The Master Has Need of It - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon

In the Palm Sunday Gospel reading proclaimed before the procession, the Lord instructs two of his disciples to go into the village and untether a donkey. If there is any protest, they are to say, “The Master has need of it.” This is true of every baptized person: the Master has need of your gifts, of you, of the whole of your life. Once we understand this principle, everything is revolutionized-and we are liberated to be of service to Christ and his people.

I just came home after spending a week with Franciscan nuns. It was amazing to see how they used their gifts for God. Even though most were quite advanced in age. It really made me think how I could use my talents for God... I've been blessed with a lot of things, I really need to start to give back. The master has need of this little donkey. Thank you! I'll keep it in my mind!

One of the Best Palm Sunday Homilies I've heard. Using whatever gifts you've got to Glorify God. I believe Shakespeare encouraged more positive outlooks and ideas about Christianity as a playwrite than if, say, he has decided to be a Priest. And for those ...not bright individuals who say Shakespeare wasn't a Christian: 1) in my 4 decades of studying his plays, the Bard's true beliefs are all over those plays 2) a famous,.highly respected English Historian of Elizabethan England- AL Rowse- counted Shakespeare quoting 40 different Books of the Bible. Something to ponder...

I often ask God to show me how to recognize His Will so I can follow it. Upon hearing you speak Bishop I realize, being good with people and work at a cutting counter, I’ve been evangelizing and my customers seem to compliment what I say. God truly works in mysterious ways. I hear you my Lord and Savior 🙏❤️🙏

I am so very grateful to Bishop Barron for reminding me of the best and most inspiring sermon I ever heard in my life which prompted a career change, I was already a Nurse but it inspired me to find a way to do more, I especially like the image of the donkey colt as the epitome of the humble servant which we all aspire to be. God Bless us one and all❤️

Andrew De Bill ( Brother Andrew) told this story in one of his books. He was working in Palestine and Israel, and had several young Muslim men who were converted and worked with him to help spread the gospel. One who was a co leader of a group of Hamas specially was very brave and vocal about his new faith to his companions. One day, he was lured into a shed, and his co partner, and best friend pulled a knife, and told him he was going to be killed if he did not renounce his belief in Jesus Christ. The young man refused, and his leader, and very best friend pulled out a knife and plunged it into the young man's stomach As he did, and the young man was dying, he looked into his friend's eyes, and said "Jesus loves you too you know ! "... This ultimate act so affected the leader that he too became a lover of Christ, and eventually escaped through an underground network to the USA. He never forgot his friend, who died at his hand for standing fast with Jesus. The young man died for Jesus, not because of his courage in the face of adversity.
