God this is painful to watch. Not because the music is bad or the performance lacked. Quite the opposite. This takes me back to great days. Best days of my life. Shit happens and we take odd turns here and there and we end up in our fifties looking back wondering where it all went. If only we could go back and relive just one day from back then

By a country mile THE best Tube performance. Sigh, the good old days

The 12 inch has such a banging bass riff. Those were the days when I had a proper house and I could turn it up. Not like nowadays living in a crummy little flat where you can hear a spider fart next door.

Absolutely fucking awesome! i remember seeing this on the tube in the day and my brother and i were dancing in the front room. sister came in and laughed then saw Hussey and fell in love! Ha!

The Bear in Bedford mentioned by Wayne before the start of Wasteland is still my watering hole, many of the fans and some of the original Eskimos in that audience are still my close friends to this day including the former pub landlord. Yesterday a few of us got together to see The Mission again live in Brighton and will do again during the 2022 tour. Very proud to say nothing has changed in over 35 years!

Oh, what a singer! I know them until 1991 and they are still inimitable.

Three of their best songs. The full version of Shelter From The Storm has been uploaded separately. Saw them playing Leeds Elland Road as support to U2 in summer 1987, then twice at Newcastle City Hall in 1988. Brings back how good they were in the day...

This is my favorite live performance of the Mission on KZread.

The Mission UK will always hold a special place in my heart. I saw them 2x back then, April 87 at The Ritz NYC on GOM and on Children too. Amazing band. I wish they'd come back to NYC (I saw the Irving Plaza show a few years ago and it was amazing).

Some girls wander by mistake...Others find a MISSION!!!

The energy in that room is probably something you can't feel nowadays. Truly wish i was born a decade earlier seeing awesome shit like this

you couldn't do that today. Thank fuck i grew up following bands when i did. Great gigs the mission always put on. Remember seeing them in Cardiff 1986? November? Don't think the sister's had been split up that long at the time. Possibly there first tour as the mission.

As a member of "Generation X," I have really come to dislike the overuse of what has become a cliche, "underrated." However, the Mission UK is an overall "underrated" band because they were virtually ignored at the times in comparison to the immense popularity of such rivals as Sisters of Mercy and the Cult. These guys had so much potential but the marketing push was given in other directions.

The best band the surf muisic

The guitar work on this album inspired me and so many others. Not the virtuoso guitar style of so many rock bands from the era like Van Halen, White Snake, Bon Jovi, Scorpions, etc... Mission's guitars were meant to be played upon one another, layered and lush. A symphony of guitar coming at your ears. Other than the one vocal slip, this version of Wasteland sounds BETTER than the recording!

Goths were always good at building human pyramids back in the day. Have to give them respect for that.

Eskimos (the Mission’s touring fans) were an absolute pain in the ass at every gig, pushing people around, falling on people, and generally behaving like complete twats.

They loned tim bricheno from all about eve for this tv show.

Haha remember a few complaints about the audience. The Eskimo's took over the audience. Melody Maker gave the band so much stick because to their following. Saw em a couple of times.....they did mosh a tad harder than most.

Mission were great when they first came out. Wasteland and Serpents kiss my favourites Strong live show, saw them Glasgow QM 86, and twice Barrowlands. Great start but their second album much weaker. List interest. Their hippy 70s rock pretentions put me off them.
