The moment Barou Shoei re-lit my spark (Blue Lock - Barou's Awakening)

Фильм және анимация

In episode 18 of Blue Lock, Barou finally awakens, pushing his self-pity/doubt to one side and once again becoming "The King".
Barou finally gives in and passes to Isagi at the start of the episode, which leads him spirally down into crisis, after seeing the crossroads he was at, the desperation to avoid that future kicked in, and Barou Awakens, scoring a phenomenal goal.
Honestly I never know what to write in these descriptions lmao I just waffle to fit in as many keywords as possible, hope you all enjoy though!

I ended up unconsciously obsessed with this scene, repeating it time and time. It reminded me to much of myself. It makes me uncomfortable to the point that The scene of him watching Isagi on TV gives me chills. His voice, always stoic, sounds suddenly desperate. Falling into conformity is like death to him. What a mentality. I wish I had that. I'm going to have that.

This thought process isn't sustainable though. The truth is that the majority of people get disqualified and forgotten, seen as nothing more than collateral damage. The show doesn't teach how to cope with defeat, only to keep pushing yourself until someone quite litterally breaks you. It isn't healthy, and i wouldn't recomend this show as inspiration for anyone. It is the american dream reformated into sports, where the 1% stand atop the forgotten 99%. And the 99% are taught to sabotage each other to validate their existance rather than living for the moment. Naratives are increadibly contagious for the aimless, and ultimatly I find it irresponsible. Especially when your target audience is highschoolers.

@@atilla9684 Sure ego is healthy in small doses, but this show does not show how to balance out ego. It doesn’t even teach that there are negatives to ego, it only praises it nonstop. The mc is 100% going to end up alone at the top and have to restructure how they live entirely. So are all the people who follow this show’s philosophy all the way through. Also, just cuz something provides inspiration doesn’t mean it’s healthy. You can just look to the red pill for how easy it is to mind fck people through self help. But ya, agree to disagree I guess.

Barou will always be my favourite sports anime character. This scene alone made me rethink my whole life. Me who my whole life was on top (had the best grades, had a six pack, had friends, did sports, actually had an ego) stopped caring about all those things and settled for mediocrity because It was the easy road to take. Now I'm a broken man with shit grades, a fat decaying body and social anxiety who does not leave his house and has a terrible sleep schedule. This scene made see what truly lies ahead, if I don't change and strive to be the best version of me, i'll will end up living a a full life of regret with forsaken dreams and goals. I never though a single anime scene from a sports anime could make me rethink my whole life. I think Blue lock legit saved my life, I have now started eating healthy, going to the gym, sleeping well and studying more. I can't afford to loose my motivation ever again that I know what awaits me if I do. Thank you Blue Lock

Bro I relate to you on a spiritual level. I'm also a broken man now. Being the best without trying and being rewarded while not putting in any effort fucks you up as you grow up. I used to hate football until reading blue lock not because I geniunely despised the sport itself but because it was one of the things I was truly terrible and couldn't get better at and I was constantly bullied physically and verbally for it because my "friends" needed revenge for the things I surpassed them in. After catching up with the manga now I sit down with my dad and watch matches every week. I also want to buy a high quality football as soon as I get some money and I'm gonna hit the gym too. I'll probably only play football alone until I'm comfortable enough to play with other people but I played basketball for 8 years starting with almost no natural talent so who says I can't learn football too? I don't know if you'd be comfortable with it but I'd like to talk about our progress from time to time because even if we're not in the same boat, the boats sure look similar.

If there is anything i've learned from constantly losing in games it's that you have to admit you lost. I know a lot of people who'll refuse to admit they lost and begin using excuses like "I wasn't that serious" or "That was just lucky", but those excuses doesn't matter, you still lost. I have a story here of how me and my friend took defeat. Chess has recently gotten popular in my class. All the guys are playing it and me and my friend took two games. One was a 5 minute and one was a 10 minute. Now the 5 minute one i lost, not because i was put in checkmate but because the timer ran out for me. At first i thought it was a bit cheap but then the guy starts getting a little cocky, and that made me think he didn't deserve that win because he relied on time, there was "zero skill" invovled. I challenge him again to a 10 minute game and while he was going good at first, i completely turned the tables on him and checkmated him. At that time i was still salty and his friends teased him for losing to me. He said "I wasn't serious" and that he would have beaten me if he was, to which i said "Who of us won by running time out and who won by checkmating the other. I now realize that while that loss was annoying, no one knows what would have happend if we could have kept playing. I was just using the excuse that if time was longer i would have won, i was ultimately just denying the fact that i lost. If you accept defeat, then use that frustration as a motivator to beat them next time.

The biggest difference between Barou and Isagi is mentality and mental journey. When the pressure is off him he feels relieved. When the pressure is on, he can get quite stressed, but doesn't show it. He tries to keep calm. Isagi *relishes* the stress. The struggle. The internal fight. Thats what drives him. The *pain* is what makes Isagi more powerful. When hes at his worst, is when he starts to grow best. And he knows that. *"I need you to shut up, genius. I'm about to get to the good part."* - Yoichi Isagi, on the verge of defeat.

I know exactly how you feel. It took me years of working on myself. I had the drive to be better, the hunger to be the best, and the discipline to stay on track. What I lacked was that unwavering confidence and a true sense of self identity. Barou was an inspiration that helped me discover my ego. I was there and I felt unstoppable. I knew what I wanted, who I was, and what I valued. And I finally felt like I truly did not care what people thought about me. The feeling is like no other. Its impossible to explain to somebody who hasn't felt it before. Not even 2 weeks later I got injured. It completely changed my life around. I lost my job, I lost my ability to workout, and to do martial arts. I'm 4 months into recovery and my mindset has regressed. The hardest battle isnt the physical, its the mental. I'm fighting to hang on to who I was rather than falling into comfort, weakness, and lack of discipline. I only scratched the surface of what I could achieve with that mindset. I will get it back. Discipline is difficult at first but becomes easier over time. The feeling is worth it so dont stop chasing it. Crush the voice in your head thats weak, tired, and scared. Listen to your ego. Be the person you want to be and dont let anyone or anything get in your way

If not ignoring then just total ignorance of, my genuine dream is to become a champion mma fight and I have faith in that. However, excuse after excuse I'd take two steps towards the goal and then I'd step back. I'm big and I've been told I'm talented, I'm blessed with abilities that most dont (I cringe saying that, but my ego believes what my Father and friends say) and yet I've been so damn lazy. From now on, in order to make sure my dreams become a reality, I will not stop moving foward. My eyes feel awake, and my mind knows what it wants. When I watched the scene where barou is watching the future of others people’s success on tv in sadness, I related so much, watching my friends live the life I wanted to achieve in Fighting Game tournaments. I wanted to make it to top 8 , I wanted to be stronger or even more the strongest. Drowning in pools killed my confidence as I questioned wether if competing in tournaments was cut out for me or not. Watching my character get read left and right or getting “ DEVOURED “ hurt like hell. After realizing this was my only shot and instead of making excuses a loser would make like “ guess I wasn’t strong enough “ , “ oh well I came for the experience “ , “ at least I had fun “ “ that character is just broken “ “ my character is too weak “ I accepted the fact that I did not want to live that life, I did not want to allow myself to lose, I did not want to have to live with Losing. I’m not going to let anyone get in my way of making it to the top of the hill. I’m going to make sure I’m the only King On it. I’ll devour everyone NO MATTER WHAT!

I feel so much more alive than I ever have because I subject myself to the gym, side hustles, cold showers, etc. Would I rather stay in bed, cuddle with my fiance and dogs? I’ve started to rebuild it and use barou as my mental image when I play now reminding myself I can still be the King, I’m starting to feel my awakening set in again and I’m feeling good but no where near where I want to be

I have a lot of goals that I left on table thinking that I can just do them Tmr, thinking it is too hard somebody else smarter can do them easier smarter faster. Touching them little by little and giving myself excuses that I’m too tired from 12hours of work that I deserve some rest. But my goals is truly what will makes me happy. It’s such an important lesson and I hope everyone struggling with their daily life can find their motivation to take their goals into their hands right now right then. I’ll will become the king that I truly fight to earn.

And yet, there are points where it's more important to back off, to reevaluate things and try a new approach. Points where being stubborn and persisting is what ends up doing damage Knowing when to do which - stay the course or reconsider - can prove to be the real tricky part

Thank you. Honestly i love this video and I'm glad it popped up on my recommendations♥️ I love Blue Lock so much, and it's one of the reasons that I keep on following my dreams and never giving up. Legit in the past few days, I was going through a rough time doubting myself and my dreans that I've been following for years now.. I was so close to giving up on my dreams. Everything on my heart was too heavy ... but realizing and seeing how things are. We all reached to a point where we achieved so many, barely anyone can do it. We should be happy we reached this far. We cant give up. how you explained, it gives me comfort and keeps me moving forward. Thank you so much. I hope everyone will achieve their dreams in their heart. One day, we will stand with our dreams coming to reality in front of our eyes and say: "we did it" You have a new subscriber ❤ I'm happy to watch more of your content. ✨️

Making excuses for yourself is something that I've noticed I always did. I'd always come up with reasons not to do something because it was the easy way out. Thankfully I realized what I was doing and I'm trying to get myself out of that habit.

Barou is personal. What’s it mean when you reach a certain level without failure? 9x/10 humans crumble in that moment. Like you and ego said, carving failure into your soul and still moving forward is the greatest human achievement. And we all experience it.
