Don’t forget the April General Conference where they hardly even acknowledged the pandemic because it made the audacity to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the supposed First Vision and then to top off the event they had every participate in germ-spreading hanky wave. I know that people only participated from home, but the optic was so Bizarro World.

No, this is not true. I don't know if you actually watched it or if this is hearsay, but what you are describing is not the Conference I watched. Our Prophet very soberly addressed the Pandemic in three of his talks across the conference. And families were in their homes watching the conference, they didn't use the Conference Center main auditorium, so the audience was few and they were spaced out. And please don't make light of a practice (the Hosannah Shout) which is quite sacred to us.

@@c0ltz450 That must have been a difficult experience for you. Sounds like you feel the Church failed you. I'm sure you are open minded enough to realize that the vast majority of active youth in the Church had and do have no such experience. They talk about the anchor the gospel of Jesus Christ was in their lives, how the Church helped them navigate the normal trials of teen life. I was a late teen convert myself and it certainly was that for me, and for many of my friends who were in the Church from birth. Still, I think you would agree it's not right to denigrate sacred practices of any faith, that's what I was pointing out. I wish you well -

It reminds me of a story on my mission (Russia about 17ish years ago. I was often not a popular missionary amongst my missionary peers. I used quite a bit of common sense, healthy communication practices, cross-checking, and good rationale over blind believing or shady manipulative practices being pushed on as 'God' or 'holiness'). A member in a branch had TB and they took it upon themselves to be responsible to stay at home and quarantine themselves until they got better. The Utah missionaries in district leader positions and the Branch presidency hounded this responsible member to go to church no matter what. The member tried to defend his position and had a heart to not get the children in the branch infected. The district leaders got more upset over being resisted and took it upon themselves to 'Go God mode' on the member. They threatened the member's membership in the church for not attending and created a following for the other missionaries to chip away at this member. They pushed onto the member that disease is not a recognizable issue, and his issue was to have more faith. They pushed the notion of belief that faith is greater than trusting in medicine etc. The member finally came to church and stuck it out in sacrament meeting then went back home. From that member's attendance, a few children came down with TB. A newborn child went critical during their sleep at night and passed away whilst sleeping. The missionaries didn't take responsibility for their idiocy nor for the stringent course of their linear belief. They turned that child's funeral into a strong polar movement for their own conversion campaigning 'families are forever' and 'Your child's death doesn't matter, because you'll see them again after this life so long as your family gets sealed'. It was quite cold. I remember absolutely hating the cold apathetic overtone of idiot belief pushing. (There is a time and place for such things, a death is quite tragic and shoving belief down someone's throat deserves a kick in the rear or a slap in the face) The missionaries didn't regard to recognize the family to grieve or the branch to 'take care of their own'. The missionaries were more wrapped up in making their own funeral program and getting more investigators to come to some 'grandiose' program. They tried to create their own program outside of the family's knowledge and then tried to push the family to attend to accept the program and push them to bear their testimony. That family declined. That family was pretty upset, they had every right to be. They quickly withdrew from having contact with the missionaries. The missionaries in the leadership positions of the Branch came down on the family for not attending, when that family needed time to grieve. The other missionaries being young and stupid invented and passed gossip around the Branch members about the family. The gossip was way out of bounds, and way out of context. Some missionaries were even in a competition who could spin the more believable off-putting story. The missionaries were trying to indirectly 'hurt' the family for their attendance insubordination and push a strong notion of 'right and good' to the other unaware branch members. That family came back to their reputation being ruined and a hostile sort of congregation fed on the lies of the missionaries. That family quit the church. The missionaries buried the goodwill, the good nature, and legacy of that family in more gossip until they were seen as outcasts and not worth saving. Over the years. I'm pretty much convinced that Church is more of a belief engine. Relying on the church for stable security of health, stability, or good care is beyond the organization. You had some notions of this from Home Teaching, but that program didn't stay consistent in all wards/branches and that program is now gone. (Home Teaching not staying consistent meaning... It no longer became an outreach of camaraderie and checking on the welfare of the member as to how it was taught back in my generation. Home Teaching became too preachy, too scripted, and rather creepy on how I've seen others practice it to force their spin on interpretation of scripture or idiosyncratic notions of weird over-embellished 'righteousness') You have good well-connected people that go through life, that shoulder life, and they recognize such things beyond the church and its engine and that is really what makes life connected and work. Beyond that communities are a hit and miss if you don't have well-connected people, people that are number hungry, or people stuck in their frivolous absolute obedience loops that don't result in any healthy behaviors. There are other people that care about lives and take up a hidden self-responsibility to notice meaning in other's lives - To add or reinforce a notion of security to good health or at least better care. I wish leaders of the church recognized such a notion on the whole with their whole following than to see or push the notion on their followers for absolute obedience or see followers as a source of energy for their 'faith' engine.

Despicable conduct, but completely plausible given how the church never errs and therefore refuses to accept responsibility for bad or negative outcomes resulting from their inane, bumbling incompetence. The explanation is always attributed to someone's unworthiness or insufficient faith. Yet, there are none so blind as those who will not see. Many still cling to the most absurd, ridiculous explanations, equivocations, and half-truths out of fear and because they refuse to stand up on their hind legs and think for themselves.

Probably the most important key to this mortal experience is that God gave us our agency to choose and maintains an environment that ensures we keep the ability to choose. God has never used his prophets and leaders to dictate what we should do and thus eliminate our agency to choose. Prophets and leaders are here to teach and guide us in the paths of righteousness, and then it is up to each of us to choose, along with our own prayer and inspiration, how to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ through his prophets and leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There are really only two main sources of influence in this world, Jesus and Satan. We have to constantly ask ourselves each day what influence is it that we are choosing to let affect our lives.

I appreciate Mr. Larsen's observation, however my observation, first hand, during the first few months of the plandemic revealed to me the same truth....in a much more direct and simple revelation. A week or two after the Moroni statue had fallen and celestially "disappeared" from the Salt Lake temple during the morning earthquake downtown, the plandemic was underway full force with the patriotic national guard standing/sitting at a semi-half parade rest quazi guard duty post on most downtown intersections north of 600 south and south of the capitol. There was much confusion given the earthquake, the missing holy idol, civil unrest and of course the mark of the beast event of the millenia itself ("The flu which must not be named!"). So as I was living in my overland SUV with my German Shep service dog at the time, with no place to call home other than a rooftop tent...I took no part in the activities sponsored by our wonderful and thoughtful world government. My reasoning was, because the festivities were quite literally stupid to me, as an onlooker and not a participant. I watched in fascination as early on in the carnival ride I noticed, as we all did, my local "Smith's" grocery store mandated masks and I was told to leave. That's not the part that scared me. What scared me was..how quickly this behemoth of a grocery chain had project managed wonderful colorful little footprints for the store floors, telling customers in which direction to walk for each aisle. This, along with signs, posters, commercials for digital tvs in store, all very professionally designed, layed out and printed--- were revealed to the Salt Lake Valley (and little did I know at the time...the world) in just a few days time. Smith's, Home Depot, Pawn Shops, Gas Stations...all of them had the same wonderful carnival signs and footprints. In a few days time. What coordination indeed. So, on to my point. A day later, The LDS church announced that members should stay home and doors would be shut, until the 6th seal of the apocalypse was concluded, of course. My observation was bluntly this.... So your telling me that, 1. Every grocery chain in the free world managed to coordinate and release a global marketing campaign consisting of pretty footprint stickers...informing customers in which direction to walk in just two days. 2. The holy relic was still missing 3. The temple was damaged from a rare earthquake 4. The National Guard was posted up in our hometown. 5. OH and don't forget, the cough cough. And what does the prophet, seer and revelator command his people to do? Yeah. Shut the doors, don't congregate too loud, quietly accept the mark of the beast at your local Walgreens please...oh and while your at it...please continue to pay tithing. I drove to Moab the next week with Grizzwold my dog. And we spent a wonderful, glorious and free 3 years camped out in the desert....praying to God, on our own..just fine. Amen
