In the UK, I found out the best pitta bread to use for making Hawawshi is Warburtons "easy to fill" whole meal pittas. You can buy them from any major supermarket. They are slightly more on the expensive side but for me, it's worth it.

Hawawshi has it's own bread being Ish Baladi which is an Egyptian traditional bread but eh Pitta bread works too
Your food is prepared with an abundance of love. We can strongly sense it all the way here in the USA and Egypt.
"it would be if we weren't gonna cook it, but we will. DUH" 🤣🤣🤣 Guys, I'm definitely gonna make these soon. Thanks for taking me on a trip to Egypt!

Just gave this recipe a try. Opted for baking it. Mind blown. So good. No idea how it stayed crispy inside the parchment in the oven. Thank you for the recipe.

Can't wait to make this! Thanks again for your detailed recipe and guide combinations!
Just want to say a massive thank you for sharing all these wonderful recipes. I love Middle Eastern food and I’ve tried a few of your recipes already. They have all turned out superb with a big thumbs up from all the family. I’ll keep working through your fantastic recipes. Thanks again 😊❤️
Awesome content, Obi. So grateful for you putting this stuff on my radar and teaching me and my partner how to cook these things ourselves! ❤
Another amazing recipe! I always eat this with my family and Egyptian and never knew how my aunties make it! Gonna try and make this in the UK now thanks to you Obi! Keep up the amazing work 🔥👌🏽🇪🇬
Ah! I know this as "arayes"! Best sandwich, on all of the earth! 🥰

Thank you for this! It looks so yummy and different from what I normally cook but also so doable. Must be delicious 😋
Yet another absolute winner. I made a ton of those arayes from the last recipe and froze them after cooking for easy reheated meals. They were superb after a re-crisping in the oven or pan.

Hey man, absolutely love your videos, I've made a handful of your recipes and they're amazing. As someone who grew up in Kuwait who now lives in America, you are a goldmine. One suggestion: please don't go super clickbait with the titles. Often when I'm looking for something to cook, I'll scroll through your channel to find a dish to make, and a title like "The Most ADDICTIVE Street Food In Egypt" doesn't give me any information about what it is. Having the name of the recipe in the title is super helpful and I'm sure will allow people to find it much easier if they're searching for "Make homemade x" or "recipe for x." They won't know if it's a recipe for Arayes if it isn't in the title. You don't have it in the description either.

Agree. Obi's meticulous work on these recipes deserves a title that is equally good and precise. Put the word hawawshi in there at least.

@@uridechaco Ara'yes have a different flavor profile though. Obi is presenting the typical Egyptian way to prepare these, and calling them ara'yes would be inaccurate.
I love this channel Best thing about it is the accuracy of recipes Mostly authentic simple and easy
5:24 the way you said "oof" is a perfectly healthy sign that you are a true Egyptian!
this channel hits that gold standard, when after watching i have a greater urge to cook, and eat, thx for great content
This looks fabulous, got to try this for sure!!
These look quite similar to arayes, which I learned about from another recipe on this channel. Those had baharat as the main spice mix and parsley instead of green chili in the paste. One of the best foods I've ever eaten, so I can confidently recommend this Egyptian version too even if it's a little different!

@@rowantharwat9195 To be honest as a person from the Gulf, arayes is definitely way more popular here in this region, most people have probably never tried hawawshi or if they did it was a one time only thing when they travelled to Egypt or something like that. I tried both and honestly you probably would like whichever one you grew up eating. For me that was arayes, but not all arayes is created equal, it can be really delicious or a bit underwhelming. I would say a main reason is the type of bread used to make it.

omg thank you so much for working on this recipe!
Excellent take on Hawawshi! The one tried and tested condiment that goes exceptionally well with it is Tahina!
I can't thank you enough for this recipe. It my favorite and although we have 2 good restaurant serving it I always think nothing can beat homemade food. Definitely will be trying In Shaa Allah.
These look killer Obi - glad to see your channel is doing great too; well deserved!
Awesome. I appreciate you sharing.
So when i went to Egypt we had a guide for the trip who took us to these overrated restaurants and we weren’t impressed by the food in Egypt thus far. But then we ditched the tour guide because they’re overpriced and not necessary and on our 2nd day got some of these. Mind blowing. We ate so well the rest of the time we were there.
These look awesome! Such inviting colors on the pitas!
-So much love goes into your food. We can feel it way over here in the States. 🇺🇸 ❤
This is my family’s absolute favorite!!!! My sons always want this as an afternoon snack !!! Mmmm MashAllah
I don't know why these aren't sold at any of the local restaurants - they look so delicious and appear pretty simple to make. Cheeseburgers are jealous of their Egyptian cousin.
Delicious, thanks !
Nice one as always, another one ill be trying this weekend
Be careful, if you get pita bread, make sure you get the right kind, because some of them dont split in the middle properly and it is the most frustrating thing in the world
They look delicious. Sadly I managed to miss them when I visited Egypt but I did fall in love with kushari.
It’s called hawowshi cause every time you eat it, you say wow!!!
That looks so good 🤤
while I've never had these, I've had kebab filled naan and roti, and those are so extremely tasty that I'm sure I'll have the same opinion on these. they look really nice
Love that! Will try it on Friday
Looks Delicious!
Irresistible smell and wonderful taste 💯
Too tempting!!
these look sooo good, i want to try 😍
I absolutely love them! My friends and family fell in loveee
I absolutely love your videos👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽.
Subbed for this 😍❤️
Delicious! Juicy beyond belief. I want to make some again and add some toum. One of my favorite recipes so far!
Thank you very much for the recipe. I always wanted to make it at home. I never saw it being made, as it is mostly street food that my Mother never allowed us to have for fear of the meat quality... There was only one place years after that made them and I finally tried it as an adult after rave reviews and I am hooked ever since ... Thank you :)
In the 1970’s we ate our hamburgers in pita bread with soft cheese, pickles, alfalfa sprouts, ketchup and mustard. Delicious.
As an Egyptian,i can confirm that this is delicious, there is Another way it is the Alexandria way,you can buy it from Alexandria or you can make at home if you have the right ingredients the Alexandria way is very cool and delicious

true but as i mentioned in my comment he needs thicker bread ( 3eesh baladi ) and he needs more fat in the meat to make it jucier ,. and brush the bread with Ghee ( samna balady) or butter, egyptian here as well :) from Cairo though ;) Regheef el Amir nostalgia lol
Man. These look so tasty and yet so easy to prepare and cook. Thanks for the tip. You´ve earned a sub for the channel from me today..
This is Cairo Style Hawawshi (yes that's it name), I refer Alexandria style more where the bread and meat cooked and backed together less greasy more flavor.
made them today! very nice indeed!
These look so good!
Made these today and theyre AMAZING! I used a little too much oil but thats okay, they still turned oit amazing. 🤤
Oh I can't wait to make this!
As an Egyptian,I'm impressed.. you nailed it ✨
Thank you
looks incredible
I did exactly as you showed but for the spices I just boharat mix and I wrapped them up in parchment and baked them…ohhh my goodness ,they are wonderful
I had put on marsa matruh in 2005. I've missed it so much! So thank you for sharing this amazing recipe
I haven't even made this yet, and it's _already_ my new favorite food!
Obi always knows what's good thanks for this recipe I'm gonna try it soon!
Reminds me of arayes, and there's also an interesting similar dish from Aleppo, called Toshka, basically meat and kashkaval cheese in a flat bread, with pickles and zaatar. different seasoning for the meat though

Oh man, so simple yet so tasty:)
Awesome! My koobideh doesn't always stay together on the BBQ, this seems like a much safer option!
"Pro Tip: Do your real emotional crying when you're doing this so no one suspects a thing." That got a hearty chuckle out of me.
I prefer them thinner, charcoal grilled, and lamb meat is a must!
I love this dish as a Kuwaiti and it’s so delicious, people from gulf countries calls this Iraiess.
Sandwich queen here. OMG! I am so making these. I have a list of EATS! My question is which is better? Lamb or beef ones.
I’m British in Bahrain, my Egyptian friend made these last night (odd that this video popped up today); we got the bread from an Egyptian bakery, the result was yummy

I've done something similar using tortillas. If they're small I put the meat between 2 and if I have the larger ones I put meat on one half and fold it over. The way my wife reacted the first time I did them was enough for me to keep making them once in awhile.
I tried this recipe and it was delicious! However my pita fell to pieces in the frying pan. 😢 I will try a different brand next time
I like it ❤
I love how there's no glove use when seeding the hot chilis, gloves for some of the mixing, then no gloves again 😂 too funny. This looks really delicious also
thanks

I did this with pork mince and it turned out very well 😊
hey @middleeats, do you think syrian-style Khoubz would be a suitable bread to use? I can find them fairly regularly in the UK
