carpenter for 14 years here. some of these are simple and easy repeatable things you'll often find are done on the fly. many of these are kinda dangerous, unreliable and wouldnt advise doing. whether it be small things like putting a screw in the chuck of a drill rather than using a real cheap tap instead [that usually costs the same as a pack of screws but lasts you years], or simply using the wrong materials for the job, filling out loose screw holes with more screws, using raw edges for home use like opening a bottle you're about to drink from, or putting drills in vices rather than just making a reusable jig for it [i find it funny the man goes through lengths to make a brick clamp from old tools but cant screw some pieces of plywood together for a jig] tl,dr: convenience is something you can easily achieve without risking yourself.

You are absolutely right. Good god, a simple freaking nail can be used as a scribe. A 18" magnetic tool strip costs $2.00 at harbor freight. A 18" magnetic pick up tools with 2 pivots for $3.79. My time is more valuable than to spend it making simple tools I can buy for next to nothing.

Usually I just roll my eyes but using a cut off wheel as a sanding disc is an awesome way to end up in the hospital. Completely irresponsible to promote as a good idea. As a side note, why you’d have to glue sandpaper to the abrasive disc in the first place makes zero sense

Great video, but the first one doesn't work for me. Steel is an expensive material that people only buy when they need strength. To join steel together with wood screws is absurd. If it doesn't need to be strong then why would someone not simply use wood which is way cheaper?

  • @carcasscruncher9354

I think that was just to hold it in place to weld it but they sell angle clamps for that purpose. Plus the wood would hold moisture and eventually rot the metal via rust. But in a pinch ....lol
