list being dangerous. However, chihuahuas I’ve come across in rescue were alway aggressive. But, mainly due to fear, upon working with them and gaining trust they can be worked with. Hounds and chihuahuas were the two breeds I was attack by. Lmao a lot of little breeds get cranky due to fear.

As a teenager, I once helped raise/care for a Rodisian Ridgeback. It was such a beautiful dog, sweet with high-energy & never showed any signs of aggression, I never even saw it get fussy or mad once…BUT it grew very quickly & I remember it had a very large paw size relative to its body size, it could easily have toppled me over if it tried. When he jumped up, he was easily taller than me (I am 5’3) so once he reached a certain size, I no longer felt I could maintain control of him if he ever got out of hand so I stopped taking care of him.

In the block where I live an owner let his doberman loose to charge down the stairs, probably to take it out for a walk, I was just below the 3rd floor walking down, so I froze when I heard claws of a large dog on the concrete charging down the stairs behind me. It charged past me, seconds later the owner came running down and saw me from behind standing still on the stairs and ordered me to stay still for a moment as he when to catch up with the dog. In a block, that was a scary experience. I didn't think it was lawful for the owner of such a dog to let it freely roam unleashed like this *in a block.* Growing up I've been bitten by a doberman as I walked along a sidewalk past a gate - it lunged forward and took a chunk out of me. Happened so fast. Landed me in the local A&E for treatment.

I had a Turkish Kangal. Very good herding dogs. He was fearless bark snakes away and chase raccoons and other animals away. Scare bears and kept lions away. It was very tactical and skilled and loved herding the animals. It also would patrol around my yard and was on alert and stayed in the barns or in the open. It would climb on top of the chicken coop to over look the barns and even climb up the actual horse barn to check the property. I would find him up high on the building just sitting there looking out into the field then he would howl if he spotted a bear or let me know of wild animals. My only concern was the coyotes pack that would try to lure him away from the walls but he knew better to not run towards them or go away from the walls. He was very good at his job even when he died on the barn. He died at age 17. I had to get a ladder and my family helped me get him down. he died overlooking the skies and fields. very loyal and dedicated dog. I didn't realize he was a ban dog breed here in U.S.A or just a ban dog breed in general.

summary of this video: (i am glad this is said in the description) However, i'll go into detail on Aggression and it's most common variant for anyone interested. If you can't train, socialize and HANDLE them.. Dont get them. All the breeds on this list - all of them - are first and foremost bred for a purpose. That could be Guarding, herding, hunting, fighting, or even as a Companion. Pekingese were bred as Companion dogs to members of the Imperial Court. Meaning, they - like corgis - were bred to be kept in a massive palace and likely treated as royalty themselves. Aggression isn't something they're 'prone' to (and, honestly, no dog is inherently aggressive. Aggression is - first and foremost - learned and rationalized in a dog's mind.) nor is it something they 'born' with. Ridgebacks and Boerboels were BOTH bred to be Guard dogs. However, the Boerboel was meant to be a protection dog - one that could be called upon to hunt. The ridgeback on the other hand was meant to guard herds of cattle, flocks, etc - from Lions. They would bay a lion by zipping in and snapping at it often times confusing the animal until a hunter could come and kill the lion. Ridgebacks were used to take down Baboons, wild hogs, and other big game as well. They require a firm handler who can handle their energy levels and maintain order as - like with MOST hunting/guard animals - both of these breeds are Stubborn/strong-willed and thus require firmer training to ensure they are, in fact, not a threat. Most of the fluffy breeds here, save the Wolf-hybrid and Czech dog, are also not inherently aggressive. They require firm hands to train them simply because they ARE fluffy. No, i mean it. You know how many kids are willing to just walk up to something fluffy? You know how often people assume that a dog is friendly because it is fluffy or tiny? Too many! Chow Chows are known as 'gentle giants', and i can confirm. The only aggressive chow i've seen was one that was poorly trained. As in, it was socialized but not actually taught HOW to handle interaction. This means that instead of scolding or deterring nips, they maybe saw it as funny and cute when it was a puppy and thus that dog nipped (though much harder as it doesnt understand it's own strength) as an adult, and instead of deterring toy/food aggression they giggled and let it go. This is actually a very common thing with puppies of ANY breed - people giggle at the puppies antics and let their habits go until they get bigger and said antic becomes an ACTUAL problem.. then who do they blame?? The dog! My point is, most of the dogs on this list are misunderstood simply because of a few bad owners (and i say that because, lets face it, if you can't train them properly, you weren't prepared to keep them and that means you're likely not meeting other requirements for that dog too.) tainting public perception of that breed. You want to know breeds i HAVE seen that are not shown here? Labradors. Chihuahuas. Greyhounds. Shih Tzu. Pugs. Golden Retrievers. Schnauzers. Weiner dogs. The list goes on. You can look at the above and go "What?! no way" because why? Most of the above are known for being 'cute', 'loyal' and the like.. except you chihuahuas, im sorry but everyone already knows you got bipolar disorder... Truth is... Any dog can be aggressive. Any dog. Just like any person could be a murderer. It is all dependent on: - How they're raised - The environment in which they are raised - how they are trained and IF they are trained - the amount of energy the dog has on a day-to-day basis VS how much energy it spends on a day-to-day basis - and lastly: It's Pack dynamic with it's owner/other animals in its pack. Dogs are more likely to be aggressive if they perceive themselves as the 'dominant' or 'alpha' in a pack setting. Flinching away from your dog, keeping eye contact, and keeping a firm hand in training ensures dogs, normally, understand that YOU are the Dominant party. This can be thrown out of whack if, say, your dog jumps at you. If you immediately cower away or try to turn away they can certainly take this as a sign that you are submitting and that will accumulate over time to mean 'Human is Weaker, i must take over the pack' and they will begin disobeying, acting out, or even pushing boundaries in the form of biting, growling or attacking because you in turn are pushing their boundaries. I've seen aggression in dogs - even unintentionally raised an aggressive dog - so, the above comes from experience. And let me tell you.. Fearing an aggressive dog, fearing a non-aggressive dog just cus they're X breed.. does not help them. Did you know you can re-work an aggressive dog's brain? Dogs become aggressive because they flip a switch on that forces them to rely on their primitive, not-truly forgotten, wild instincts that they inherit from Wolves. Similarly, there are TWO types of aggression. Feral/True aggression, and Territorial Aggression. Whats the different? A Truly aggressive dog flies at you without provocation. These dogs are typically regarded as 'true dangers' and even called 'unpredictable' this is because they act on their own accord and have - in most cases - either been shown only the terrible side of human kind or have NEVER experienced human interaction at all. Thus, they dont have any learning in their brain to tell them "Humans aren't my enemies/rivals" and they attack. Territorial aggression is often mistaken for true aggression. This can apply to a location, food, an object/toy, another animal, or a person. You likely have seen your dog - particularly males - peeing on objects (even persons) or the like? that's them marking what is 'theirs'. Most dogs with decent training won't react to a new comer entering their territory, but those with poor training or a lack of understanding in how to react to strangers in their territory?? They snap, growl, bark (with their teeth on display! barking in itself is not a sign of aggression, check for the teeth) and even lunge or charge at things intruding upon their space and may even bite. However, outside or away from whatever they are territorial/protective of, they may be totally different. This can be for a variety of reasons, but the most common is a person misinterpreting their actions as playful, or thinking it'll simply pass (which, for some dogs, it does! some dogs go through a phase where they think they're all bad and just act out to see if they can get away with it.. I speak from experience on that..) and thus shrugging their shoulders instead of trying to correct it. Domestication in itself is turning off the trait that leads to aggression. How many times have you witnessed a dog full on attacking another or a human? Guaranteed it's relatively low unless you happen to live in an area with high crime. Why? Because those dogs could be trained for Guarding OR attacking (and yes, there is a difference). Similarly, if you 'fear' them, even slightly, you're giving that dog leadership. You're informing them you're weaker, and submitting to their displays of dominance. That, too, can earn you a terrible bite later or worse - lead to a death or serious attack on another.

I really appreciate everyone's input. My brother just got a Cane Corso pup about a month ago and implored me to come over and meet the dog so it would know me when I came over. He has two kids and is incorporating so much into the socialization process. I met the dog yesterday and immediately got on the floor and let him sniff me. I think that really helped as he let me rub him and we played with his tug toy. When I started cooking dinner (that was my gift to the fam) he was underfoot and kind of followed me around. My plan is to go over to visit more often than I did prior to his arrival so that he knows me unconditionally. I was, of course, shocked that it was the number one dog on the banned list. What's funny is that just about every dog on this list I've encountered at one point or another in my life. Not all of the dogs where sweet but that's just the nature of the beast (humans included). He also has no problems with cats , and they just got a new kitten about 8 months ago, so i thing that no matter what kind of canine you bring home to become part of your family as long as you train them correctly and give them lots of love, it will be reciprocated. Be mean, starve and cage a dog of any breed will make them vicious and aggressive. I’m not quite sure why people are still calling out certain dogs as being vicious when it was their masters fault for creating that type of behavior, in which case if thats how you want your dog to be than plz make sure you keep them away from children, so they dont have to ban any more breeds.

Yeah that doesn't surprise me. I remember growing up my neighbor had a Chow that would always try to bite me! He had a purple tongue and scared the crap out of me lol

One of my childhood friends had a big female Chow that very aggressive and intimidating. He tried to convince me otherwise. I was like, nope! He ended up with 17 puncture wounds in his arm.

Boerbuls are extremely protective with small children and perfect family dogs (ours saved my toddler cousin from drowning in the swimming pool) Just make sure you introduce them slowly to new people and keep them in a secure yard.

I have three Cane Corso’s 2.5 year old female sisters from the same litter and a 1 year old male from different parents. They live freely with me and my wife. Never had any issues and hopefully we’ll never have any mishaps. They are socialized and behave well in public.

I've had Came Corsos for 16 years. They are very protective of the family, but proper socializing makes them fabulous pets. I've never seen aggression from them. They will warn strangers to stay back. I love the breed even with the goober lips.

All dogs can be dangerous. It depends on how they are trained and treated . Certain breeds are too overprotective to their food , owners or family . For instance pitbulls are actually really intelligent, so they can learn quickly. it’s just their alpha mentality. You have to make them see that your the leader. Just don’t abuse them and don’t keep them couped up in the house or kennel. They like running playing and chasing things You can teach them to be docile around humans but other animals and pets that aren’t yours are a different story.

"they will warn strangers to stay back" is that not a form of aggression?

@@Jenskieez probably if they get too close to the property or if the cane doesn’t know them. I have one and he’s so sweet and when he’s away from home he’s very social and likes to say hi to everyone but when he’s home he’s very protective like that

I have a staffie and an Akita Inu now. They are both very friendly with people and other dogs if the other dogs are not very aggresive. I used to have another Akita, the american type. That one was very aggresive with other dogs. With strangers was indiferent. I had other breads (GSP, boxer). It is not just the bread or how you raise them. It is also in the genetics of the specific dog. Overall I would say that Akita are amazing but can be very hard to control. Much harder than the pit.

That American type “Akita” is just a mat. No such breed is recognized in Japan and is frowned upon. Americans just make things up and breed bad tempered dog and call it something else, far from actual Akita. I mean they call cows something jacked up too like Wagyu with not even 5% actual pedigreed Japanese cow and call it wagyu. Horrid. Fake wagyu really, cultural misappropriations is paramount in the U.S. 😑

ALL dog fights need to be banned in every country. It's cruel and abusive . I do have an Argentine Dogo and he is the most gentle soul . We found him starving in the street. He has been with us for several years now with 7 more dogs that we took in from abusive situations. All our dogs are friendly, but do guard our house well.

My dad had an Akita Chow mix... he was a great dog. His name was Cruiser. My dad trained him well. He didn't mind when my older brother got his puppy. He always made me feel safe.
