You would have known that Calico Jack was arrested and sentenced to death on Jamaica though, that William Kidd was already long dead by 1718, and that Black Bart was killed off West Africa (admittedly not in the way the game tells it), so you'd have been able to work it out.

@@ploopploopploopboop1887 Ummm, it is absolutely life changing.... While it may not be real love, you can at least attract gold diggers if you were lonely and poor previously, and there are plenty of things that are so expensive to do that "saving" for them is just unreasonable for most income levels. Sure, you can start a company with a loan, but that comes with lots of stress, responsibility and the catch of having to take someone else's opinion into consideration when making company decisions. Winning $1 million or even just six figures in $ may not be a guarantee to bring you long lasting *happiness*, but if spent wisely it can certainly be a shortcut to that goal. Life is complicated and messy, and money can act as a cushion for misfortune. $1 million is a large cushion, no matter where you live or how you look at it, even considering the effect of inflation on that prize amount since the show's inception.

@@rjfaber1991 I'd say about half of the American Millionaire winners were able to mostly keep their cool after winning the million, with maybe just a arm flail, smile, or a hug to their loved one being the only reactions they had. There's only about 3 or 4 that went totally crazy after they won. I'd say the coolest one was the first of the three Meredith Vieira era winners, where the old man basically just nodded and looked at the confetti come down, and then asked to call his mother.

The only quiz show where a contestant can go away with half a million quid and still feel a hint of disappointment.😆 On another day and on another show that rhymes with bointless he could've left with a grand and felt zero disappointment. It's human nature but you have to keep telling yourself that you didn't lose anything that you did not have in the first place. I would love to go on the show and win even a few grand but I doubt I would get past fastest finger.
