The Sci-Fi version is still my favorite.

The Syfy version was my introduction to it all and it's my favorite one. I know it has lower quality but I don't mind that at all. I've watched it so many times. I can sit through the entire thing without any issues

I'm glad it's your favourite. It does have a unique charm to it despite it's flaws.

I remember being pleasantly surprised to discover it's existence after only having seen the rather disappointing and gross Lynch version. I only saw it once (and I've probably only seen the Lynch version a couple times), but I thought the mini-series was better, but noticeably cheap. For some reason, in my mind, budget is almost separable from it's quality as an adaptation, though. I was coming at it mainly from a book-faithfulness* and a hard sci-fi sensibility though. (To be clear, I know Dune is soft, not hard, science fiction, but I'm just saying I have a bias towards realism, such as that they wore MORE of their still suits in the mini-series than the Villeneuve version, though none of the adaptations has them covering their face enough in my opinion, since directors always want to show their actor's faces.) I definitely feel the Villeneuve version to be the best and most definitive, one, though. My main question mark about it is about the fact that they compressed all of Dune Part II (and much of Part I for that matter) into the space of Jessica's pregnancy. My best guess they didn't want to do the creepy little girl for some reason? The bizarre shortness of their war this implies is not very noticeable, but I did think Paul's sister was a distinctive part of the book. *I also only read the book once and haven't read the sequels.

@@Mr.Nichan for the newest version my biggest issue was that it seemed to move to fast. In the mini series the pacing felt way better but in the newest one it feels rushed to me. It's very well done and I like it but that's my main issue

“Denis Villeneuve’s Dune was extremely faithful to the source material…” I’m literally LMAO! Um… NO it’s not. Denis took so many liberties in his adaptation changing characters like Liet Kynes in a genderswapped role, omitting characters like Alia from part 2 where her birth was integral to the climactic ending, leaving out the Mentats and the Guild Navigator. Dude I can go on and on and on how Denis changed the source material to make his big screen action epic where “action” was hardly featured in the books at all. The books are essentially Game of Thrones in space. Lots of talking, plotting and drama. Denis added battles and action sequences that were not in the book. His film chooses style over substance. Personally the sci-fi miniseries is the most faithful adaptation of the book. If you can overlook the budgetary shortcomings and dated special effects that harken back to Babylon 5 in the 90’s it’s truly delightful with excellent costume design and casting. Ian McNiece is simply wonderful as the Baron.

I'm starting to notice a theme that you're a bit impatient, at least movies made from Dune (which is admittedly a bit big).
