Never knew you did part 2. Interesting. Plus those Class 222 Meridians are very fast and smooth.

When Virgin made the Manchester run to expensive the St Pancras to Manchester briefly became a cheaper option. Running old Midland railway metals.

Another great video. Great summary of these servants to the Midland Railway. Not sure what the connection to Beeching is ?

Thanks Andrew for the lovely comment. Dr Beeching doesn't really feature in this part of the video, and I don't think he'll appear in part 3 either. The Beeching connection is for the whole array of films in the portfolio, investigating the closures, many of which are attributed to Dr Beeching's plan.

please stop calling it beeching......it was labour folly ( as per norm) Labour closed more miles then beeching reported on , Labour closed all the lines and even gave beeching an award

Thanks for your comments Bob. 'Beechings Ghosts' is more about the series of videos rather than any particular claim that he was to blame. There's loads of different variables and amongst the Prime Minister, the transport minister, and other forces at work, such as the press, the oil industry and the inability for steam locos to be available from cold start up, I don't think we'll ever get to a singularity point of blame. But for want of a better name and being easy to find, the series of videos needs to keep its name.
