I grew up on the Playmates versions. Something to note was that some of the early batch of Playmates figures had hard solid heads and later went to hollow plastic heads that could squish together. By the time the toy line changed to the cartoon look, I wasn't into playing with them and felt the new design just looked stupid.
I miss Suine Hallock. His videos were always great.
Dear god, those toon turtles look like something out of the nightmares of the guy behind Wallace and Gromit.

Anakayla Picazo it's called an opinion dumbass
That toon Leo has one hell of a scarey look on his face!
I remember finally getting all 4 of those movie star Turtles figures and being stoked. That was basically the height of my fascination with them as a kid, I remember everything going downhill from there. It was perfect timing for me though, as I was getting into my teenage years around that time. I still wonder what ever happened to my vast TMNT figure collection, I had so many...
I am so glad I grew up with these times. Being a kid in the 90's is much better than being a kid nowadays. Everyone uses their cell phones rather than playing outdoors.
So much nostalgia in one video

This video brings back so many memories. So much nostalgia in this video. I remember watching this like 7-8 years ago. Simpler times
The first figures and the Turtles in Disguise figures were my favorite.
way back then, i rememberi had 3 of the 4 toon turtles, i think 2 of the classic 88 figures (donnie and i think raph), toon shredder, a transformer style fireman leo (who morphed into a fire truck), transmuation bebop (can change between a not so show accurate human thug to his familiar warthog self), and i think a prehistoric donnie figure that came with a t-rex. honestly never thought the 87 series had that many figures and variants.
The he-man sword stood there, lying on the ground to this day.
I just binged and bought a ton of TMNT at more than they are "worth"......best feeling I have had since Christmas 88!!! Who cares, no dollar on nostalgia and that feeling for me! Even if you can't afford the "carded" and mint condition because of your financial circumstances....PICK SOME UP AND RELIVE YOUR CHILDHOOD
The Fab Four is a nickname for the beatles. In the music video for the song "Rain" they all were glasses with the turtles colours. John- Red glasses- Raphael Paul- Orange glasses- Mikey George- Blue glasses- Leo Ringo- purple glasses- Don
Man watching these reviews brings back a lot of Nostalgia for me. Can't believe it's been almost *Ten years* since this video came out. 😊😁 💙💜❤️🧡🐢
The Toon Turtle sculpts looked great but they killed them with the action features-Leonardo especially. I also wish they had given them the brown shells, belts and matching skin tones to give them the full cartoon look. That wouldn't have been a big deal though as long as they were just regular articulated figures without the 'toon action'. Sadly by the time they were released I was fully obsessed with wrestling figures and had put the Turtles on the back burner-I never got to add them to my collection.
I swear the figures for the next mutation look better than the actual show
The late 80's series is my favourite. Remember going to toy store and watching them. I had regular Rafael and Leonardo, Rafael that spun on his shell, Donatello as detective, Michelangelo as surfer, Ray Fillet and Usagi Yojimbo.
You should do updated versions of these videos.

Throughout the 1990s, Ninja Turtle action figures would run an extensive gauntlet of different themes and incarnations. Whereas Batman may have become known for hundreds of gadget-wielding action figures, just as well, the Ninja Turtles would become synonymous with dozens of historical and pop culture related embodiments. Varying concepts and toy trends resulted in the many examples shown below. Basic series figures taking on various looks; Leo, the Sewer Samurai, Don, the Undercover Turtle, Mike, the Sewer Surfer, and Raph, the Space Cadet. (1990) Also released with the basic line were the four turtles with Storage Shell. Each action figure had an opening back shell which could store the various accessories each figure was packaged with. Donatello would be released in 1990 and the remaining three the following year. Wacky Action Figures - (1990) Mutant Military - Different forms of military - Lieutenant Leo, Pro Pilot Don, Midshipman Mike, and Raph, the Green Teen Beret. (1991) Rock'n Rollin' - Vibrant musical gimmicks; Classic Rocker Leo, Punker Don, Rappin' Mike, and Heavy metal Raph. (1991) Sewer Sports All-Stars - Sport-themed figures with action features; Among others, T.D. Tossin' Leo, Slam Dunkin' Don, Shell Slammin' Mike, and Grand Slammin' Raph. (1991) Talkin' Turtles - the world's first Talkin' Ninja Turtles; Talkin' Leonardo, Talkin' Raphael, Talkin' Michaelangelo, and Taklin' Donatello. (1991) Head Droppin' Turtles - Head Droppin' Leo, Raphael, Michaelangelo, and Donatello. (1991) Turtle Game Figures - Track 'n Field Leo, Hot Doggin' Mike, Super-Swimmin' Raph, and Powerliftin' Don (1992) Smash'Em Bash'Em Turtles - Kowabunga Kickboxin' Leo, Karate Choppin' Mike, (1992) Movie Star Turtles - Movie Star Don, Movie Star Mike, Movie Star Leo, and Movie Star Raph (1992) Sewer Spitting Turtles - Lifeguard Leo, Spike 'N Volley Don, Sewer-cyclin' Raph, and Beachcombin' Mike (1992) Bodacious Birthday Turtles - (1992) Mutant Military 2 - Different forms of military - Kookie Kavarly Leo, Delta Team Don, Navy Seal Mike, and Raph, the Yankee Doodle. (1992) Wacky Wild West - The Ninja Turtles taking on the Old West; Chief Leo, Crazy Cowboy Don, Bandito-Bashin' Mike, and Sewer Scout Raph. (1992) Cave-Turtles - Stone Age "Collectible Turtle Combo" boxsets; Among others, Leo and his Dingy Dino, Don and his Trippy Tyrannosaurus, Mike and his Silly Stegosaurus, and Raph and his Tubular Pterodactyl. (1992-'93) Sewer Heroes Turtles - (1993) Turtle Trolls - A take on the early 1990s troll doll craze; Leo, Don, Mike, and Raph featuring tall, synthetic hair and childlike appearances. (1993) Universal Studios Monsters - Classic monster-themed figures; Among others, Leo as the Wolfman, Don as Dracula, Mike as Frankenstein's monster, Raph as the Mummy, and Bride of Frankenstein April. (1993-'94) Ninja Action Turtles - Somersault Samurai Leo, Black Belt Mike, Jump Attack Raph, and Cartwheelin' Karate Don (1993) Giant Movie Star Turtles - (1993) Shogun Ninja Turtles - Shogun Mike, Shogun Leo, Shogun Raph, and Shogun Don (1994) Undercover Turtles - Undercover Don, Undercover Mike, Undercover Raph, and Undercover Leo (1994) Apollo 11 Turtles - Touchdown Don, Retro Rocket Raph, Lunar Leo, and Moon Landin' Mike (1994) Warriors of the Forgotten Sewer - Dwarf Don, Barbarian Leo (1994) Pizza Tossin' Turtles - (1994) Kung-Fun TMNT Tournament Fighters Turtles - Kung-Fu Don, Kung-Fu Mike, and Kung-Fu Raph (1994) Cyber Samurai Turtles - (1994) Star Trek - A crossover due to Playmates' owning both Star Trek and TMNT licenses; Captain Leonardo, First Officer (Star Trek) Don, Chief Engineer Michelangelo, and Chief Medical Officer Raphael. (1994) Adventurers - Figures dressed for adventuring; Deep Sea Diver Leonardo, Arctic Donatello, and Safari Michelangelo. (1995) Jim Lee's TMNT - Majorly restyled Ninja Turtle figures based on the designs of famous comic book artist Jim Lee. (1995) Sumo Turtle - Sumo Mike and Sump Raph (1995) TMNT Supermutants - Supermutant Raph, Supermutant Mike, Supermutant Leo, and Supermutant Don (1995) Metal Mutants - Don with Spirit Armor, Raph with Phoenix Spirit Armor, Mike with Beetle Spirit Armor, and Leo with Dragon Armor (1995) Ninja Shooters - (1995) Muta Force Turtles - Robotic Raphael, Andro-Skeleton Leonardo, Dynatronic Donatello, and Robotation Michaelangelo (1996) Coil Force Turtles - Coil Cool Don, Mighty Mech Mike, Lickety-Split Leo, and Rapid Recollin' Raph (1996) Head Droppin' Turtles (10th Anniversary re-release) (1996). Ninja Power Turtles (10th Anniversary re-release) (1996) Pizza Tossin' Turtles (10th Anniversary re-release) (1996) Sewer Spittin' Turtles (10th Anniversary re-release) (1996) Ninja Action Turtles (10th Anniversary re-release) (1996) Kung-Fu Action TMNT Tournament Fighters (10th Anniversary re-release) (1996) Mutations (10th Anniversary re-release) (1996) Mutant Masters - The Ninja Turtles sporting Anime inspired armor as "ancient mythic warriors"; Leonardo Wind Warrior, Donatello Water Warrior, Michelangelo Thunder Warrior, and Raphael Fire Warrior. (1997) Dino Turtles - The Ninja Turtles as Dinosaurs; Tricera Mike, Stego Raph, Ankyl Leo, Pterano Don, and Tyranno Shredder (1997) Stretch Figures - Stretch Mike, Stretch Don, Stretch Raph, and Stretch Leo (1997) Even with the silliest of concepts, Playmates managed to create some intriguing and fun figure designs for children. In contrast to other companies like Kenner, who constantly re-released figure sculpts with different paint jobs, Playmates rarely showed a cheap or careless effort in their TMNT figures. But with rising competition, limited figure concepts, and the end of the cartoon series, a pitfall was inevitable. By the second, less violent TMNT film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, Playmates decided to create a figure collection based on the characters' live-action appearance. In contrast to the regular figures, these were made of a softer, more rubbery material to better reflect the look of the animatronic costumes used in the films. They also featured ball joints at the neck, shoulders, and hips, and each figure came with a small, canister of Ooze. In terms of character variety, however, the Movie Stars collections were in stark contrast to the wide variety seen in the basic figure lines. 1993 also saw the production of Toon Turtles. These figures took on an almost stereotypical approach to being humorously cartoon-like. Each character bore a friendly, animated appearance with a glittery paint job and including some type of "cartoon" action feature (Raphael's head spun, Michelangelo's tongue unraveled in Tex Avery fashion, etc.). On the upside, this series produced a more "cartoon accurate" painted version of Shredder and introduced toys not previously made for many longtime characters from the cartoon series such as the Neutrinos and April O'Neil's co-workers, Irma Langinstein, Burne Thompson and Vernon Fenwick. A third movie hit theatres in 1993 but saw less success than its predecessors. This collection featured the Ninja Turtles once again in their Movie Star likeness and sporting samurai armor, as well as several other side characters. The Giant Movie III Samurai figures also came complete with removable masks and time scepters as seen in the film. In 1994, Playmates, in an attempt capitalize on toy lines like Mighty Max and Polly Pocket, shrunk the Turtles down to an equally small size in a sub-line simply named "Mini Mutants". These were "Turtle Transport Combos" which contained one figure and two vehicles. "Bodacious Battlesets" which were four playsets which could connect via bridges/platforms; these included one figure. "Turtle Top Playsets" were a characters head which would open into a double decker playset; these included three figures. Slimmer "Carry Along Playsets" took the shape of Raph's sai, Leo's katana, and the Turtle Communicator; these came with three figures. And finally, "Mini-Mutant Turtle in a Turtle" was released in 1996, consisted of four playsets that were figures of the four turtles about 6 inches taller than the normal figure; their heads, stomachs, and shells opened into the playsets. Each had themed removable armor as well; two figures were included with each.

Gonna be turning 16 now but I remember when I was 5-7 watching these videos, really want to go back to the past…
The irony is that the toys based off the second movie look more accurate to the third movie.
this is going back now, I have not gone this far back in your videos, I am pumped, currently organzing my collection of TMNT, I need this
Love the the 80s version turtles,as well as the current turtles:)
Those cartoon version figures looks like something out of a nightmare!
I grew up with the 2007 and 2012 turtles.
The early movie turtles are really good for their time in my opinion.
version 2 are horrifying!
I was thinking in a video of the many versions of TMMT ! nice one Pixel !
and since this video we have had; NECA, Super7 and playmates make MORE versions of the 4 turtles making collecting even more work
Way awesome review guys! Love the 90s nostalgia! Or might I say late 80s early 90s :) . I use to watch this when I was a kid. One of my favorite cartoon & collected the figures too. Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to the next episode
Im not a big fan of tmnt but I couldn't resist picking up the new toysR'us classic version
I always thought those black and yellow spots on Donny looked like he had leprosy
Love this!
6:19 Thanks a lot pixel dan now I can’t sleep without dreaming about this
Looks like Dan has more figures to work with so we can get a part 4 and 5
You know what's really ironic? Him being Leo and holding He-Man's sword since Cam Clarke, the voice of Leonardo, also did Prince Adam/He-Man in the 2002 cartoon. XD Other than that, nice look at the Turtles so far! Although I don't understand the 2nd loop.
The movie version figures should be what they look like in the new one:)

The collectors store near me is selling the original four turtles from the 80's still in the package. But their like $70 each. :(
You know, I'm in the minority... but I thought Venus de Milo was a VERY good idea... just poorly executed. You can't just bring in a fifth turtle, and not expect people to ask questions.

Love the original TMNT action figure by Playmate toys. The toon Turtles looked like they just snorted cocaine 😂😂 but still were funny. Love the live action movie version because they weren't the hard plastic. And they had the spotted look . Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles: the next mutation failed because they deviated too far from the concept. Venus was too soon for its time and as far as the "don't mention her character to (Peter) Laird, I heard that too.
How come the turtles in 2003 have no pupils , but they did in 2007 with the same turtles ? Comment to me if you know the answer .
@sonicmario64
5 жыл бұрын
That would most likely be due to the 2003 TMNT cartoon series being more faithful to the original comics by Mirage Studios, where the Ninja Turtles were depicted having white eyes because of them wearing masks, and it was a common feature for comic book characters who always wore masks or cowls such as Batman and Wolverine.
My favorite version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are THE NEXT MUTATION. But can anyone tell where to buy them at?
