I lived in West Gorton in the 50s and early 60s until I was 14 , my gran used to go to the monastery every Sunday . On the odd occasion she took me there ( I was christened Anglican at St Marks ) it scared the bejesus out of me as it was so dark and gloomy. Congratulations on the restoration, it now looks as it was meant to. I doubt I will ever see it in person as we emigrated to Australia in 1967 and I'm now 67 but thanks for bringing back many memeories

Would the Franciscan Monks return and is it consicreatated as a Church? I worked at Ferranti West Gorton late 1950s was an apprentice electrical enginèer, sent from Hollinwood branch which was part of the excellent training they gave back then. Been in Africa since 1966 and there are transformers built at Hollinwood still in service here. West Gorton built a huge computer which wonder of wonders you could walk inside huge valves and it spoke!!! Wonder if anyone else recalls this.
