"The Midnight Tide" | HAUNTING PIANO | Luke Faulkner

Музыка

I sat down at the piano with microphones switched on and played some notes. You are currently listening to those notes - I think this one is quite haunting, but let me know what you think in the comments!

I listen to classical music when writing or studying, every time this song comes up I have to stop what I'm doing. I'm transported to a mysterious forest of dark shadowy trees, where woodland nymphs dance in a lament to some fallen goddess. This piece is hauntingly perfect.😍🤩🤯💕

A truly atmospheric, captivating composition. If these are notes which improvisationally escaped from that Davy Jones' locker in your exceptionally creative mind (and I am not implying that the theme is essentially nautical!), I hope there are many more where these came from. . . This work fits right in - so beautifully - with your other Improvisations 1-5, Luke. It seems as if improvisation is indeed your forte. And certainly not taking anything away from your most inspired and as hauntingly beautiful "other" creations. I'm still trying to compile a Top Ten list of these but it remains a challenge as the top three change weekly 💘. Can musical notes be stored in fingers and summoned up on command ? Just asking - for a friend, ha ha. Congratulations on an aptly named "haunting" creation. Simply adore the photographic illustration, the nostalgia it embraces - and projects - takes me back to my grandparents' sheep farm in the Karoo when I was very young but instead of a piano it was the most beautiful little pump organ embedded in an ornate wooden structure, which my late grandma played evenings after supper (no electricity, just candlelabras) with much enthusiasm and showmanship - and very little mastery, bless her generous old heart. Liked the rather unique touch at the end of the video . . . PS. Thank you for your informative, entertaining reply to my last comment after "Piano Improvisations". Trust you found the memorable Ommadawn as riveting as I did. Have you started those piano lessons yet ? Look after yourself this cold winter and keep well damn it.

Thanks, Danie - I certainly do love to Improvise! Never know quite what'll materialise. Haha, you write the kindest things - very flattered re. the Top Ten list! Yeah, I was rather taken with this photo when I first came across it. Hence I got in touch with the photographer to see if I could license it from him for this upload (then had some minor animations added). Rather pleased with the result. Loved the tale of your grandmother and the pump organ. There's an old pump organ in a church just outside Oxford that I'd visit from time to time. Makes a charming sound! I certainly did enjoy Ommadawn, thanks! Always a treat to discover something new and colourful - thanks again for the suggestion. You take care too, Danie!
