It is such a shame that even on this guitar costing in excess of 4000 euros Martin continue to use PLASTIC for the binding, and bridge pins. These details cheapen and ruin the whole guitar. I have an OM-18 GE with wood binding and bone pins, so much classier.

  • @mragunathan1627

binding is a pretty functional part of the guitar, plastic wont warp from humidity changes like how wood does. Considering the role it plays in the structural integrity of the guitar, plastic is really the best material after ivory. For the bridge pins, i totally agree with you. For what these things cost RRP, they should be coming with atleast bone pins or something like Mammoth ivory or Tusq.

I agree about the bridge pins; they really should be bone for this price. As for the binding, I'm pretty sure Martin's been using similar materials since the early 1900s. It's always been some type of synthetic material whether it's ivoroid, plastic, or celluloid. Martin doesn't really do wood binding much, save for the new Modern Deluxe series.
