The Mazda Tribute is a car that can do anything, except being fast.

In this video, I take an in-depth look at a 2006 Mazda Tribute, a car that can go anywhere, do anything, except very slowly. Other than the few random videos i have made with my BMW E46 325i, this is the first car video/review I have made, and I hope to make more in the future, especially on my e46. this is also the first video I have made that I wrote a script for, and recorded audio separately, using a second iPhone. Hope you all enjoy.
This is my Friend's car and not my car, they let me borrow It a lot.

Practical vehicle. Useful. I see one that's a pristine white Ford Tribute. Yes, that's the badge. Interesting! The rear seat truly provides a FLAT cargo floor! Many SUVs are so cramped that their cargo space is basically the equivalent of a sedan trunk, or there is too much sh*t in the way (rear seat crap cupholders), or bulky seats that never fold flat.

Have a 2004 3.0, climbs like a mountain goat. These are known for premature catalytic converter failure, which will cause low power output. Also keep an eye on that transfer case oil, as it's right next to a red-hot cat and doesn't hold much lube.

We have a 2006 2.3L 4 cylinder automatic FWD. It's been through blizzards, hauled literal tons of rusty steel, and only needed an alternator, idler pulley, and control arm refresh (aside from the normal consumables of course). Speedy no- reliable on back roads- absolutely. Only get 23 mpg on a good day but that's not terrible for a small truck/camper. Oh yeah, the headliner fabric is now sagging but a few spiral pins hold it in place pretty good.

Just got a 2006 Tribute S (denotes the V6 in the North American market at least) for $1600 USD with ~130,000 miles on it as a daily beater and an emergency stop-gap replacement for my close-to-death old 2002 Focus that had obvious valve issues and it ran rich which I could never seem to solve even after replacing the injectors and as many sensors as I could think of. Scrapped that turd and recouped almost 1/3 the cost of the Tribute! As far as the tribute goes, I basically stole it for what I paid in today's market, and after fixing the only major issue which was the one rear shock mount in the wheel well busting loose with new sheet metal, its solid. I really like it and even though I got it to be a beater daily and a stop-gap car, I will keep it as long as possible and if it last me a few more years I will have by FAR gotten my money's worth. Plus with the fact that I was just able to drop the equivalent amount of money in cash in full one might pay for a Macbook or something, and I have no payments on it and it's cheap to insure, I have a bit of extra dough to do some fun stuff to it, as I'm currently working on upgrading the sound system. Already have an aftermarket Kenwood double-din deck in it and have a small powered subwoofer in the mail 👍 I'll run the wheels off of it and maybe by the time I'm ready to move on from it the used car market and crazy loan interest will have settled down a bit and I can get something a little newer and with more bells and whistles. Maybe I'll even stick with Mazda and go with a few year old CX-5, they seem to get stellar reviews from owners and I love Mazda's recent design language.

They are amazing cars. They can go absolutely anywhere and do anything as I have found with this one, I need to make a one year owner ship report. Thing to watch out for is cooling system, they like to blow head gaskets when overheated even slightly, and I have found they run quite hot. I replaced all the plastic components on my one.

I have a manual 5 speed 2wd tribute I believe 2005. I adore it but I think the timing chain went out and need it fixed. We sleep in the back often. We completely remove the seat portion in the back, it's really easy. We've gone back and forth across the US several times and off grid camping all over. It can actually take off pretty well! It handles great. BE CAREFUL if you use a roof bag. This car is a bit tippy if too tall. The AC definitely pulls power away from the car.

With tributes and escapes, I genuinely don’t go for the v6s because of the fuel economy, the v6s are quite thirsty. The 4cyls not as much. and also they aren’t that easy to work on compared to the 4 cylinders. The 01-05 4cyls were a 2.0 with a timing belt, 06-12 were the 2.3 with a chain, so I’d go for a 2.3.
