The Modern Bunker Trend That Tour Pros Use | Film Study | Golf Digest
Спорт
Have you noticed a change in how Tour pros hit bunker shots these days? It looks a little different from the conventional approach that was taught for decades. So what is the technique? Why does it work? Is it better? In this Film Study, Luke Kerr-Dineen breaks down the modern bunker trend and why it's becoming more and more prevalent.

Their bunkers are perfect and totally consistent. The ones we play suck.

For years I've been wanting some coach / youtube channel to do a municipal bunker tutorial It's like hitting out of hard dirt. And after it rains, it's mud 😂

You guys are right, that's the difference between us and pros

@@Tom_Swift for very firm bunkers with less sand, you have to take a wedge with less bounce and get very steep.

@@MarkMyWordsXx it makes a huge difference hitting out of good bunkers, good grass, etc.
My trick to being better in the sand is to play courses that don't have concrete for bunkers.......

I exclusively play courses with concrete bunkers. I don’t recommend it

What strategy do they use to play out of bunkers with no sand in them like we deal with a public courses?

low bounce wedge, or drop your hands / the heel if the wedge which lowers bounce more and allows it to dig. practice it to get the feel of how hard u need to swing for different distances
Cool now tell me how to stop thinning it into the next time zone

Stay committed to the shot! By that I mean keep the body down through the contact with the ball and only release the upper body once you've completely swung through the ball. I release too early to and rush into my follow through to avoid getting stuck too far back and thin it like this as well. Hope this helps!
For the last four years bunker shots have been my best shot. The last 3 weeks it's been my worst. Fn golf man
Just use the toe of the club, keeping the heel or hosel out of the sand. The hosel is what catches the sand. But still use a steep swing, hitting the sand behind the ball. Try it. It works like magic for me.
Thank you, Dan Grieve
This guy spends more time in the sand than David Hasselhoff
This is how I've been playing my bunker shots since I was a kid! Did the same when I played against Collin in high school
Not the whole secret but good advice
Go do a search for Faldo and bunker tips. Pretty much exactly his technique. He's been around a while. New trend, eh?
1:20 Am I the only nerd here that knows exactly which wedge that is?😂

Yes!
Weight forward and keep it there eh. Sounds familiar
I still dont get why I have to open the clubface in the bunker
@marvfj6451

The conventional wisdom is that opening the face helps golfers avoid the club digging into the sand rather than gliding through it. 😊
Try this at your local Course and youll be hitting in 50 yards over the green
Public golf courses have crappy bunkers and there’s no place to practice bunker shots
just hit the slice method, it's easy as. And you dont have to squat low perfectly and look like a fool. Clubs are getting too easy - should have brought in standardisation a long time ago for the pro regarding wedges and lofts.
I aim for bunkers no I never hit them

Is Harry Potters dad commentating?
Bunker is not the most difficult shot. You don't even have to hit the ball. ;)
you can't end the video with a failed high-five like that
Watch Moe Norman hit out of the sand - you will see he had this motion 50 years ago.
Weird to feature him because Colin looks more uncomfortable than most pros in bunkers and chipping

Hit the sand , not the ball.

That’s fine if the bunkers on your course actually have sand. The muni courses many of us play have a thin layer of sandy dirt on top of hardpan. Try playing out of these with an open club face or worse yet a wedge with lots of bounce.
