I never get it how people like him can’t be thankful. I do not have a job rn, I live with my parents, and they help pay for gas. I’m also 20 but it’s kinda normal for my gen to be at home still. The thing is that I understand how lucky I am. Recently I bumped someone’s car and felt like shit but I also was raised to take responsibility so I walked in and told the person and felt like shit but knew I was doing the right thing. Luckily the person was kind and could see the absolute guilt I felt. My parents were understanding as I was mid panic attack snd it’s my first accident in my life and I took full responsibility as it was my fault.

so the answer is murdering the mansion's owner, is that the solution? his frustration has nothing to do with the mansion or the owner of the mansion, in fact he was given money and well accepted in the house. his unhappiness is his alone his choice to be unhappy because of ego. i have a family member who's like that.bad character, having huge sense of entitlement to anything and anyone he wants, he wants the house that belongs to my mother. He had taken the other family house and gambled it, the family had to bail him out and took him under my eldest sister's wing, giving him beautiful place to live but still he wanted the house that belongs to my mother. Didnt care if I and my mom had to live in the street. Initially the entire family backed him because cunningly he twisted the entire story as if I was the greedy one. but now he is sick very sick physically totally bedridden, the truth start to emerge. Lucky back then it didnt escalade up to murdering me and my mom.

If Richard was sooo horrible, why did he move back home in his 30’s? He’s a grown man. There is also zero account of Richard being abusive. Up until this, I had actually not heard of Sir Richard Sutton which shows he led a pretty quiet and dignified life as you usually hear at least something in the wonderful British tabloids at some point, if you get my meaning. Its amazing how some children grow up and still cannot see that their parents are entitled to their own lives and happiness . Instead of his Mum and Sir Richard being an inspiration of how you can find companionship and love at any age and after a marriage break down, Thomas would rather his Mother stay in a loveless and dangerous marriage with his Father. I am so glad he was stopped from killing himself at any point through the arrest and trial so he can be in a real prison and maybe one day realize the other prison he talked of being in, was an illusion. Also the other inmates won't have time for his BS either. Thanks Adrian for a great piece.

I know Thomas has his faults, but I don't think people understand totally how devastating divorce is on kids, especially if there's infidelity. Thomas suspects, his mom was having some kind of questionable relationship with Richard before his own marriage broke down, which probably led to the failure of Thomas s parents marriage. Thomas I believe, blames Richard for his broken home, father's death and the fact, his mom took up with Richard while his dad was alive. Thomas must have had long conversations with his dad and knew how humiliated he was to be offered the opportunity to live on the same property with the man who was sleeping with his ex-wife. I believe, as the only son, Thomas was loyal to his dad, however flawed he was. Thomas probably saw his dad as a hero, one who served his country, while Richard got everything handed to him on a sliver platter. Thomas resented Richard for his influence, wealth over his family, as well as the fact, he Thomas, was never able to become successful enough to distance himself from Richard, or prove he didn't need him. Richard in Thomas's eyes was evil, as he seems to think he can buy his way out of everything, he demonstrated this by trying to give Thomas's dad a home, (in order to keep the man's ex-wife) give money to Thomas, and I'm sure he did the same to Thomass sisters and mother. Even if Ricard was genuinely kind, Thomas would always see him as the man who wrecked his home with his wealth and influence. I feel there is more to this story, it's highly possible, Thomas's mom, was attracted to Richard throughout her marriage, Thomas's dad probably suspected it, and his helplessness as a poor man, made him drink resulting in the destruction of his marriage, I am highly sceptic that Richard and Thomas's mom got together innocently only after Richards divorce. Thomas probably has evidence to prove, they were involved prior to Richards divorce, which might explain the anger and violence towards his mom, notice how he never showed any such behaviour to his dad. Children often become hostile to parents whom have committed infidelity, they suddenly change from being happy go lucky, to resentful, destructive, disrespectful and violent. Thomas's behaviour was not about money, if it was, he would not have made every effort to move away the first opportunity he got, he opted to attend school in a foreign country to when he was a teen, he then moved to Australia on the other side of the world, this is not the behaviour of someone who wants Richards money, I believe he's genuinely hurt over the betrayal of his mom to hook up with Richard and this probably accelerated the death of his dad, Thomas hated his mom for being with Richard and not his Dad. All these resentments eventually fused themselves into uncontrollable rage then murder.

This was tough to hear about. Imagine being 82 years old, wealthy and someone you’ve cared for murders you for ridiculous reasons. There’s absolutely no justification for what he did to an elderly, defenceless man and to his own mother. Even in his voicemails he didn’t show any remorse for what he did. The fact that he transferred money to his ex and asked her to meet him shows that he was coherent enough at that point. There’s something so cowardly about hurting an old person or a child when you know they can’t defend themselves. They should have kicked him out and hired security for their protection.

When it comes to ‘rage’, it’s vital to step aside, or back off, as rage is unreasonable. There is no point in trying to bring normality into the situation. I know, because I grew up with it. The only way to a) stay sane, and b) to avoid physical harm, is to stay calm, don’t speak, and quietly remove yourself to safety! The unpredictability of it is frightening, but you can survive by being neutral.
