As I am in the USA I have no idea what this vehicle is. It reminds me of the VW Thing that we had in the 70s. I love your projects and admire your passion. Keep up the great work. Your videos make my day

For the Mehari, they shared the 2CV engine of 28 horses (later upped a couple of times to 28.5 and 29), I think (not 100% sure, it's the 2CV that holds my desires!!!) the 32 horsepower is only really on the Dyane and Ami versions of the 602cc engines, higher compression ratio of 9:1 (versus 8.5:1 on the 2CV version) and at least in the Dyane, a "mild turbocharging" with air being kind of forced into the airfilter box via the fan cowling, though that's probably just a fart-in-a-jacuzzi kind of power boost... :P

Great video! Such an iconic car, as is the Lancia, the Princess and the Trabant...love them all.

Treat a Mehari like a gold plated unicorn - they are that rare - you let one slip your grasp do not repeat that mistake.... You can get that twin boxer bored out to 720cc ( see YT vids - HubNuts vid is great ) boy thats amazing power for the package

You probably already know this, but the chassis always breaks where the front axle is mounted. You'd be wise to open up and take a look there. As you mentioned, the chassis rusts from the inside out and in my experience the earlier chassis are much better for rust than the later ones from the 80s. Your car looks to be from the 70s with the front drum brakes, so you might be in luck.

yes this is one of the old chassis which is alot stronger... so it could be better then a new one if its healthy enough... :)

Jeg lovede mig selv ikke at kikke... jeg er dårlig til fristelser.... men så kikkede jeg.... Den er spændende den 2cv derinde!

Har ladet mig fortælle, at Méharien har samme gearkasse som den fra 2CV kassevognen (AK 350), der er bygget på samme chassis. Forskellen skulle være, at den er en smule lavere gearet, så den har lidt mere bundtræk og dermed også en lavere topfart end en standard 2CV med 29 HK. Motorydelsen skulle derfor også være reduceret en smule til omkring 28-28,5 HK. Det giver jo egentlig meget god mening, når den er bygget mere til knoldede markveje og offroad, fremfor landevej. Ved du om det har noget på sig?

Jeg tror du har ret ang gearkassen... har selv hørt tilsvarende.. men er ikke sikker. 2cv´en er jo også ifl "sagnet" designet til offroad eller ihvertfald pløjemarker... og det gør den altså rigtig godt! :)

Looks likely the chassis in good nik so that's a big bonus, do you think you will upgrade the engine to 700cc.

I think I will keep the current engine to keep the costs down a bit.... And as i remember my last Mehari... you dont need more power really... :)
