I have MGD, yet my glands are open (no obstruction), and they aren't clogged. The oil isn't thick, it's thin like it should be. My glands are there, and they look good. I've tried almost everything that was recommended (in office, and out of office), but nothing has helped with my dry eyes. I'm very upset that I had Lipiflo done, because it made my dry eyes worse. I believe it did some damage to my glands, because my oil layer kept going down and ended up in the 30s. It was in the low 50s before having it done. Why it was recommended I don't know, seeing my glands aren't even clogged and the oil isn't even thick. I don't have rosacea, blepharitis, sjogren's, or aqueous deficiency. Every doctor I've seen says my eyes look healthy, with no staining. My dry eyes makes no sense. How I feel, and what they see don't match up. My case seems to be a mystery, so they have no idea how to help me. I'm stuck having to live this way because nothing has helped, and the doctors don't know what else to do😢

My friend had a similar problem to yours. She said that manuka honey eye drops was the only thing that resolved her issue. She still doesn't know what her issue is though 😅

Why do you say you have MGD, if your glands are fine? Has anyone checked if the mucin layer of the tear film is OK? (seeing as all layers of the tear film are important...)

I already use IPL (ALMA OptiClear) to liquefy the meibomian glands. Especially since I experience a lower effect on the upper eyelid, I am looking into how to supplement our treatments to improve the treatment effect. I am inquisitive about the LLLT masks, but I also consider Blephasteam2. Marc & Derek: - Have you compared the effects of these two devices with the TearClear device? - If you want to combine IPL & TearClear, In what order would you treat?

You get a better outcomes if you express after IPL but IPL itself doesn’t increase temp much. It coagulates, neuromodulates, is microbicidal, and biomodulates. It’s best to do MGX with a ilux, Lipiflow, tearcare after the 4th treatment of IPL but I would still try MGX after each of the first 3 sessions manually in the slot lamp. Debride before. LLLT away from the skin only adds 1-2 more J’s of energy and the papers that show its efficacy are from the companies. Watch some of the Toyos videos. He invented IPL for dry eye. His view is that LLLT after IPL doesn’t really do much.

Are there research teams looking into a cure? I’m a 30yr old male and have meibomian gland dysfunction and blepharitis. I believe it’s been caused by my use of accutane & Tretinoin .05% cream. I’m incredibly angry at the medical systems for allowing this drug to be on the market. An insecure teenager with pimples shouldn’t be responsible for this decision. This is a life impacting disease that needs to be taken seriously.

I have chronic seborrhoea scalp dermatitis which I believe I have transferred to my eyelids causing my chronic dry eye. Is there a specific treatment for this. I also had a fungal scalp problem. Can that have affected my eyelids ?

This just a Tear Care ad in disguise... I have nothing against Tear Care, but the two presenting doctors definitely seem too bia$ed.
