@AvNerd. I used to play goalkeeper and I did for 3 years, and I can tell you with 100% certainty that while defending a long shot you NEVER dive toward it. You always go back a little to give yourself extra time. The optimal trajectory of his dive is right through the attacker, who was bigger than him and blocking him, so he stopped at the last moment

This is just absurd. The ball was CLEARLY shot from a different angle. The goal keeper clearly saw the ball coming. 100% robbery and honestly France couldn't hit a ball plank during this game. Griezmann hade like two open goals and his attempts were puny. Also, the commentators worshipping France as if they made the greatest tournament quite simply baffled me ...respect the dutch team.

The rule is: no opposition player should obstruct the goalkeeper or block his vision of any potential goal attempt. The player was on the side of maignan where maignan is supposed to dive to save the attempt, and the player is also offside. It doesnt matter if maignan “would have” or “ couldn’t have” made the save or not, the rule is simple and doesnt involve ifs, buts, woulds or maybes. hence it was offside get your facts right first and then try to be smarter in the comments😒

@@sixtealbisetti2480 A player passing the ball over the line for a goal kick, while going past a goalie and then getting floored still gets a penalty despite never being able to score from that situation. This is just the opposite situation on the other end. I'm Dutch myself, and while it is a harsh decision, it was an on-field decision which wasn't a "clear and obvious" error, but simply a harsh one. The VAR wasn't allowed to overturn it, so to me it didn't feel like we were robbed, but just very unlucky.

No, he saw the ref, who took away a clear goal, and Dumfries told the ref he didn't understand his decision. It was a clear goal, the only 2 in the goalkeeper's sight were 2 French players, he never had a chance to stop the shot, he was too late.That ref had other strange decisions in favour of the French throughout the game.

It's a tough decision. After watching it one time. When you see all angles it's actually fairly easy. No way the goalkeeper gets that ball, so no interference.

The dutch player prevents Maignan from moving BEFORE the strike. It means Maignan can't freely position himself to have a clear view of the situation, and to prepare for a dive. the offside position starts before the strike, the dutch player is hindering.

I don't get why everyone says the goal was robbed. The player stands right next to the goalkeeper, practically between the ball and gk. Of course it's offside and I say that as a german, it's not like i like France a lot or something

As a Dutchman I must say our squad was shite, we created barely any scoring chances in 90 mins. With that being said though, we should have won this match that was absolute robbery to have that goal disallowed! 😅😅😅😅

You are being way too negative. Ok our offense was sloppy but our defense was ON POINT. We won this match 1-0, but got robbed of the goal.
