Turnip 28 is a fictional alternate timeline universe where the time line diverge during the napoleonic era where after his death a strange vegetation which they now call “The Root” starts growing and taking over the land, the root is just poisonous and kills any animal life and vegetation and flora that we know of and it consumes animal and human life and remade them into strange and bizarre creatures and this makes the humans fight harder for landmasses untainted by the root but eventually the root takes place everywhere and the surviving humans have no choice but to adapt to their new land. The human race or what’s left of them survives thanks to the vegetables and flora that grows from the root which they now have to rely on for food and sustenance and in turn the humans worships the root for its bounty, the thing about the root is that some people who eat it recieves “divine visions” from the root and this resulted in them forming different cults and civilisations that waged war over the different interpretations of the roots. Technology is pretty much stagnant in turnip 28 universe and they still wage war in a napoleonic style warfare with Calvary and rifle formations. It’s quite grim dark but at the same time the universe of turnip 28 doesn’t takes it self seriously, I hear some people describe it as a grim dark Monty python sketch and it’s quite apt coz the kind of people that inhabits the universe and the reason they use to go to war are just petty in the most entertaining way possible

That - almost - sounds similar to Remnant. In Remnant, The Root is a Lovecraftian entity that invades worlds through dreams (more or less - this is abridged) and it's armies are many variations of plant and monsters, some wielding daggers and knives and magic, others wielding guns and bombs and toxins. Humanity survived by either going mad max, or taking to makeshift bunkers - using crystalline nodes to travel around.

Turnip 28, as far as I know, do not have official models. You are encouraged to kitbash whatever you want; just as long as the bases are the right size. So you can have an army of Undead Rat People and it would work. What also is good with the idea is this; There are no real factions. So your army can fit basically all of the different Cults the game has to offer.

3:47 That is a reference to the Hieronymus Bosch painting "The Garden of Earthly Delights", particularly the pannel depicting Hell. It is a demon that eats (and defecates) the souls of the damned sitting upon a high chair. The Great Proboscis is also a reference to something, but I’m having a hard time finding the work.

To explain the unit types: Snobs are your commanding units that allow you to deploy squads Toffs: Your Senior officer unit that has command over 2 squads and act as an Army general Toadies: lesser officers that command a single squad . The Toadies and Toffs issue commands to their squads and battlefield abilities. Squads! Fodder: usually the backbone of a regiment and the standerd type of unit. They can be equipped with ranged weapons like muskets or bows, or melee weapons Brutes: your more armored foot soldier type that can take more hits. And are fearless Chaff: your skirmisher unit that despite being terrible shotz, they have the ability to vangard Whelps: your light cavalry unit that can use ranged and melee weapons. They are quicker and more menuverable with a Dash ability *Bastards*: your heavy cavalry Knight type squad that can reroll a failed charge. Be it a Root imitation horse or giant Snail these guys are going to me the hammer of your Regiment Artillery takes the form of a Stump gun, a large cannon that has been salvaged from the long ago war and can blow away an entire squad I hope this helps and Have a nice day 👍🌄

indeed. the cults make up the respective army flavouring and special abilities, even giving some unique and special units that usually build on some unique units. for example, the great probuscus cult likely replaces a whole unit of bastards with a single model that is uniquely powerful, while a cult like the brotherhood of greed (the one we see opposing it) would has the power to consume their own units to gain immediate benefits, and also their leaders have special mutations. there are a lot of different cults, and with those cults lots of different armies one could put together. you could have a battle where the hagbabies, now berift of their mercenaries after the jackalope knights newfound religious spirituality, decide to call on a new found stratagy for revenge and their desire for haircare by commandeering a makeshift hot air balloon and trying to snipe their enemies and bomb the enemy with impunity, though that might not be for the best if the fodder perform another hail of gunfire to pick off the flying balloon. or perhaps they call upon the devastating firepower of the cult of the grand bombard or the Saint Alamei’s Rocket Batteries, trying to blow away the fortress that has spited them so thoroughly.

While there are no set “model range” for T28 sense it’s all mostly kitbashed, the cavity units are called bastards because, in game fluff, they are ALL the literal bastard children of your army’s toady (sniveling seconds in command) and only got the job of cavalry because of nepotism and there expendability.

Older editions of Warhammer (both fantasy and future) also had that “failed dangerous terrain check = dead model, regardless of how tough” rule, which is pretty hilarious when you’ve got a giant-wolf-riding space marine, ork nob on bike, or Tyranid warrior tripping over some barbed wire or the like and dying immediately

Sometimes, it just helps to watch a Battle Report or a reaction from a good You-Tuber. Anyway, a quick glance through the rules doesn't seem to have rules for destructible terrain, at least in the base rules. That said, probably not too hard to add them in if you wish.

I'm late to the party but there is no actual model line. You just kitbash what ever you want. There is a few things to know. Your to hit stat is call inaccuracy, for example, Your armor save is called "Vulnerability" and everyone's stats suck. I think the best to hit stat I have seen is a 5+. Worth keeping in mind I think. You pick a leader called a "Toff" and a number of "Toadies" who are the officers. The Toff gets two units under them each Toady gets 1. You then pick the follower units.
