justzzzz I’d agree on this. Seems like Monsta X is really made to appeal on majority of men (because of their music style and manly dancing - thanks to shownu’s hip group choreo sequences) and to girls alike. And “oh my god” joohoney and IM rap verses echoes too much masculinity in them. Monsta X is not your typical feminine group, Monsta X is a monster group.

As a Baby and Monbebe, I do see the resemblance with the way newer boy groups respect MX. Mx also actually have said that they like BAP because of their vibe and concept. Newer boy groups tend to like those older groups who have strong and manly and sexy concept because not everyone can pull it off. 2PM, early Beast and MBLAQ, BAP, and MX are some of the groups that are successful in pulling off such concepts.

I think that Monsta X's much more "manly" (read: masculine) image and sound has a lot to do with why they garner so many male fans. Bangtan has a similar charm for guys, but their concepts vary more and they don't have the thick builds of Wonho and Shownu that really stand out (and maybe Jooheonie, cause he's working on it lol). And what the others lack in build, they more than make up for a really high energy, hard, strong "manly" charisma. I find that men - especially straight Western men - tend to feel more comfortable openly liking artists that fit their idea of what a hetero masculine image is, rather than those that lean more towards an androgynous or even "feminine" aesthetic (I mean by Western standards; don't @ me). Either way, I'm with other Monbebes here: SO cool to see the new gen of idols loved MX, and I'm ecstatic to see them getting more and more attention. They've always been a standout, unique group to me, and while that's always SUPER risky in the world of KPop, and I'm glad they've really formed their own identity as a group and stayed true to it.
