The Million-Dollar Hacker
Tommy DeVoss used to break into websites illicitly. But after serving time for his crimes, he now uses his skills to earn an honest living. Through arrangements known as bug bounty programs, companies pay him to find security holes in their systems. He’s now earned more than $1 million in this emerging profession. This is an episode of Next Jobs, a mini-documentary series about careers of the future hosted by Bloomberg Technology’s Aki Ito.
Video by Victoria Blackburne-Daniell, David Nicholson, Henry Baker

what's amazing is he went to prison for so long and didn't lose his hacking skills
"I want her to be a hacker, but mom wants here to be a dancer"
This was very wholesome! I enjoyed hearing his story.

Justin ? White hat black hat is language to define if it’s legal or illegal. Better terminology for what you’re thinking would be either white box, grey box, or black box. The type of box is the type of info a white hat pen tester has to work with. White box has everything that needs to be known, grey box has something’s that are to be known, and black box has nothing.

"$1million dollars" averages out to about "$600 thousand" after taxes... the living with his mom and sinking close to $200thousand into cars, doesn't give me confidence in his money management skills. But hell, it's his own money; just hope he's thinking about his future

buying a house to live in it is like the worst financial advice you can give imo. rather buy a house to live in it with other people so you actually get an income from it or just put it up for rent straight away.
