As a Crows fan, good on the Sainters, they never stopped trying. They deserve another flag

St Kilda FOREVER Since 1968

I happen to have the original VHS that is still in good condition despite being almost 20 years old. Valid points about the audio issues, however, this uploaded version is good enough despite the differences. The video certainly brings back memories as I was lucky enough to remember going to Waverley Park prior to the Saints last home game in 1999 against North Melbourne, which I attended. I also still happen to have the home jumpers used in the 1997 and 1998 seasons with the Tooheys and Tooheys Victoria sponsors. Fair to say that I always loved the design even though I like the traditional tri-panel guernsey.

I love this design and I'm not a saints fan. It's unique and iconic. I also prefer the one off design they used in round one this year (2018) which was apparently the original saints jumper. The stripes looked fantastic.

@@mikespearwood3914 I 100% agree with you on those points. I attended that game earlier this year against Brisbane and liked it too. It certainly reminded me of the candy striped clash/away guernsey that the Saints wore between 2004-2006 inspired by the 2003 Heritage Round in Nathan Burke's final game. That is another jumper I identify with my earlier years as a spectator during my childhood. However, the hot-cross bun/crusader jumper I adore the most as that was my first jumper that I received and still have to this day.

Yes, it's a great jumper with the cross because it's so distinctive. You can tell it's St Kilda straight away. Melbourne has a bizaare phenomenon where most of the teams look similar due to wearing majority black or navy blue. The cross jumper incorporated more red as well, which made it even more distinctive. Melbourne changed to the dark navy blue some time in the 80's for some unknown reason, and Collingwood changed to the majority black version (identical to Swan Districts here in WA, who coincidentally won their most recent flags in 1990 and 2010.) for some stupid bloody reason, I think because they looked similar to North Melbourne, where now they look similar to Saints, Dons, Richmond, Carlton and Melbourne. Ironically I struggled more when the Pies played Geelong, albeit I'm watching on tv. The VFL/AFL and Aussie footy comps in general have always been stupid in not doing what soccer does in that the away team has to wear an alternative strip if a clash occurs that is completely distinctive from their normal strip. If this was the case then Collingwood would've kept to their original white majority strip because North Melbourne would wear a completely different alternative jumper...if the VFL/AFL had any brains that is!

They were a great team that year. Can't believe we beat them in the GF. Hope they win their 2nd flag soon.

Loved watching this video, except I don’t know what was more embarrassing, the fact we lost the grand final or Stan getting the boys to sing the saints song at the post Grand final lunch. 😂

Since there's so much compulsive liar comments, i'll just point that out to say something true. How many premierships are you pretending St Kilda has won?

Losing Everitt and Vidovic for the Granny hurt. Stan Alves getting sacked 2 years later was and still is so typically St Kilda. And the club wonders why it's a perennial disappointment

Can’t watch this. The most horrendous embarrassing finish to a season for an embarrassment of a club.

Most teams would bring out a video if they actually won a flag lol. Go the pies😂
