I saw him this July 9 2024 in Hershey Theater. Front row center. Justin sounds even better than in this video. Nights in White Satin, he sounded just like he did in the 70’s. Hit all the high notes and held them out long. I was amazed. Unbelievable.

I grew up in the 60s and 70s and it was an era of the greatest songs ever recorded and so many have gone by and we've forgotten how good they are. This is one of those songs. Now I can't stop listening to it again.

He's changed (compared to my youth in the 60's), his voice has roughened, their music is different, the line up is reconfigured, but are they STILL great? Yes!!! Every time I've seen them has been a gift. As long as Justin and John front them and Mr. Edge is setting the rhythm, they remain the Moody EFFIN Blues. We thank you. Isn't life strange? Isn't life wonderful.

Does any one of the "Drummer Aficionados" watching this clip, know who is the back-up drummer to Graeme Edge? I believe, just from a far glimpse, since the cameras were not on him much, that was MICKEY CURRY, who was with Hall & Oates from the late 70s to mid 80's & did much studio work with Bryan Adams; am I correct on that? BTW way, there was a couple other commentators here on the thread who had some VERY NASTY words to say why Graeme needed a back-up drummer in the first place. It goes back to the NASTY televised court case when Haywood, Lodge & Edge felt that they needed to dismiss Patrick Moraz (keyboardist) from the Moody Blues in the early 90's, because, as Haywood simply put it, "He was no longer sounding good!" (verbatim) The defense argued, if that's the case then why does Mr. Edge need a 2nd drummer on stage with him during concerts; perhaps HE is no longer "sounding good" as well? When Edge took the witness stand, he testified that in the late 80s, during their "The Other Side of Life" & "Sur la Mer" album releases, they were experimenting with alot of different kinds of electronic percussion, in addition to his traditional acoustic drum kit and if they were to stay true to those "newer" types of sounds in their concerts & tours, then they would NEED a 2nd drummer and/or percussionist on stage, so he (Edge) could focus on playing his acoustic set & the 2nd drummer/percussionist could handle electronic percussion samples, as well as even a 2nd set of acoustic drums, if needed. BTW, the three key members of The Moody Blues won that legal case, but still needed to pay Moraz a somewhat minimal departing severance package. And that was that! Since then, Edge had ALWAYS welcomed a 2nd drummer/percussionist on stage with him. HEY, if you're the drummer of one of THEE MOST popular rock bands of all time, then quite bluntly, if YOU want a 2nd drummer to back you up, then there shouldn't be ANY rebuttal on that. How many guitar players did the Eagles had, have & recruited after the loss of Frey...I loose count. No one brings up the issue why .38 Special & of all bands, The Doobie Brothers, ALWAYS had dual drummers? And what about Phil Collins in concert as a solo artist? He ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS had accomplished drummer Chester Thompson by his side on his own MASSIVE drum kit. While Phil was really good with his signature "time switching" skills & juicy, fancy backward-flip drum rolls, Thompson was there keeping PERFECT METER on his drums, while playing them like he was jack hammering cement sidewalks & sledgehammering brick walls! Enough said... Rest In Peace, Mr. Graeme Edge; Mister #1 Drummer! ...BolsaChicaRadio ============== PS: (Here I go again...I'm just on a friggin' roll here. Another commentator also said, "Graeme Edge wasn't really playing drums. You can tell. He's wayyyyyyy behind." NOT TRUE. That may appeared to be so, but not the case; Graeme was playing 1/4 notes on the hi-hats, where the 2nd drummer was playing 1/8 notes on his hi-hats, which "may" give an optical impression that Edge was "way behind", but that was NOT the case at all. AND YES, I played drums for many years...and I DO KNOW what I am speaking of. OK, time to go now...I talked enough! Oh yeah...one last thing...my original question; was that MICKEY CURRY along with Graeme, or not? Goodbye. Oh yes...try to have a "nice" day, too!

Second drummer was Gordon "Gordy" Marshall. My understanding was that he was brought on board back in the early 1990s to back up Graeme while he was healing from a shoulder injury. I would guess that Gordy worked out so well, they kept him on for more than 20 years. Gordy left in 2015 to pursue other ventures, and he was replaced by Billy Ashbaugh. Billy played until the band stopped touring in 2018.

@@CrankyBeach Thank you SO much C.B., for bringing forth this great "PERCUSSIVE" information to answer my question! I really thought it was Mickey Curry at Graeme's side, but indeed because of your thorough detail, it was GORDY MARSHALL...a dang great sounding drummer!!! As I was once a drummer, it would have been an COMPLETE HONOR to take 2nd seat to the great/late Graeme Edge. Who knows? Maybe someday when I get to heaven, I'll be the 2nd drummer for Ringo, in "Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band"! (Oh, by the way, to that nay-sayer in this thread, saying that Graeme SHOULDN'T HAVE a 2nd drummer...I guess he could start that silly argument with Starr now?) BCRadio

That was an interesting read...thanks for taking the time composing it. I've always been fascinated with drummers...watching them play...they are the ones having the physical part of playing. I play acoustic guitar & mandolin...have a lifelong friend who plays drums/ percussion. He sometimes plays with me on gigs...he constructed a "kit" consisting of a wooden chicken coop for kick drum...and cymbals...a cooking pot...a mailbox attached to chicken coop..and has other stuff too. He's a treat to watch him play...I play jugband...Doc Watson..John Prine...Grateful Dead...and bluegrass. Playing music is all about having fun...knew I'd never be "singer in a rock n roll band"...so I enjoy what I play! Cheers from Georgia USA. 👍
