According to Rick Jason, Vic Morrow really didn't like guns, but you would never know b/c his acting was so "real" & his voice was so pleasant to listen to. He just showed a natural compassion that made me want to watch more of him, especially in Combat! The day he was tragically killed brought sadness & a loss that no one else can fill. I'm sure it was very difficult for his family & personal friends. I think some appreciation for his life is in order, especially from his fans. I wish he was in more movies, or maybe, I don't know about some of his work he may have done... Any good news out there? :'(

+ann jones The way he and those two little kids perished absolutely breaks my heart. The girl, Renee Chen, was just 6. She and I would be the same age. The boy was only 7. I have seen the footage and I was nothing short of horrified, shocked, and saddened. Goddamn Landis to Hell.

+ann jones Have you seen the original Bad News Bears movie from 1976? He played a Little League coach. If you've seen it you'll know who he played. If you haven't seen it I'd suggest that you check it out because it was a great film.

Yes. When I found out that I could acquire a companion book to the "combat" series I jumped on it. SO, now I have the complete series and a great source of personal information.

I thought Vic Morrow not only showed natural talent, he portrayed real emotions from the excitement of suddenly becoming wealthy and a sincere love for his "wife".

ann jones James Dean and him were great friends. You can tell the dean influence on him here. Met him once in L.A. Of course he was in a rush but still had time to shake my hand.

I remember watching this show in the '50s. That million bucks was back when gas was 23¢ a gallon. A house was maybe $20,000.

Really good episode of The Millionaire! A young Vic Morrow and a young Tom Laughlin in this one! I don't know much about Judith Braun but I have seen her before in the show Man with a Camera!

There is a possible discrepancy in the number of episodes in the series. Most sources say that there were 206 episodes, but several online sources (who, admittedly could be mistaken) point to an episode (S03E07-The Denny Havens Story) that was originally broadcast on either 17OCT1956 or 24OCT1956. Checking back on the TV sections of various newspapers of that era, I find that there is indeed an unaccounted for "extra" episode of The Millionaire broadcast then, however none of the TV Schedule sources I've found give specifics about which episode it was. As the rest of the time/dates for episodes ARE accounted for, I am very inclined to believe that that Denny Havens episode DID exist, but has slipped through the cracks. When moved into syndication, 16 episodes were kept back ("removed from syndication") and the Denny Havens episode would make a total of 17 "unavailable" episodes. So, unless there is a change in status, there are 190 episodes available. The 17 REMO(removed) episodes are: S01E02 S02E13 S03E07 S04E09 S05E14 S06E25 S02E26 S03E28 S04E11 S05E21 S06E27 S04E24 S05E24 S06E33 S04E28 S05E33 S04E30

Morrow here seems almost like a blend of the Rod Steiger/Brando styles in Waterfront. His haircut as well as many of his mannerisms are similar to Brando, his speech intonations are fairly similar to Stieger's. Waterfront came out the year before. This was only Morrow's second role, after the film role in Blackboard Jungle. The coif also evokes Brnado's coifs in Julius Caeser and Desiree. .This series in some ways reminds me of Spielberg's Amazing Stories series, which really have meandering plots centered loosely around a theme, in the one case fantasy, in the other case, well, fantasy again (the fantasy of having a lot of money). Which brings up another issue: how inflation has changed the power of a million dollars. Morrow's character speaks of buying many hospitals! Today a million dollars might fund a rich life for a year or two, maybe even less. There's a bit of trivia I'm not sure was ever covered in the series.Once married, the millionaire can reveal the background of his money to his wife (a necessary detail in that still family-oriented era); but what if the wife exposed the secret?
