@@justgeekythings5218 very different shows, one turns out to be a comedy, the other one pushes more to drama, very different characters and the show itself have little things in common but the fact that memory is the strong suit of both main characters and observational/deduction skills

I loved both of them for separate reasons, but The Mentalist has really grabbed me with it's writing and pacing. I'm in Season 6 now and the colors are back. The one thing that I've always wondered is... Who is Patrick Jane? He no longer has to hide or mask his intent... so I wonder if we'll ever see the real him.

It's a brilliant show!

Most males start with rock and when being aggressive stays with rock then tries to switch it up with paper thinking you will go with rock but Jane instead went with sissors

More than that, the woman's smile (Teresa Lisbon) was somewhat shy. Later on it's obvious that she was attracted to Patrick Jane, the won winning the rock-paper-scissors game, and we can see that she was proud of him. It was the smile of someone proud of their partner.

Ik this is old but still wanna try this: the guy is at a crime scene(probably a small rural town, and he talking to a local police officer (probably sheriff) and that officer asked for a demonstration to which the mentalist dude agrees using rock paper scissors as the demonstration and the sheriff is baffled as the mentalist guy correctly beats him every time

All I see is Patrick Jane absolutely demolishing a police man in rock paper Scissors

Well in this video the mentalist is in control and he knows that the officer is very defensive and is trying to hide something. The mentalist has brought down his confidence when he won for the first time. The attention of the officer was of his and he has full control over the situation

i saw a long blink from the sherif i can't realy tell if it means his unhapy with something or just the wind, then the sherif spread his hands when he first ost in a gesture i don't really know what it means, i also saw slight disgust when he kept loosing, his teeth became visible. please correct me if I'm wrong (this is the first clip)

The blonde guy has it figured out and just keeps smiling in victory, as to the officer he is getting annoyed and slightly amazed at it and is starting to wonder how he does it. Each time the camera shows the blonde who is staring straight at the officer, suggesting that there is no cheating by looking at the hands. As it switches back to the officer, he is also shuffling on his feet signaling that he's intrigued/annoyed. His facial expression is also showing said emotions. Now, I know I had to have gotten something wrong so forgive me if I did...

I missed the beginning and decided not to pay attention to the co-workers in the background. I was also wrong on a number of things, such as the cockiness and being intrigued. Thanks for the exercise! I'll take notes!

In Fact it is more strange if you know who this person is. He should be smart enough to win at least one time. But it think he's playing Patrick while Patrick thinks he's playing him.. When you see it like that that "Sheriff" is just amazing in controlling his bodylanguage.. o.O

Red john was never smart at all .. he just had protection and people doing a lot of shit for him while jane was fighting him alone

Sorry for the Late question on an old video. Is this truly accurate and is doing the exercise with film clips accurate? In the show, all of the actors (by definition of acting) are pretending to be other people. And to further complicate the scene, two of them are obfuscating their "real" personas as much as possible.

I was going to ask exactly the same. I've personally been watching reality tv shows, either muted or in a foreign language. I suspect with a show like The Mentalist the body language is present and accurate to help the audience see what Patrick Jane sees. Although I still find it hard to get a baseline for an actors micro expressions. Has anyone got any views on this? Thanks in advance.

He is standing upright, staring directly into the policeman’s eyes and kind of squinting his eyes. He’s probably trying to give off the impression he’s a smart or knowledgeable person. Maybe he’s trying to trick the guy into thinking that he’s a psychic. It seems that they’re in the middle of the road just standing there, so i think policeman has stopped them because they were going too fast or something and he is trying get out of that situation

Mentalist and Sherlock homes are best. Does anyone know other shows
